I always said since Biggie's murder, that Puffy had the most to gain from his death. He was just the little punk friend in the background singing the follow up lyrics "Hell Yeah" and such (kind of like the little dog in this cartoon). Biggie got all the attention. Puffy shot to the top almost immediate, after Biggie's death.

If this was a state case, he could wiggle out of it. But when you get indicted by the Feds, you got problems. They never take cases they can't win.
