Just so you all know the listed power band for the 400R is 6400-7000rpm. 7000 is not the redline and with VV7 you can adjust the redline some.

I did it with my 300XS and it doesn't take any special computer mods. I spoke with Nordic and Mercury before doing this and adjusted mine to 6450rpm redline when the factory sets the power band at 5400-6100rpm and 6150 limiter.

there is no way you can adjust the RPM limiter of the 400R through a VV7. it is a monitoring device only. who from Mercury and Nordic showed you how to do this?

Yes Stock boxes

The 28 Speedsters were not Stock, and the boat was so stripped down it didn't even have drain plugs or bilge pumps. So I heard.

the lightest 28 Speedster that ran 128 with 34's and 132 with 36's had stock ECU's. it did not have drain plugs or bilge pumps which saved 18 lbs or about 0.03 mph.

I don't know for a fact about the 400 but on the 300xs you sure a shit can adjust the rpm limiter with VV7. I did it with no special code, you go right into the settings and change the limiter. Mike from Mercury not sure of his last name and John from Nordic. BTW the hard limiter on the 300xs is 6550 and you can not change that but the factory soft limiter at 6100 you can change anywhere up to the 6550.

Right from the manual. IMG_4735.jpg

I've never seen anything that convinces me that Skater has some speed advantage in smaller water, especially the smaller models.

basic physics says that the shallower the tunnel, the greater the lift. getting tunnels further from the water, ie deeper, like skater, improves rough water handling while lowering surface velocity.

I am very happy with our M29. I looked at Nordic and Eliminator but really liked the fit and finish of the DCB. Also having a DCB for many years prior played a factor. Now after running the boat for many hours I am delighted with my decision.

It should be noted that getting a boat that is the fastest in its class was not my priority, good manors at all speeds and sexy lines was.

The Nordic 28SS was 2nd in line but lost out due to interior layout and size.

Yep and when you decide to move to a bigger boat, just drive that sled down here and I'll take good care of her...:D

Get in line!! Thank you for the high praise, means a lot coming from such a discerning boater.

Seriously though we like this platform due to the ability to have nice rear hatch and easy access to the water. The 31 and 35 are challenging to board.

So I thought it was the sister boat I mentioned on another post which it is not....havnt seen it in years so after pulling the cover back it is this boat in this pic the only twin engine one. Ive been 140 in this boat and it was rock solid believe twin viper motors was the power then its being empowered now!
E-ticket should introduce this boat back to the market it will sell

You can't get there (130 MPH) with stock ECM's - the only gear ratio selection is 1.75. Biggest pitch prop is 36. Assuming 10% slip and on the rev limiter at 7000 you get 122.69 mph in perfect conditions

Change the rev limit to 7500 you get there 131.46 MPH

Take a look on Utube at the new style Doug Wright running with stock 400's (the one with the full wrap windshield) that was rigged at Grant's Signiture rigging in Florida). You will see the actual RPM's and MPH that was acheived with stock 400 ECM's - dead on the money at 122 MPH on the limiter

Something about this isn't right.. the bullheadbully boat is already pulling numbers higher than 122 and it is one stock.

That boat didn't have stick ecu's..

This boat had viper motors in it? I thought they were NASCAR motors or something like that when they built it?

Eliminator now has a full inner-liner mold for the 27' and soon the 28' Speedster Outboard versions. Gives the customer much more flexibility in their build ... more space, more seating options, etc.

The 28 OB is on my short list of favorite boats, but it's been needing more useable cabin area and less unused under hatch space. I'd love to see the first 28 with a little more cabin room! It should be a great seller. Any estimate to when it could be done?

I have been looking fairly close at these lately. Useful space is definitely a consideration.

If you are looking at Spectre I know the guy who owns the 32' orange and white one with 400's. It has 17 hours on the motors and he will make you an unbelievable deal if you are truly interested.

John?

Number ends in 2368?

If so, can you PM me your opinion and thoughts on that boat please if you have been in it? I REALLY like that package, just would like some real world feedback on the setup.

Ditto, please share your findings. I am also curious of handling, porpoise(what speeds)(how bad), planing off, windshield effectiveness, and so on.

I'm surprised we haven't heard more performance reviews on the Spectre. Interesting with the 400's and updated dash. I wonder if they can get rid of the width wide compartment in the hatch to create a little more room and a little less storage. The idea of having a versatile boat for Lakes or Ocean would be nice!
