Is it possible the 300 mold was used to creat the 335?

What is the overall difference between the 300 and 335? I know the 335 has a step bottom
and the euro swim step.

No, 335 360 etc was done by some naval architect up in WA or something iirc. (during the late 90s early 2000s)

It's been a long time since then though so i could be wrong, but that's what i seem to remember

Thane told me himself he designed the 335 bottom. The V2D that was used on 290 and Gen 2 or 3 400 was that architect you’re talking about.

The 290 V2D was done by michael peters.. they tried it on the 400 and it didn’t work, but I think what they tried was a variation of peters design. From what I have heard in the 290’s (never been in one) they work pretty good.

I drove Mike’s 290 at Powell with a 565, SCX and B1 4 blade and I remember it had a lot of torque lean/steer compared to my twin powered boat. It turned nice and sharp and rode well in 3-4’ chop. It’s also a great looking boat and has amazing proportions and lines but it didn’t have enough HP I thought. It could definitely handle another couple hundred HP.

I have 750hp in my 290. I'd say that's where it needs to be. It's a lot of boat and hp on a single drive. Not a boat to hammer on or race around much. But definitely a powerful cruzer.

The V2D 40 bottom was corrected. Only two exist. One closed deck and one open bow. The open bow is for sale now.

The closed deck with stock 600's and NXT drives runs 90mph gps under normal conditions. People, gear, and fuel. Not light load. To give you an idea the original gen 2 40 bottom with 700's and six drives runs the same mph. The bottom works very well.

Not sure what props you’re running but seems a little light on speed for that RPM. Should be closer to 60 plus.

Also, water temp seems about 20 degrees higher than mine at same RPM. Maybe the t stats in those V-10s are set higher?
Agree. We looked at this 335 before the one we sold to you.

It had 24 Bravo 1's on it with a pair of 26's left in the boat. Seemed weird that it wasn't swinging 28's or 30's.

This is correct. Thane said he wanted a plexi windshield, but Nick had already bought a surplus of safety glass windshields for the 36. The other design was how the vent holes are placed in the bottom. Thane wanted them behind the steps not in the bottom.

I wonder if I could convert the safety glass to plexi? or a full on DCB Aeromarine windshield like @DaveTic has from GT Marine?

Wait just a darn minute. If you zoom in the bow are those jl speakers. Ohhh man kicker is gonna have a field day 😂😂😂. It’s a beauty Dave.
It’s for sale already. No time for new speakers!

BTW, Ron’s In Your Ear audio did my new JL system in the boat last year. We did all new M6 speakers, subs and MVi amps along with new power cable, speaker wire and connectors everywhere.

I asked why he didn’t sell Kicker and he said we don’t sell stuff you can buy at Walmart. Not sure what that means but he was pretty low on Kicker. FWIW.

It’s got 28 4 blades on it right now.. There is a ton of prop slip and they start to hook up around 60 mph.. I want to try some five blades or larger diameter four blades to see if that helps..

When I say a ton of prop slip I mean a ton.. to even get on plane you have to drop the tabs or it will just sit there digging a hole.. 😳

It was hot as balls yesterday so the first thing we did was put the Bimini up.. because of this we didn’t run very fast the whole day.

Let me know if you decide on something else. I may be interested in your 28s if you sell them. I’d like an extra set for the Nordic.

I need to get used to the v10’s and the mufflers.. lol. It sounds weird to me because I am so used to v8’s..

Are you saying that is what I should try? Or are ya saying that’s what it needs..

If so what pitch do ya think?
Yeah that is what I would go with. With the 710's I would think 32's would work perfect.

They sound and run like a train, pretty heavy and solid tho. I keep looking this thing over, such a nice boat, just needs some "Wired for Sound" help.

It’s definitely gonna need something larger diameter or more blades.. I think it will end up in the 30 pitch range.. maybe 32

Back in the day I liked hearing those things being run out the first time on the hose before the pool test and real water test.
They just sounded more exotic, you knew it wasn’t a V8.
Not V-12 Lambo exotic but you knew it was something special.

The only thing that sounded more exotic was the short lived Torque V-12 deal some years before the Ilmor V-10.

Something doesn’t sound right with that?
Everyone needs to remember before throwing prop recommendations out that the drive ratio may not be what your expecting it to be.

Dave what’s the drive ratios? 1.5 or 1.36?

Maybe everyone assumes 1.5 but I’ve seen some 1.36 floating around.

I run 30P 4 blade Bravos on my boat (a true 34' with 525s) and hit the rev limiters in the ocean. A 38 Top Gun with a playboy cabin probably weighs the same or a little less than mine and is probably a more efficient hull so I could see running 32's on that setup. I would guess that you are probably right looking at 30s or 32s for Havasu and a full load assuming 1.5 gear ratio

He can try mine if he wants. But he’d have to come to Phoenix to get them. 32 Maximus 15.25 short tube labbed.

I’m really surprised those things are that fast with that hp..
