My lovely place of employ, beautiful Wasco State Prison.
What kind of leads do you get off of that site? My wife has been on it for some time and gets mostly crap from BS agencies or leads that are totally unrelated to the type of work she is seeking.

Not many. The university/college versions of Monster are better, as you usually have alumni and supporters looking to hire. Unfortunately, I lost my free 2 year membership to USC's version this last may, or I would be more than happy to offer up my access.
Best thing to do is find an area that you are interested in and get in contact with a head hunter. Most are cold-calling leaches, but some really do what they are suposed to. Luckily I had one that was worth his weight and found the exact job I was looking for and really helped me out. Unfortunately, he passed away shortly after I was hired, so when time comes to move, I will be out looking for another. :smackhead
Here's my office on wheels:
Ditto... if I do get contacted by a legit company, it is usually for something that requirers a License; Insurance, Annuities; etc., etc. Unfortunately in today's business world, very few companies are going to hire an individual and spend the $$$ & time licensing & training them. Most have told me go get you licensed on your own, (depending on what it is, that's anywhere form 6-12 months), then come back and if there's an opening at feel free to apply :smackhead
Yeah was, but I had a job in the marine industry shortly after I graduated San Diego State. Knowing then what I know now, it wouldn't have gone that route, but live and learn. SDSU also had there own career/job finder that I was a part of, but most of the jobs were in San Diego, and I ended up moving back home,
The Head Hunters I've been/talked to have done one of two things, 1 promise me the moon and delivered nothing, never returning my emails & calls. 2 ask me for an asinine amount of money up front for their services, I might have been born at night, but I wasn't born last night.
So her I sit wadding through the crap trying to find something
Most head hunters that are legit work for the companies they are placing their clients into and they get a percentage of the clients annual salary after they have gotten through an established set of time.
What did you do the Marine Industry? My family has been in the industry going back 3 generations, but has since gotten out in the early '00's.
I started out doing promotional and marketing materials for a new boat dealer/broker in HB. That slowly yet quickly morphed into me installing electronics (radar, vhf, gps), bait tanks and other accessories, coordinating off loads, setting up trailers, doing dealer prep, delivering boats to customers, and working boats shows
Which brokerage was that? Do you have your yacht brokerage license? Captains License?
When I'm not rescuing dogs (feels like a job!) I'm the controller for a scaffold company. Nothing like the smell of pending change orders in the morning.
Latest rescue - Benny, a 6 month old ridgeless Ridgeback from Carson.
Cool scaffold job we did. Everything was suspended so they could replace the copper sheating on the domes.
-Justin
Glad to hear you ended up getting him!
Congrats!

How's that holding out for you? I was looking at doing that a few years ago, but I really wanted a Snap on route and there were none to be had in my area. Second choice was Matco, but the only route available was a portion of Pepe's route and they were going to let him cherry pick who he wanted to keep as customers. I wonder how I would have done with gas prices going the way they did.
some of you guys have cool jobs....:thumbsup

Not trying to change the subject, but this "ridgeless ridgeback" you speak of ???? I rescued my dog as well, and I have always said she is a ridgeback, but smaller with no ridge...is this a real breed??? Here she is sitting at my feet right now...

Hey Justin,
We're you guys a sub to Amoroso on the observatory, or were they the General on it?
The first one is me on the job in the early 80's, and me on the job now.
How long of a wheelie can you ride on that thing?

Long Beaches finest!!!! Right on. I have a lot of respect for LBPD!!!!! Specially after one of your officers let me off with a warning while on my way to work one morning. I work for SSA/Matson and was running late and he knew it. :thumbsup
Thanks for the props! We try to be fair.
I would never post a pic of me doing it, but....

Wow, I see five maybe six infractions in that one picture alone, not to mention y'all are doing this with the taxpayer's bikes. I have one question.... Would you write me up for doing the same stunt? :smackhead
Have a nice day.
I got busted 10 years ago by Manhattan Beach PD for same exact stunt. Very expensive and not a infraction. Was a misdemeanor!
