Why not fix all those broken body parts?

Knees and hips are suppose to be fairly easy to replace, but you probably have to stop drinking for 6 months while you fully recover, and go to physical therapy.

Probably good time start taking the diet drugs is while your in rehab. 🥹
Knees and and Hip are replaced I guess I wasnt clear on that BUT those spread out over a relatively short period of time , lead to my lack of exercise and creeping wieght gain , no ones fault but mine however at 70+ plus I still work two Jobs which consume alot of my time (running my business's ) combination of those circumstances doesnt allow for alot of time to "get in shape" ergo weight gain

Yup, that's why I haven't been to eager to try the newer meds. After getting my diet and exercise in check there's been a few times where I became borderline hypoglycemic. In fact I carry a little baggy of glucose chewables with a note inside that says if you are reading the note, and you find me unconscious, pop a couple of those into my mouth. :oops:
Not sure about all the products mentioned in this thread. C-2 for sure stick with the Metformin. 👍

I've been on it for a couple years now. I am Type 2 and just the basic dose .5 gives me 5.6 A1C Numbers.
I have noticed the neuropathy in my feet is slowly getting better.

My new insurance doesn't want me on it and wants to try something else. Now my copay is $100 per mo.
I think I send them a guinea pig and tell them to practice on that. I went through freaking hell getting used to Oz a couple years back.

Weight loss...I am not willing to up the dose so I don't think its had much effect. What I am doing with my diet on my own terms seems to be slowly removing the weight

I do both. Who takes these drugs and still eats shitty? Whats the point then?

Forget the meds and do low carb or carnivore. Cut the ultra processed shit foods, dump sugars and substitutes. Taking drugs to regulate a problem directly related to diet and then keeping the same or similar diet is crazy. They want us sick and on meds that's the whole freaking scam. My wife and I both are low carb almost always carnivore for 18 months. Both of us are in better health than we've been in years. Labs are coming back excellent as well. That's my personal experience.

The problem I have with taking a large dose of Oz is this drug is pretty new. I am dealing with Vertigo and dizziness with zero history of it. My A1C was in the low 7's on everything they tried in pill form. Was told its insulin 2x a day or this Oz. I chose Oz because... once a week. Tini needle also. I will not be asking for the weight loss min of 1.25 anytime soon. My last blood test labeled me a well controlled on the .5 dose.

I mix my diet with random fasting, Isagenix products, more fruits and veg., and meat. Anything that looks like bread I try to avoid. Fast food is 90% gone from my diet and I used to live on that and beer.

It just may be faster and easier to increase the dose and drop the rest of my weight faster? Don't know.

I do 20 grams or less a day and exercise daily. The part that the drug helps with is the food noise. Being addicted to food, I guess I am "cheating" by using it for that help. But its helped me stick to my goals and keep focused.

About one year into the carnivore my wife's near sightedness which had developed in her mid 40's is now totally gone. I'm low carb / carnivore as much as possible and It's crazy how cutting out all the crap,,albeit difficult to do, really works and has other positive side effects. We have a couple friends on wegovy who will definitely pack the weight back on again down the road , and have had upset stomach from it . FDA is in bed big time with big food and big Pharma at the same time so keep that in mind--

How many people exercise. I mean serious exercise. Waliking is a good start but you really need to lift weights. Increasing muscle mass with a good diet is what you want to do. You naturally lose myscle after 40. Lifting will counter act the muscle loose. If you are loosing muscle you are losing bone. They go hand in hand.

If you look at the drugs you loose 40%muscle. They also increase fat cells so if you ever go off the drugs you will gain the weight back faster and more of it.

Besides lifting sprinting is a great exercise. When was the last time anyone sprinted. I am 66 and sprint.

We have been lied to about animal fats and carbs. Animal fats are good for you. It is were the nutrients are. Carbs on the other hand drive insulin high which is bad.

The Hindus in India are vegetarians. They also have high rates of heart disease.

Dementia is being called type 3 diabetes. A high carb diet is bad for your brain. 2 harvard doctors Independent of each other published papers earlier this year. According to thier research a keto or carnivore diet is the best way to treat depression and other neurological disorders. Keto was/is used by the mayo clinic to treat epilepsy.

Before taking a glp1 drug or getting a gastric bypass a person should try carnivore for 30 dayss

I know you are speaking to folks that are not aware of a low carb lifestyle, but I have been a follower of it for 20 years when I am being disciplined and "doing the right thing". I 100% agree with you on all fronts.

Low Carb has always been my savior over the year and probably saved me from being 500lbs. But this last go around, I needed a little help in the psych dept. and had to try something additional.

On that same note, I have friends that are taking GLP1's and eat and drink more then when they didnt. LOL....because they dont take it serious.

I don't see anything wrong using current methods of treatment when one knows what their issues are and realizing that help is needed. I am not too proud to say it either.

I lost about 50 lbs when I stopped drinking daily over a year. Then I had a blood test and my AIC was in the 12's. Thats after already cutting back on my own. I am happy with what I am doing currently and admitting I need the Ozempic to keep me off Insulin.

I am happy for you also for taking command and doing what you need.

I have a cousin who has been a vegetarian most of his life, as has his wife. She somehow is way overweight (no meat doesn’t mean no carbs, right?)) and has thyroid problems. He is now nearly blind, and has serious heart disease. I’m no expert, but I think there’s a nutrition problem happening there.

Diet, diet, diet! Try for a month of only eating natural foods. If it grows from the ground or eats something that grows from the ground. It seems hard but it isn’t.

I’ve eat 4 eggs and 4 pieces of bacon every morning for breakfast, red meat for lunch, fruit for snacks, and as much meat and veggies I can eat for dinner. I eat as much as I want this way and never portion my food. It’s been great.

My cholesterol and blood sugar are lower than they have ever been.

Last November I started doing this and I’ve lost nearly 30lbs and added muscle.

I recall hearing, "If it comes from a plant or eats plants, it's good. If it is made in a plant, it's no good."

Classic example is Monster energy drinks. Made from a mixture of chemicals in a plant. Coffee? Ground up seeds from a plant with hot water poured over the top.

Agree. I think the hardest part for most is just how to actually pay for and pull off sticking to the diet with work and social stuff, and I know without my wife prepping it I'd need help. Ironically in our case I have / had zero issues, we have no diabetes in the family etc but when my wife got infected after a burst appendix after much trial and error the Carnivore approach is the only thing that works for her which now makes sense . We work out 5-6 days a week and I've actually lost a little weight I'd like back but it is what it is. I had no problem 100% cutting out soda, desserts, ice cream other than once in a long while. Alcohol I try to minimize social beers/ none alone, and cocktails soda water mix only and limit the # to below binge levels with consistent pattern of "off" days.
A few other improvements that come to mind are - tendonitis= gone, resistance to common cold type viruses = up, sleep patterns= perfect, lower back and shoulder/ neck pains from athletics /surfing/ mn bike/ waterski etc = quicker recovery, belly fat= gone + replaced by old man 6 pack. My cheats are usually going out to dinner at a fish house or similar and eating some sourdough or potatoes, chips and salsa, rice in sushi, sauces, etc but it isn't daily by any means. Breakfast we pre make Sunday to last 5 days or so - eggs and meat. I do a little shake mix of collagen, minimal whey protein and a little creatine, colostrum ( game changer for digestive problems if anyone has them), a drop of iodine, and nattokinase /fish oil/ marrow/ liver pills staggered cycles. Lunches we prep also and with my job I have to skip the prepped ones here or there but I try to order as smart as possible. Putting on my foil hat, there are probably not enough healthy fats/ foods readily available in the US for the entire populace to eat daily....

I am Type 2 Diabetic; I take 1000 MG of Metformin twice a day to control my blood sugar. I have cut out all sugar in drinks, no potatoes, no fast food, no processed meats and limit all bread to one serving a day. I am 57 yrs old have been on the heavier side since High School. Dr ask me 6 months ago if I wanted to go on the "shot". I said I will continue to try to get better control with Diet, well it isn't working. My A1C hovers in the high 7's, so it looks like I will be going on the "shot". I could lose 20lbs and be at my high school graduation weight, so that would be another positive outcome...............we will see.

Yea that's my life now, always got a pocket full of them, did a dirt sample few months ago when I was walking the dog, spent 4 days in ER, blood sugar don't play when its low.

At least some people went to endocrinologists and figured out something was up then did something to fix their levels and reverse the course... You can't just go get it off the street like the Sinaloa sinus sauce...

Post up your diet and exercise regimen for the last 5 years and members will tell you the other causes of weight gain.

It’s amazing how fast the weight falls off when only eating natural non-processed foods. More then the weight loss the benefits I’ve experienced are satiation (I don’t feel hungry throughout the day), better mood, better sleep, more energy, ability to exercise at higher rates and more frequently, libido, and aches and pains seem the have dwindled (less inflammation caused by processed foods).

My tin foil hat has gotten quite a bit bigger since changing the way I eat, I don’t even call it a diet. How can my cholesterol levels and my blood sugar be better then ever at 43 years old when I eat eggs, bacon, and ribeyes everyday!?! I completely agree with “wing nuts” like RFK Jr. who are say we’re poisoning our children with the foods our government tells us we need to eat.

It sounds like a lot of these meds are causing ya'll to actually fast or at the least cut down on your calorie intake. Fasting has been proven to have great benefits. Loss of weight, less joint pain, less chronic nausea, clearer vision, etc. Once you get past the first couple of days your body goes into Ketosis and is burning the fat that is stored. The trouble with fat is the cell never goes away. Once a fat cell has grown and divided, it is forever there. When you lose weight, the cell empties, but the cell remains. It takes more work for the body to divide the cell than just refill it. That's why fat returns so easily.

As a type 1 diabetic I know all too well what sugar does. Whether it's in the form of simple sugar, ie white or brown sugar, or complex sugars, ie bread, corn products, pasta. That shit is in everything.

Last year I was diagnosed with PMR. One thing I have noticed is that when I eat carbs and sugars, I can barely move. My joints basically lock up and the pain is excruciating. Tingling and numbness in the hands and fingers. Popping and cracking from my shoulders. Some days I am a hot mess. That being said when I eat better I feel better and the pain and stiffness is easier to manage.

I have been fasting since Sunday because I just had a Endoscopy and colonoscopy (Just a few polyps in my stomach and no cancer in my colon this time)on Tuesday and I feel really good. I'm down about 5 pounds and I am in ketosis and can tell. My belly and handles are already smaller. I will start to introduce small carnivore type meals to my diet this week and see how it goes.

Tirzepatide Compound. Started about 5 weeks ago and down 10 lbs without changing food habits much, just less of it. I am up to 50ml per week now from lowest dose of 25ml, usually bloated and a little naucious the day of the shot. Definitely have little appetite for a few days but it starts to come back on like day 4-5. I think I am going to try and do 1/2 doses every 3.5 days, especially when I go up to the next dose. Costs about $350/mo. Would like to lose 60lbs in a year. I am going to start a more low carb diet here soon to help lose faster.

So if you are overweight and eat and drink like shit then take a drug that will make you lose weight, won’t you have to take it for life to keep weight off if you still eat and drink the same way??? I would imagine so. Soo…what the dealio? What percentage of people do you think change their eating and drinking habits because I assume once you get to a comfortable weight you can change all that and be good to go and get off the drug.
I’m actually curious

Can i ask how many carbs you eat a day? Also do you do intermittent fasting. I eat in a short window usualy about 4 hours.

It’s not so much about the weight, as it is about problems it’s causes as the years go by.

I’m 63 now, and get checked every year. This year I met my deductible early, and piled on a bunch of additional tests, you normally don’t get.

Also got a touch up of RF ablation on my lower back.

There is no reason to live in discomfort, if you have insurance. See your doctor and get it figured out. 😉

Dr bikman is a leading expect on insulin, diabetes etc. one of the things they talk about is why you are hungry all the time.

TRT and hitting the gym 4-5 days a week has been a life changer.

All 3 lifts (dead, bench and squat) are over 300 now and shooting for 400 by my next bday. Also going to attempt crossfit open next year.

That said I’m still fat 😂😂 but am a much stronger and healthier fat guy.

Here was my lunch today . We’ve figured out if you’re still hungry or craving something else but don’t want more of what you’re eating you’re not actually hungry it’s just your body jonesing for bad shit lol

I'm a truck driver I used to make two runs a night from SD to LA around 600mi a night and every bit of twelve hours a night if there was no problems then it was home to get the kids to school then sleep pick the kids up from school make dinner and back to LA. After driving 600mi a day you are not going to the gym

I don’t drive a truck 600 miles a day not even sure where that came from. I get up at 4:30 in the morning to work out at 5:30. Back home shower and am at work by 8am. I do that every weekday. Take the weekends off

I did ozmepic for about 3 months dropped 30lbs and have maintained it. It’s not just full feeling it gives you. It takes cravings off the table.
The draw back is some foods that you currently love, could flip on you and suddenly they sound not so good. Same goes for drinks. Soda, tea, Gatorade, beer, hard alcohol etc. As far as being worried about drinking beer you’ll be fine, but you’ll likely drink less, then realize you’re not actually craving it as much. It’s currently being studied to help with alcoholism also ( because it makes the noise go away with alcohol same as it does for food )
Nausea and cramping seem to be biggest side effect with most people. If you start it don’t race to get to the higher dose ( they say real weight loss starts at 1.0-1.25-1.5 etc ) bullshit. Stay at what ever your body agrees with. Once you truly don’t feel any different then go to next step. With dr supervision / direction, don’t suggest the online dr or friend supply situation.

For those concerned about long term. Glp1‘s are not new. They’ve been in use for about 20 years now. Yes there are negatives but for many the positives out way the negatives. This isn’t liquid speed, lol

My workouts on average are 40 minutes and a huge majority of it is body weight exercises. I’m sure if there was a will there’s a way to squeeze 40 minutes of activity somehweee in anyone’s day using body weight exercises. Prison style workouts are extremely effective. Sit up’s push ups burpees squats jumping jacks etc will get the heart pumping. And create amazing results.

I’ve been doing a simple workout that has been quick and difficult!

15 min cardio warm up
20 pull ups
30 push ups
30 sit ups
20 leg lifts
30 lunges
20 burpees

At first it would take me 4-5 try’s to get 20 pull ups and so on. But kept at this simple routine that can be done in 45min to 1hr and things are going smoother. No gym membership needed.

The absolute most hardest thing about changing your diet or exercising is STARTING. Once you start it gets easier. Get your hormones, vitamins, and food where they should be and they all exacerbate each other.

Food is fuel for your body try to put in the best fuel you can. Would you put bad gas in your boat/truck just because it was cheap?

Can i ask how many carbs you eat a day? Also do you do intermittent fasting. I eat in a short window usualy about 4 hours.
I have never really counted.

What I have found with the Metformin, that when I eat carbs or fats (fried food), it really upsets my stomach now, so naturally I stay away.

Started in Feb, to help regulate my blood sugar. I wasn't concerned with weight loss but it has been a great side benefit. My last labs came back perfect and I am down almost 70 lbs. It took me 4-5 months to get to a full dose, I have Kaiser and it's about $40 a month. 2mg once a week.
Which one did Kaiser prescribe Wegovy, Ozempic, Mounjaro, Zepbound or ?

I was on TRT as well but I cant keep my Red Blood Cell count down and it thickened up my blood. LOved the effects of it the few months I could inject.

A lot of people want to talk about exercise, we all know it works (helps). A couple things to remember on these boards, we are all different ages and different people, and nothing works for everyone. For example, my foot/ankle doctor has told me to stop any exercise with impact, that rules out any CrossFit. I used to do crossfit, started having different physical issues. Wake up and couldn't walk. Ended up that my feet/ankles are thrashed from years of injuries. So my workouts now are a walk with the dog, some rows, a few push ups once in awhile.

My point, we are all different and we all need to find our zone with everything.

Start 16:8 then 18:6 then taper down to a 1 hr window.
To make it easier;
Cut carbs (anything white -sugar, flour, salt, rice and potatoes).
Increase healthy fat (meat).
It's not that hard and after a few days - you'll feel 5 years younger.
After a few months, you'll feel 20+ years younger.

I would recommend counting your carbs and protiens. Carbs should be whole food not bread etc. Aim for 50 or less. You can aim for zero as you dont need them. Next is aiming for 1 gram protien be target body weight. Have as much fat as you want. Protien should be paired with fat. Any chicken you eat should have the skin. I put flavored butter on my steaks. I mix bacon fat with my hamburger etc. Eggs and bacon are good for you.

Skim milk is bad, mostly surgar. Whole milk is better not great.

When i am trying to get some extra protien i mix a protien powder with half and half. I do drink straight half and half on occasion.

I think one of the most important things to do is avoid vegetable oil. Unless the food is fried in animal fat i rarely eat it and only a small amount. Avoid sugar and flour. The fried chicken had flour and oil.

Our bodies are meant to be worked. Exercise as much as you can. Take stairs, walk, lift weights etc. start slow and build up. Doesnt matter your age or condtion. For me i lift weights and sprint. Yes i am 66 and sprint. This is me

And how might you get all of your protein needs? Assuming you want to build or at minimum maintain.

I did intermittent fasting for a while. Stopped and went to breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Small snacks mixed in. 1+ gram of protein per body pound. I quickly saw more gains and reduced fat. (I keep track with an inbody scan regularly) I could not hit those goals (protein and calories) by fasting.

At the end of the day, you need to eat healthy and clean.

Same happened to me and took a long time to come back to normal. The only thing that got me back to normal levels was to start donating blood every 3 months.
