Very sad deal.. The bicycle was a full suspension Mountain Bike. So I doubt this is gonna be a simple case of road rage against a cyclist. We'll have to wait and see, definitely more to the story than we know at this point.

Are we really changing assumptions based on the type of bike it was? I am not sure why but that just strikes me as weird?

From the news video it sounds like the MTB bike was stopped at a red light. The lexus rear ended him at speed throwing the biker into the air. Then he got out of the lexus and started stabbing the biker in the middle of the street until random people could stop him.

Not weird at all. Just pointing out that it is not your typical “Skinny Tire” road rage scenario. A mountain biker gets taken out on the street and stabbed is beyond bizarre.

Lexus is not registered to him.

That intersection backs up especially heading north. Perhaps the bicyclist rode by and the Lexus guy didn't like it.

From the video it appears the perp passed between a car nearest the curb and a van, apparently stopped for the light. Hard to tell, but the victim may have been in the crosswalk? Due to the speed the perp was traveling, he must have gone a ways after hitting the victim? Then turned and came back and did the stabbing?
