You're probably right. I'm going back tomorrow with the wife and will probably tell him I will beat the other guys offer by 1K. I really want this thing.

F that show up on Tuesday and wait for him to show up and tell them get the f out of there if he wants to see tomorrow, it's your boat. Then offer less for it to the prick dealer.

Fawk that.

Show up tomorrow and DON'T let him know you want it (even though you do)

Tell him you found another boat. A better boat that you are going to get. That is unless he makes you an offer you can't refuse. :p

Come on Grads. Lets start negotiating.

Post some pictures of these bad mamma jamma. I have always wanted one of these but its not in the cards.

Where is the stripper pole going? :p

You're going about this all wrong buddy. You need to get the leverage here. I don't know the market as I've been out of boat sales for over a decade and I don't follow the cruiser market, but you could easily be playing against yourself and don't even know it. This dealer has you by the balls and maybe a dildo [emoji41] and it would be foolish to offer up more cash. Sit tight and you could save 2k.

Agreed. If first guy walks away, no reason to offer full ask. I would offer less knowing you can keep going up. Once they are under agreement with first guy, even if you offer more all your doing is showing how much you are willing to pay for the next boat that comes along for sale.

Call the sales manager and explain the situation.

I'm sure he would have a different perspective on the matter and would love to take more than asking......

I have never worked at a Boat dealership that a boat was saved without a deposit. Something is not right with this deal!

This is Lake Tahoe, there are homes that have been owned by the same family for generations. The boat dealers up there know their clients. You don't take the chance of pissing off a local.

Some Formula information: Not sure about the cruiser line 100%, but the gofast line of Formulas late 90's models, maybe early 2000', had issues with the "Grid System" formula uses. They don't use a traditional stringer system. They use a grid system that is fabricated separately then is glued to the hull with plexus. Several guys with 35's found the grid system didn't fit perfectly and was not glued to hull floor securely or evenly throughout, so the grid system wasn't bonded to the hull in many sections, there were gaps in adhesion, especially in the engine bay area, resulting in the hull cracking and needing to have substantial work done to re-strengthen and repair the boat that required the engines to be pulled and extensive work done in the engine bay. The hull cracked at the step area on a few from an outside view, and cracks could be seen in the inner liner in the engine bay. Formula has a nice video on their website showing the grid system and plexus bonding method in their build video.

No way a survey could have found this as the issue lies beneath the flooring and inner liners they install. Apparently it doesn't show itself until the damage starts or a very thorough inspection is done. I think all Formulas mid 90-s up use this system. Most boats that seemed to have this issue the common denominator was blanks or plugs installed in the liner that it was surmised to add in more plexus once the liner was installed. The repairs were labor intensive and nasty as the plexus was almost concrete like. Theres a few threads on offshoreonly in the formula section with pics and description of the repair process undertaken. Otherwise formula does a nice job on their boats. Best of luck in your search and purchase, hope you find the perfect boat your looking for.

I called them up and told them I was Grads gay lover and the interior color wasn't quite right for our next photo shoot. it may have put them off a bit. :thumbsup

I'll give the place a call tomorrow and ask if midgets count on the hull capacity or if we can double it, because you know... midgets. :drunk

Hopefully the rigging department can add a ramp for the donkey and another washdown pump to clean up the golden showers.

I agree with most of the comments. I could be getting worked over by a slick salesman or it's more of a good old boys network. We'll find out tomorrow.

Reading this thread you gotta wonder if the behavior of some of the inmates isn't worse than Grads..

Did you end up getting the boat Grads? I thought you were looking at larger ones like 40's?

Kinda falls in the category of..."you reap what you sow".
Nobody on this website trolls/derails/phuck's up threads like grads..

I love the fact that he gets back what he puts out.

Greg, I thought you were getting a bigger one? no? I saw some 36' cruisers running around the delta with a boat loan of people partying. :thumbsup This is what I envisioned for you.:skull Where is the stripper pole going to go on that small thing. :p

Grads in the Delta, that's funny. I couldn't even lure him out when he had his supercharged Daytona against my naturally aspirated Daytona.

Lol

I should be more clear. I saw OTHER people out on the delta having fun on those cruisers

I envisioned Grads on his cruiser anchored in his mud hole of a lake :p

I've got a call in, just waiting to hear back.

We would like to have a bigger one but the boat still needs to be trailerable. 33' is about as big as we'd go but even then it has over a 10' beam. The 280 is perfect as it is only 9' 2''. With so much water around us I don't want to be tied to one body of water.

Looks like a nice ride and much easier to trailer, like you said. What power? Closed cooling? It should do really well at Tahoe.

It's got the Mecruiser 6.2's which is kind of rare on these. Usually they have the 5.0 or 5.7's. I don't think they are closed cooling.

Just an update... The dealer just called and told me buyer #1 is scheduled to look at the boat tomorrow night or Thursday morning. I told him to call me afterwards regardless of the outcome. I told him if the guy doesn't buy it I will be there 2 hours later.

I thought it was Tuesday ????

That blows. At least they called you. I hung out on Jay & Sherry's (330ss) for a few minutes last weekend. There were 10 people on board and it didn't feel crowded.

Something here just doesn't seem right.......

I agree. I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for the burger I eat today.

Grads is a buyer went there with a checkbook to buy the boat and the dealer is like I'm waiting for a guy on Thursday. WTF

It's called being sold to a friend. Or it's in on trade and there is a hang up with the deal.
