The Best Western in town is also a decent place to crash. My Step-mom has stayed there with my Dad a few times. If she is willing to go back, anybody can stay there.

Its right in town and a short drive to the camp site by roads if you are leaving your Rhino out there.

Deborah and I have stayed there a bunch of times, it isn't terrible. It is a room to crash in and you can eat a meal there if you want to. For a night or a weekend, it's the best bet for us.

We might head that way on Saturday that weekend but aren't sure yet. We are gone the next 2 weekends, so we might want to have a weekend at home.

Would love it if you guys were able to make it out. We were hoping to see you again on the lower river sometime this summer but I guess it didn't work out.

Blue water is closer to the camping area by regular car. Id rather give my money to JT on the keys though. Ur rhino is street legal and the drive to the caming area would be fun if u were with someone who knows the way.

Text sent :D

Good info thank you very much! I'll have to look more into it. I'm at the river right now - see pic

We had a great time at the LR when we were down there, we are just trying to figure out where we want to be long term. Not to mention we have almost completely remodeled our house in the last year, believe me, I would rather be at the river.

We will see all you guys again sometime soon!

I will call Will tomorrow on how much for the trailer to camp.. Hammer is talking about getting one as well. Offer is still open warlock if u need a place to crash.

I'm 50/50 on camping.. I was just trying to save some funds but with the kids it might be easier to camp.

ok, so who's in on this deal...and what is the actual dates :)

SJP + Mrs. -we are in for the Sat. run, maybe some target practice etc etc.

What's the deal? People aren't camping now?

We kind of always planned on going to the desert bar. Getting wife to camp out here after driving across the high desert after a work week would be a hard sell for SJP.

Still not opposed to camping if others are actually going to be there. If its only going to be a few, we will stay in town, I guess. I'm not opposed to a trailer, but I know that the rental trailers do not have generators.

You'll only need a generator for a few hours a day to keep the battery/batteries charged. Just bring an extension cord and you can plug into mine, problem solved. Dave you need to camp this year too!

I'm sure Brian and AJ can offer some power for others also, just make sure you guys with no power bring extension cords.

All of this talk of camping or not, hotel or not, generator or not.........XXX or not.....is undermining the viability of the weekend. I was fully planning on bring the moho for the weekend but now wonder if I'd be the only one there.....

Come on folks, this isn't rocket science. Are you CAMPING or NOT?

As long as you don't mind us using a bit of power when needed, we'll rent a trailer. :thumbsup

Yore right Jeff! I'll have the moho fueled up, liquored up, gunned & ammo'd up and ready for the weekend. I'll check this thread on Thursday then decided to load the refer or leave the stuff in the house fridge and just say 'fuck-it' or get it in and drive.

That's a hell of way to plan things out but it certainly is one way of doing it.......

Don't worry about a thing I've got you covered. :)

I can even make extra coffee for you and James in the morning if you like.

James and I will be camping now that I know that there will be an available generator should the need arise. I'll call today to book, but think it's gonna be an interesting conversation when I try to tell the chick that she needs to have someone drop it on the side of Shea road, just after the tree :rolleyes wish me luck :rolleyes

Carl, bring the moho, leave the whining at home. :D

Don't worry, I'm to cheap to run it all night, just to charge up the batt. in the afternoon's and mornings... but since you guys are so sincere I'll just fire up the ol' 5.9 Cummins and charge em' off the truck every few hours throughout the night. :thumbsup

Mel, while you might view my posts as whining, I view them as subtle encouragement toward the management of RDP.

I've been involved (and organized) this type of event two to three times per year for the last thirty years. Some are 'each on his own' style where nothing is provided. Others (the more group orientated <that word was placed just for RD> have several group meals with specific assignments) have a common campfire.

It might go something like this.....RDP provides the campfire area, all bring old Chrismas trees and 30 lbs of fire wood.

Friday, everybody on your own for meals and cocktails.

Saturday, breakfast on your own, lunch at the Desert Bar, no host. Saturday RDP provided group Margaritas, Screamin Pete's BBQ for main course. Last names from A-K provide appetizers, L-P provide sides to BBQ and Q-Z provide dessert.

Sunday, everybody on your own for meals and cocktails.

It can be as easy as everybody on their own up to the group providing all meals and drinks and then charge by the head for attendance. Many of the campouts that I attend are fully group provided for a fee of $80-$90 per person.

Just for Carl :D:

We are camping
We are brining a huge Santa Maria BBQ with Mesquite charcoal and red oak firewood that everyone can cook on Friday and Saturday night. (I was thinking Carne Asada or Tri-Tip for Saturday night... I can supply as well)
We also need a generator to charge the batt. and operate in the AM.
Borrowing a shower just about anywhere on Saturday would be lovely. Ours is sketch in the truck camper.

It was a joke, Carl...

Your idea sounds great. We are up for anything.

If someone wants to try to herd cats and get this thing organized like Carl suggested, perfect, that would be awesome. If not, great, we're just fine doing our own thing and just being there for a fun time . Everyone should bring firewood, that's a given.

Carl we have always kept it pretty mellow and everyone on their own program with the idea of hanging by the fire at night.. However if some organization is needed here then..

10:00 am Saturday morning for breakfast. (Optional). Around noon to leave for desert bar be at desert bar around 1:00-200. Hang until 4-5? I'd expect campers to be lighting fire around sundown 6'ish.. All troops reconvene at campfire for stories and bullshit session at 7:00pm. (Mandatory). This will continue on late into the evening mixed with the occasional offload ride thrown in. Sunday morning pack up and go home, but historically there has been a breakfast meet.

I am bringing my Texas plow disk cooker thingamajiggy which should cook breakfast for everyone and anything else we need that can be cooked on a pan. :)

I think Carl is onto something. Last time with Screaming Pete cooked for us. I think a pot luck dinner Saturday night would be a good idea.

Just an FYI I think river rv rentals is out of trailers.. Pretty sure I just rented the last one. I am sure there are other trailer rentals in and around Parker but the only guy I have ever used is Will..

We are camping for sure now. :).

where are you now?

In Oklahoma. :).

To Carl: I totally understand about planning and think its a great idea. I jus know that alot if river folks. ( none in particular ). They jus plan to show up and roll from there. It is what it is.

If I can swing it. I will be on a plane to Phoenix then a rental car to Parker. I will glady pay for more than my share for some food etc. I can stop and buy liquor and beer. :)

Wow, lots of drama here. We are trying to decide if we will be there. Was talking to RiverReality and his girl the other night and they might come in their Moho.... We would be coming in our enclosed trailer and trying to stay warm. We love camping, drinking, off roading, shooting, etc, so hopefully this thing comes off...... :)
