IMCO standoffs are mounted.
They set the drives back so when you trim up it pulls the boat further out of the water. What do the stand off boxes accomplish? Is it extra running surface/length? Just curious because I just don't know.

As cool as it is to restore a unicorn type boat like this. It is still a 1983 hull, that there is not a whole lot of info on. What happens when you water test it? What if it rides and handles poorly? What if it is unstable at speed? There is a reason they stopped building them. I bet this hull is not going to perform well with those stand off boxes.
There is soooo much money going into this boat. I would have ordered a brand new Hallett, Howard, or Nordic.
Is it just me?

You can see a Hallett, Howard, or Nordic every minute in Havasu/Parker.
Some people prefer Ferrari's and some prefer 57 Chevy's.
I think it's cool because it's different. I agree with you, I hope they can get it to perform.
Oh and why not another brand? Have you seen a 27 in person? They are beautiful.

Talking to Charlie and Lee they made a shit load of changes to get the maroon one to semi work. I think they even offered to share their knowledge. I'm sure they can help get this one going also. At the end of the day, it doesnt look like he can't afford to spend the money to make it right.
That being said the hull doesn't work very well without some huge modifications. That's why they chopped the mold up in the first place.
It's always cool to see how the inmates always bring such positive vibes when someone chooses to build something different...
True, but a car/truck is not an apples to apples comparison with a boat. Say if it was an old 16 ft flat bottom. It is what it is. You won't be taking it in rough water. Even if you were to build a resto-mod 57. Chances are it will not see road course action. Did that come out right?
A boat like this, rigged the way it is, the owner is looking for speed, handling and performance.
I know I would.

Rigged for and used for are completely different animals. Most schiadas rarely leave the trailer so although they they have the show, they aren't required to have the go. It's a schiada thing, most won't understand. [emoji6]
Easy easy!
I think it is very cool. I hope it performs as good as it looks!!!
Everyone needs to meet in person on here. When you have never met someone, typing never comes off right.
Lol. I'm just being a smart ass. Honestly, it's these questions that make this place what it is and keep the convo going. Build threads are what first drew me to this place but, it's the banter that kept me here [emoji1303]

CNC?
CNC?
Crodgy Natural Cutter? Lol!We don't have an actual CNC machine, joe V is the closest we have to a CNC machine.

I wish he would let me get more video of his work, it's pretty impressive to see a piece of aluminum stock turn into a fine crafted functional
part of a badass boat.
Vandy can make some chips fly, and a cool dude to boot. Can't believe Gary has not stepped up to an automated machine after all the years of making one off boat parts.
