I am praying for you! God is there during these horrible times. My MIL beat cancer with help from Dr. Gonzalez out of NY. He does natural treatments. You may want to contact him as his methods have a very high success rate with some of the worst cancers. His website is below:

Started my IV chemo yesterday. This shit is nasty compared to the pill form I took with my radiation in May/June. It was a 7 hour day in the hospital yesterday and 46 hours on the take-home pump (wearing a fanny pack deal until tomorrow). I was in the hospital 8 hours Tuesday having a port installed in my chest/jugular vein--weird shit. Anyway, I feel a little better today than last night and I'm hoping the feeling shitty part does not get much worse. I have 8 treatments 2-weeks apart, 1 down, 7 to go. After that it is more scans and maybe another lap surgery to check it out before making the next move.

After meeting the onc doc last week with the wife I have been in a bit of shock. The wife cried for 2 days. The docs tell me if I don't treat I have a year to live. With treatments (chemo for life) I have 20% chance to make it 5 years. My first thoughts are no way I want to live my last 5 years on chemo feeling like shit and suffering. I was super depressed for a week. Now I'm getting back into fighter mode and digging deep into my soul and calling on God. I have decided to fight and explore some alternative treatments after the 4 months of chemo is done. I am going to prove the docs wrong. I have no choice. Thanks for all of your support, especially the stories about beating the odds. Dave, I will be calling you about the Mexico place. I am pretty sure I know the place but would love to get more details.

Thanks again everyone.:thumbsup

John,
It doesn't matter what the doctors are saying. I am going on the word of God for your life and he says that by his stripes you are healed. I pray right now that you will be strengthened during your treatments. I pray for you to be healed from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet. In the name of Jesus I command the cancer to be gone from your body and I bind anything that would try to take that healing from you. You have been bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ, the battle has already been won!

Give it all to God and let him show you how much he loves you! I pray for your family to be strengthened and may they find comfort in your faith and your bravery in fighting this battle. Never give up!! I believe and I will stand with you in prayer!!

I've had 4 of those Hickman catheters. Weird but they save a lot of grief. Take a little time occasionaly to just "be" and not do battle. The worst time for me was that SPLIT second when I wake up, then get hit by the train.

John,
I'm taking a guess here that your User Name here in RDP is because you have all girls in your household. I too, am out numbered in this regard. Two daughters and even the cat and dog are female (not sure about the Gold Fish). In reading, your family and hobbies are very much like mine. Though we have not met, you are my brother. And as brothers and sisters do, we are rallying for you. Know that while you continue to do battle, we are steadfast in our support for you, your family, and the fight. Your cancer is being out numbered by the relentless barrage of prayers and positive energy and will be defeated.

Fight on John!

We are with you to victory.

Your RDP Brothers and Sisters

Yeah, how are ya? It has been 6 days we need an update.
I pray for you every night, think about you all the time. There is something about the "fraternity" (for lack of a better word) that cancer survivors are members of that...I guess it just comes from that "knowing."

John, there are a bunch of us here that "know".
And even those that don't...well we all know what a special thing RDP is. And we know why.
People. It is all about the people.
People who have fun together and laugh about the good times, but when times are hard we circle the wagons.
We have our wagons circled around you.
Keep pulling, keep after it.

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling great this week. I was supposed to have my third treatment last week but postponed it so I could see my youngest daughters club soccer tournament this weekend. Spending the weekend with the family and feeling great. The next treatment is weds and I'll be sick for a week. The last one took me out for about 5-7 days. Not looking forward to it as it feels very much like a cheap tequila hang over from he'll, lol.

Wow this sucks. I hate hearing about this stuff. Good news is there are lots of people that have been in your shoes and won. Stay positive and get informed so you can ask questions and do plenty of your own research.

Had a good friend go to the ER because he had a headache for two weeks. Had two tumors in his head and they were supposed to kill him. He was on his deathbed when his doc tried something different. He is still here 5 years later and he is doing great. One tumor was removed and the other one has been reduced in size and hasn't moved in 2 years. With God on your side you can beat this.

Prayers for the duration.

On a positive note, taking the extra week off this time had me feeling almost normal. So, I figured I'd have to climb on the KTM and do a short ride. Went out planing on an hour or so with a buddy and ended up riding single track for 2.5 hours on Friday am. Fucken A was that a blast. Rode until I nearly passed out, lol. Probably over did it but oh well. Fun times.

What do you do to stay occupied while at the hospital? Do you have a favorite author?

Sent from my Bat Cave

No fave really. Lately I've been reading lots of nutrition and alt med books. Also watch netflix on my daughter's kindle. Watched the first 3 episodes of Revolution today. I don't watch much tv but I'm enjoying that show.

Sitting here in the chemo room today. Got some time to pass. Thought I would update the RDP peeps. Today is my 5th cycle of 8. I have roughly another month and a half in this first treatment phase. Treatments/cycles are two weeks apart and take 3 days of continuous iv chemo.

Anyway, some good news today is that my ct scan from yesterday shows that no new spreading aka metastasis was found. This does not mean I'm clear but it just means I'm not getting worse. So far so good. Since my secondary cancer is more of a set of lesions rather than a tumor like the primary cancer the only way to know for sure what is going on is to do surgery which they will likely do in January. The metastases are so small they don't show on ct scans or MRI's. The main reason they are doing these ct scans is to make sure it's not forming a new tumor somewhere.

So there you have it. Thanks again for all the support and prayers. :)

lately I have been reading that there is a correlation between sugar and cancer. I don't have the details but in some of the holistic pubs that I receive they talk about this. It's worth a look.
I would also do a search on marijuana and the effects it has on cancer. Opposite of the sugar, "They" say that it helps with nausea and it also helps to shrink and rid the body of tumors.

I am only repeating what I have read and I DID NOT stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I'm happy to hear of your progress and my offer still stands if you need anything, I'm just down the road.

Yes., thanks for the info. I'm very aware that sugar, especially refined, is horrible for you and feeds cancer cells. I stopped eating sugar 6 months ago. I'm working with a nutritionist and she has been a huge help at keeping me relatively healthy when on the chemo. She also coincidentally mentioned Rick Simpson oil to me last night. I had already found it in my research and I'm going to take another look.

Thanks to everyone for their support and prayers.
