Wow. That was A LOT to read. Great on passing and not dying, granted the “I’m not pulling over if u crash comments were solid”
I live more bye the if u do something stupid and end up hurting my family, u won’t survive the crash. SO GLAD rice road isn’t in my travels. Lol. Seems like a hot topic.

They should just name Rice Rd. The Douchebag Expressway, then maybe the wrong people won't end up in the way of all the pricks that endanger everyone else. 😂😂

That’s what I always thought too.
CHP that got me was way cool, he seemed sort of nonchalant and interested in the car.
I thought for sure I was going to jail, he was like “naw, mandatory court appearance”.
That 20 over might Jack the fine or whatever, but 100 is the criminal threshold.
There was also some "bonus points" thing, like reckless something or endangerment? I remember telling the judge once, "well, there was no one around"..."Boy, there was that deputy, he was around."
Judge had a fair point. In 96 my bare minimum liability was 200$ a month through some cut rate insurance...

Just an FYI, and Flybywire can correct the details I’m sure to fuck up, but any speed registered over 100MPH in CA, on any road including interstates, is a criminal violation…like a DUI.
(Ask me how I know)
If you are cited over 100 MPH in ‘Berdo county you will appear before that old grouchy judge in Barstow, unless he’s retired by now.
It’s a criminal charge, not a simple moving violation. There is no on line class for reduction, no mailing in your fine, none of that. You will show up, and He will fine you at least $900, he will suspend your license for at least 2 weeks,
I can’t remember how many points…then, after he scolds you for a good 5-10 minutes he will make you sit at a juror chair and look through his book of CHP pictures featuring dismembered bodies and all kinds of “blood on the asphalt” type pictures before he lets you leave.
There’s no options besides taking it or lawyering up. This was my experience and I was just going straight down a mostly empty freeway.
There was 3 of us in his court that day for criminal speeding almost 4 years ago.
It didn’t matter what you plead, he wanted a verbal explanation of WHY we were doing over 100 on HIS roads. As you might guess, there was no suitable explanation..he took that shit personal.
I can’t imagine what he’d do if facing a person in his courtroom cited for doing 105 for miles on end in the oncoming lane of a 2 way state road. He’d lose his fucking mind from what I saw!
You should have informed him that they are actually our roads not his. Probably would have cheered him up.

Took rice road home again today. Was good until before and after the solar farm. Had to pass about 15-20 cars in a shot again. Then another 10 around mcgoo place. These guys were going like 40 miles per hour and no passing. I was slightly more patient but none of them even peeked. So off I went.

I actually had a weekend off. So Darwin was in charge. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Hope you enjoyed it!
My dad was a CHP and we used to get the California Highway Patrolman monthly magazine delivered to the house when I was a teenager.
Don’t know if they still publish it, but along with the articles it used to contain pictures of the nastiest accidents from around the State. Talk about waking up a young driver about the old term “speed kills”.
Friend of mine works with you up in Needles and I was out to breakfast one morning with him and another guy at the table asked, what about all these guys out on Rice that pass me running 100 plus.
He looks at him and says…that’s why I carry a square nosed shovel in the trunk.
Classic!
I’m no internet intellectual, so not sure if the OP is trolling or not, but I have been driving to and from the River on Rice for over 55 years so hundreds and hundreds of round trips and never had a close call.
I’d like to think my dad taught me right or I guess I’m just lucky.
I make good time and have done my fair share of passing, but 105 in a Super Duty thats no doubt been lifted with the standard oversize tire running that speed is just dumb.
I guess he is some kind of racer, but I have been racing my whole life and probably been faster and quicker on both the water and asphalt than most and the fact is, real racers know the time and place.
I didn’t take any chances this weekend. Since all this allegedly happed Thursday and I figured this weekend warrior would be going back today, I sent my kids and their spouses(6) and grandkids(10) back through Erenburgh( which I always encourage them to take) just to avoid this guy. Turns out I was right.
I see you’re only 37 years old.
Maybe it’s time to grow up.

Did Rice last night around 11pm, hardly anyone on it. But I was towing so I didn’t have to pass anyone. Got passed a few times. Nothing out of the ordinary.

It was brutal today, left Havasu at 10:30 am. Pilot trucks in tow of a monster excavator. It took me all the way from train tracks to stop sign at junction to 29 palms to finally get past everyone safely. Many bad drivers with no business passing and many others that followed bumper to bumper giving no room to pass and merge back in.
