No shit thats supercar level performance.
And that's the Grand Touring edition 👍 If I was still contracting and needed a more "Executive" truck for myself, that still possessed truck capabilities for my local job site visits, and trips up to Orange County area, I'd be looking hard at this ride. But alas, that's no longer the case and currently it simply wouldn't mesh with our retired lifestyle without a lot of rather undesirable compromises.

Here’s the thing about batteries:
It takes years to get a factory together to make batteries.

There’s tens of billions being invested to produce current-gen batteries. Companies need to amortize these costs over years/decades.

Lithium batteries will be with us for quite some time.

The only breakthru on the horizon is solid state, and that still in development and years away at best.

Any new technology will have years of development and validation ahead of it. And thats before the facilities to scale-up production are planned, let alone built.

Not directed at you but there’s been a lot of absolutes on this board.

Remember when everyone basically laughed KAP out of the room when he said outboards would be the future of performance boating.

The real estate market imploding any minute now

Tesla can do nothing but fail

Emission diesels will be the end of the economy

F150s can’t tow worth shit.

Speed is a Ponzi Scheme.

EVs will never work.

The list grows by the week lol.
Hey I got laughed out of the room when I said about 7-8 years ago that small displacement turbo charged engines will be in everything.

Rather than buy a Rivian vehicle it may be a better bet to try to get a job at their Irvine office. Rumor has it the pay package is aggressive, Sr Eng $200k base + $250k/yr RSU + sign on + $1000/mo vehicle credit. If the stock does well, those RSU will make you a multi-millionaire in a few years....if not, oh well.

This is exactly why Tesla is so far ahead of every other EV maker.

Until a new chemistry breakthrough hits well see incremental capacity improvements.

10-15% every new iteration, better packaging, battery as a stressed member vs carry on etcetera,

in teslas case - The motors and inverters will get only a tiny bit better, other manufacturers will do a bit better as most dont have the the same efficiency today

Door to door time will improve as larger capacity equals more time spent in fast charge. Most guys have neve tripped one so they don't understand how to travel with them - you dont spend hours charging- but 15-20 min stops where you charge from 10-80%.
You get a hard slam of current then it tapers - you bail when it tapers.
Bigger batteries allow for a longer harder hit.

I don't think most people are against electric because its not petroleum based transportation. I think most people are against electric because once the majority are using it for transportation the government will tax the ever living fuck out of it AND have to monitor your every movement for " road tax ". I need electricity to run my house. Find something the fuck else for transportation !1

Too late- every move you make is already watched - ask your cell phone.

Im already mandated taxed and regulated to death on gasoline - road tax, CARB, catalytic converters- no mods, california version of everything.....

I can make electricity on my own if I have to - I cant distill gas.

I can also make electricity from a variety of fuels....

Starting every day with a full tank is a game changer for me - I dont care about green.
