Badass. I have a 74 that is up right after out bathroom remod. Already did the long arm fronts, have new shock hoops on the way, disc conversion is staged and ready, and now I'm contemplating a all new wiring harness. These are almost as bad as boats, just on the land.

Start a build thread! I’m converting my 67 over to factory EFI from an 89 foxbody. I added disc up front and hydroboost from a 95 Astro van. Adding ram assist, 24 gallon tank, and aluminum radiator on the short list. Nothing fun to look at but here’s the beginning...

Covid DIY home improvement: Irrigation project

Dug up the valves in the ground, made new PVC manifold with Hunter Jar Top Valves to run sprinklers and drips. Installed an Orbit B-Hyve sprinkler controller - great to be able to set up the zones and even water manually using my iPhone.

Valves in the ground (box removed)...

Original set up in front of the wall - sprinkler timer and landscape light timer/transformer (SS box):

Looks nice 👍

Thanks! One of the best tools I own is this Milwaukee PVC pipe cutter (from the pic above)...

This place looks to be lower cost than Home Depot

Finally putting some time in to my 65 El Camino:

Rear end cut down and tacked up, I'll get this all mocked up with suspension and shock brackets under the car then get it back to the rear end guy and have everything welded up in his fixture. Have a mild BBC under the bench for her, Turbo 400... no drag racer just a street cruiser.

My Uncle gave me this car when I was 15, he bought it new in 65' and didn't want to take it with him on his move to Washington when he retired. Been sitting in my Dads shop since 92' (ouch) was about 90%+ complete and ready for paint when I had to move it up there... life, marriage, kids, boats, sports holy shit it's 28 years later. I gotta get this rolling, we lost my uncle a few years ago, WWII Vet, 3rd Army with Patton and saw it all, Normandy, Battle of the buldge... I need to get this done. My family hangs on to cars, my Dad has a 54' GMC that the same uncle bought new as well as a 70' GMC Suburban with a 402 BBC that my Grandpa bought new, hoping that the Burb will fall inline after the Elco is done.

Building it? Care to tell/show more? What Gen Raptor, 1 or 2?

Gen 1. One of the led tail / brake lights failed on the stock one and its kinda ugly anyway. There are some you can buy but couldnt see dropping $500 -$700for something so simple.
Found a 6" oval led tail / brake / backup or cargo / light that also has an amber strobe in the center. I may use the strobe for the dust light or I have the 2" round KC rock lights. I use a yellow headlight film on my dust running lights, KC sells its as a amber to, but I prefer the yellow. Building a back plate to mount on the truck, then a face plate that will slip over it. All lights are DOT legal so no stupid BS from the POPO for no lights covers or something. Oval light $75, KC rock lights $29 each, a little aluminum and eventually powdercoat.

Very nice, is that some kind of kevlar gopher matting you laid under the sod ?

Haha it’s diamond lath. I think I went overboard. That cost more than the sod [emoji15]

Neighbor on our left has bought every trap/gimmick under the sun to catch gophers in his yard. I figured I would get a jump on them.

It comes in 2.5x8ft and is $9 a piece.

Finally getting around to the backyard again. We let it go a few years ago, but I'm tired of just dirt and toys. Two sheds and dog kennel are going in here. It's nice having a small army to help with this stuff. Kennel will go in the middle, two sheds on either side. And of course everyone of my days off to work on this have been 100 plus days. At least yesterday it was only 101 here.

I'm a damn good gopher trapper, but much prefer to trap them anywhere but in my lawn. With a grove, it's damn near impossible to keep up with them, especially when I've got neighbors who aren't proactive about keeping their numbers down.
Only rarely does one pop up or start a new tunnel in my lawn, but when one does, I first try to dispense some strychnine poison pellets I purchase from a company in TX, before I start digging holes for trapping. I'd say my success rate in the lawn with poison pellets inserted down into their tunnels is about 60% effective, never had any luck with gas bombs, or any other means but traps.

I wish I'd done what you did under my sod, but didn't.

Hold on a minute here, I see a privileged youth, outdoors in the sun, working with his hands ----- I feel faint, it must be an illusion or photoshopped.
Doesn't that young man realize he can file a complaint with CPS and have you incarcerated for child cruelty ??

Seriously, BRAVO to you and your son, 👍 👍 👍 you have no idea how refreshing it is to see a young man outside physically working and helping his parents.
I mean that is truly "old school cool", right there. 😁

I live in the sticks and I've never seen a neighbor youth help their parents. The lazy pricks won't even roll the trash cans in, they just walk past them as if they're invisible.
I asked one high school aged young man once why he was riding his bike and not helping his dad work in the yard -- his comment about floored me " Oh, this is my parents house, not mine" ---- WTF ?

Cleaning with new O-rings. I ordered new buddies and installed them then took one of the old ones apart and sent an O-ring to "O-rings & things" and they sent me new O-rings for about $1.50. It will take me about an hour and they will be ready to go.

I have another set (different size) in my truck, these will join them. You never know when or where you will need one, maybe come across someone on the side of the road and this is all they need to get going again.

Picked up a little Milwaukee m12 polisher today. I have two rotary polishers and a DA already and I do a pretty good job on the cars. This little guy is quiet, gets into tight spots, and overall I am pretty impressed. It hogs down the battery, but I have like 20 of them between all my other tools and multiple chargers so it’s not really a big deal for me.

My Boys are restoring a few motorcycles, we just painted the plastics for Suzuki 650, pretty impressed with their body work as they fixed a lot of cracks and fused pieces together. After shooting with epoxy primer we had two or three little spots where we used some plastic glaze.

the mesh on the ground before you lay the sod........ what is that and why? I am assuming so no crab grass/weeds come up? Also, did you put top soil over the mesh before the sod went down?

Fescue?

Just curiou because I am in a battle with my backyard right now.

Goophers maybe? It's gonna be hell to remove someday... I put the mesh at the bottom of some of my planter boxes. Keeps the gophers out for a few years till it rusts out.

Got a heater in my truck and I don't give a f*** I'm off to the rodeo.
Found a vac leak for the ac, was right where I thought it might be, put a connection on it and viola, heat!
Timer came in for my seat heater yesterday, might do that tonight.

Take it you already laid the grass?

Worst case your kids are old enough to hunt gophers with a pellet gun right? [emoji23]

What would you guys use it for at the training center?

We have a basic and advanced lath project the apprentices Build. We also do a free form lath class. Think Disneyland rocks or like pool waterfalls and rocks. We have a full plasterer curriculum too, but I just teach the lath part.

We absorbed the lathers union. I’ve always said it’s a dying trade but it’s actually making a pretty good comeback. If you’re a decent lather I could get ya hired immediately. Same goes for welders.

Landscaping sux, been transferring dirt to back yard in spare time, finally finished this last weekend. Estimating over 20 tons of dirt.

3 or maybe 4 dump loads of planting sand delivered. One wheel barrel at a time down side of house to backyard.

IMG_8433.jpg

IMG_0791.jpg

Made a ramp to get it up on a upper level, then dumped it in front of planter before shoveling it all into planters.

Gopher's suck, never ending fight around here. Something like Kevlar would last, but I'm guessing the gopher could chew through it. I doubt anything galvanized will last very long and I wouldn't want to use it in a planter growing edibles. I did find this 304 stainless gopher wire, one roll is $ 389 for 100 x 4' and another is $ 229 and they appear to be the same --- unless that's a bulk order ??
