And how might you get all of your protein needs? Assuming you want to build or at minimum maintain.

OMAD would be tough unless you've gone low carb or keto.
But if you are; protein is not an issue doing - at all.
Go to town on chicken, fish, all kinds of pork and beef.
Get your fiber from cruciferrous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, sperry etc)

Same happened to me and took a long time to come back to normal. The only thing that got me back to normal levels was to start donating blood every 3 months.
Yup, pretty common but not a risk im willing to take. Im scheduled to donate next week. I was donating max and wasnt moving it from about 17.2

Took over a year to get my hemoglobin level below 17.2. Now comfortably in the 14.0 range

Ozempic or ? anyone here using it for weight loss ? My two knees and Hip have really cut me back on my physical exercise and I have put on some unwanted body mass (getting fat) I looked into Zegovy and Ozempic but haven't pulled the trigger yet ?
The stuff works from what i can tell. Don’t let people shame you. I got a script for it about 6 months ago, I have about 20 pounds I want to shave off. I spoke with my GP about it and it’s safe, the extra weight isn’t doing me any good and we decided for me to try it out. For the most part I eat fairly conservatively but I’m not willing to eat like a rabbit. Anyways, my pharmacy never filled the script so I haven’t tried it. Still about 15 pounds over what i want to be.

Didnt read through the thread ... just saw the title and just met a gal who mentioned she's on it... she's around 50 and diabetic.... said she's gained weight on it and I could see she was not feeling well .... she said she did a bunch of booze and blow in early years saying she thinks the drug over last 3-6 months is messing with her system. Poor gal had issues just talking with me and her husband outside... had to go lie down.... but she's an Ex Newport fancy gal so kinda fragile, vain and botoxed so who knows. I thought it was a weight loss drug.... never heard of folks gaining on it.

Hi Dan.... I saw earlier you dropped 75lbs.... me too .... congrats.... took a year in Mexi eating I guess non GMO processed food and beach walks. How are you feeling after the loss? I can cut my toe nails again lol!

It’s about $1k/mo without insurance. My mom was on it and it probably saved her life. She lost ~50 pounds.

Generally, woman doesn’t admit to being on it. I grew up on balboa island, I knew the type. Their world is shattered the first time they have to pay for a drink and it’s all downhill from there.

I did the same, my numbers are good but I'm on BP meds, and could lose some lbs that would defiantly help my BP.
I eat well 95% of the time 5% is eating out for Sushi, no fast foods, not even in n out but on a rare occasion, I do drink too much beer, my Dr can't understand how my numbers are in check after I tell him how many I drink on a daily basis. :rolleyes:
I emailed my Dr @Kaiser, and I should be able to get in this week to ask some questions.

Yup. Or, nobody ever takes into account a person's hectic schedule or lifestyle. Some of us simply don't have time, or even the resources, to prepare the types of foods required to sustain some of the diets outlined here.

And no, it's not a case of life or death, no more so than saving money for your retirement/kids inheritance vs spending it while you're alive. Nothing is certain in life and you never really know if you are on the correct path.

Thus, I live more of a hybrid diet/exercise schedule. I do what I can, when I can, and I'm cool with it and the risks associated with my inability to be Jack LaLane 😂

They are not comparisons, they are reality.

Thus, a balance for me on both. My family, despite many members being diabetic, has longevity (90+). In my situation, I don't go overboard on either because death due to car accidents and other circumstances is no stranger in my life.

I have a friend who can care less about his health. He drinks and smokes and does lines and who knows what else. All he cares about is having a good time, and everybody loves him for it.

If we both die tomorrow, he wins. I was the dumbass always preparing for tomorrow.

Sometimes it’s just a genetic luck of the draw. I’ve had just as many “healthy fit“ friends die as I have unhealthy.

People follow these threads, trying to learn what may or may not work for their own situation.

What works for a relatively healthy 30 something may not always be appropriate for a 50 or 60 something whose body is beat to shit after years of abusing ourselves, trying to make a living.

Most of us, “big boned” people know what needs to be done, but don’t need to be berated and told how easy it is.

If it was easy, we’d all be skinny.🤣

Just not "victims" - how sympathetic would you be if your friend complained about his health?

The “easy” way is to be a glutton and human beer funnel until it becomes a health issue, then take a pill or shot to reverse decades of unhealthy habits…all subsidized by the insurance premium paying public.

Next will be a thread complaining about escalating health insurance premiums.

I’ve seen the pictures of members here…and the massive plates of garbage being shoved down their gullets.
Eating is a social activity here, and it shows.

I’m allowed to talk because I am not some skinny guy.
It’s work to be healthier. It’s a change in habits.
There are 99 reasons for me to talk myself out of going to the gym. I don’t always win the argument.

But my biggest problem with this thread is the complete disregard for the cost burden placed upon every one because people are just too busy to even try to be healthier in their habits.
I’ve read in this thread that some of these treatments are upwards of $1000 a month without insurance?
So if it’s $100 with insurance, who’s paying that difference?
Everyone is busy.
Everyone has shit to do.
It doesn’t take hours prepare something halfway healthy to eat.
My gym membership is $23 a month. I can go to any planet fitness no matter where I am.
$23 is less than a beer and gut bomb cheeseburger.

But that’s not even the biggest thing. We don’t HAVE to eat like pigs. We don’t HAVE to eat 3-4 meals every day and shove 5000 calories or more down our gullets.
We don’t have to sport drink like on beer fest.
And if someone does, cool, but I think it sucks that I have to help pay for it.

I still have a way to go for weight loss. But I’ve turned my habits around starting 4 years ago.

Results will vary, of course (genetics), but that's not the measure.

Thing is, can get away with it for a long time without consequence until metabolism changes, T drops, and begin losing muscle.

There's a lot of what the market will bear. But there is also the American litigation expenses. That's a very real consideration. In EU if you die after taking 10X the dose because your daughter's wedding is 6 weeks away and you want to be thin in time, it's just the luck of the draw for your husband.

In America, your lawyers will have you in a new zip-code and DCB after that occurrence. Probably dating your daughter's friends too, with that kind of money.

In any of the single payer / fascists healthcare systems, only the super wealthy and the rulers can get it for weight loss. For the plebs, it's not even an option.

So here’s the bottom line guys in case you haven’t really considered it here comes a point in your life as you get older where you don’t think in terms of years as much as you do weeks and months and there’s a finite amount of them available to you so the reality for me is I’m overweight. I need to lose weight and there’s not a timeframe that allows for several months or years of rehabilitation in the gym and this compound seems to work in offers some quick solution and if it for some reason has side effects and becomes a problem for me, I really don’t care, just wanna get back to my "fighting weigh"

It’s not that the valve of stocks have gone up, it’s that the dollar is at an all time low, record inflation. Boo.

My price with capitalism insurance is the same as the eurotrash fascist single payer healthcare. The difference is that my healthcare isn’t rationed only to only the powerful like what you promoted. I don’t have to buy it illegally on the back market.

I sat on this for a day or so... I have no qualms about where I am...and you have no knowledge of it. If you are sincere I appreciate the sentiment..

A negativity has infected this forum in areas...often by "new" posters. A piece of advice, whether you take it or not (or stay). Many of us know eachother offline, hang out, do lake/desert/snow stuff together. Some of us have kids who are in the same classes, grandkids who associate whatever... While this board is big...many of the core "frequent" posters are not hidden behind a screen name. They are helping each other with RDP Express, kids fundraisers, events, a beer in the garage, a solution to a problem, advice, and yes in this case health discussions...even if inmates don't know eachother offline some epic friendships have been formed, favors done, fundraisers you name it..this board is full of some of the greatest men (and women) I've come to know in life. I don't honestly care what your opinion of me is...nor my choices on a health or fitness journey... Some others on here yea I may care a bit..because they are people I associate with..and their thoughts/encouragement matter... Some random noob who bashes people who realize there is an issue and want to do something about it? Yea no...but the negativity by a select few is a cancer that I hope is addressed.. Anymore..good threads go south and the same people seem to piss in them.. Everyones solution, health, timeline, etc are different.. Stupid AF to bash anyone trying too better themselves...and I doubt they'd have the stones to say the same shit in public.

I sat on this for a day or so... I have no qualms about where I am...and you have no knowledge of it. If you are sincere I appreciate the sentiment..

A negativity has infected this forum in areas...often by "new" posters. A piece of advice, whether you take it or not (or stay). Many of us know eachother offline, hang out, do lake/desert/snow stuff together. Some of us have kids who are in the same classes, grandkids who associate whatever... While this board is big...many of the core "frequent" posters are not hidden behind a screen name. They are helping each other with RDP Express, kids fundraisers, events, a beer in the garage, a solution to a problem, advice, and yes in this case health discussions...even if inmates don't know eachother offline some epic friendships have been formed, favors done, fundraisers you name it..this board is full of some of the greatest men (and women) I've come to know in life. I don't honestly care what your opinion of me is...nor my choices on a health or fitness journey... Some others on here yea I may care a bit..because they are people I associate with..and their thoughts/encouragement matter... Some random noob who bashes people who realize there is an issue and want to do something about it? Yea no...but the negativity by a select few is a cancer that I hope is addressed.. I'm going to follow some other recently departed friends this year and take a break, idk if permanent or not..but the fucking negative energy infecting this place gets old.

The negativity does get old, most people on here are good hearted and bring genuine kindness and help where they can. There are those we all know on here that let their personel demons and short falls bring out their worst. I don't get it!! I have no time for that. Overall RDP is 99% good. That 1% is all people remember. For example, I live in Vista/ border Oceanside. Very heavy military presence and most locals are fed up with military do to the occasional guy doing dumb shit. That's all they remember, they don't even think of the others that bring honor and respect every day. They are all just lumped together.

For this thread I commend anyone on their journey. I think you need to have a couple things to be successful.
- Mental stability/ clear head
- drive
- desire to make a change
- motivation, could be health, hot chick, upcoming vacation.
- discipline
- resources to make this happen
- support from others

It does not need to be in this order and 1 point will trigger another and then all of a sudden you are having success. I am 43, I fell off for a bit after a entire life of being healthy. 100 excuses. Finally got my head straight and then forced myself to get back at it and all the rest fell into place. I also started TRT 10 months ago. My brother and I constantly check on each other's progess and accountability.

My mom after stating us kids ruined her and that rolled into embarrassment, always in the back hiding in photos, and many more examples. She decided to get the lap band surgery about 5 years ago. She lost the weight, gained confidence and is just kicking ass as all the other points above fell into place.

My dad, 67 years old retired cop. He was in shape, athlete his entire life and is just over it in regards to working out. He will start a fad diet, go to gym 2 times and then crush McDonald's and just get fatter. We have all tried to help him. He needs to make a personel choice or have a life threatening event that scares him into change. He won't do lap band because he likes food to much and very picky eater. I believe he needs Ozempic. Will it help, I don't know. My
Hope is it will kick start the other points I listed and the journey will get easier. He has the money, he has the support, he just needs something else.

After this long winded response I say do whatever it takes and fuck anyone who stands in your way!! If you need support PM me and we can start a accountability text string and I will be your support. No excuses, do whatever it takes to stay on this side of the dirt!!

Just because you are thin or not over weight does not mean you are healthy. I use to eat like crap. It was a lot easier to eat healthy when I retired. Not sure i would have the time while working/kids etc...

What I do not get is why it is so much cheaper to eat crap food vs healthy food. Probably cheaper to manufacture than healthy.
