For anyone that hasn't followed any of this. Today is the last day of the prosecution stating there case. The defense will start their case Tuesday. Most people watching the trial has wondered when the prosecution was going to pull all there evidence together, they are doing a fine job today.

We had heard there was life insurance. May have got that confused with prosecutors said Murdaugh got his home insurers to pay more than $4 million in wrongful-death claims in the Satterfield case.

This is interesting too:
Around 23 minutes in this pod cast they list Maggie's assets, or what is known and what would happen to them.

So that's what you get for defense lawyers when knowing they can't get paid! -- TV/You tube advertising!

There are several live feeds that is just the one I have been watching. I like when they give their take on what has happened however I realized today that I am probably a little bias because I haven't branched out and heard other peoples thoughts.

I think you’re “bias” ok. Most of us hope they hang him first, by his nuts, before giving him multiple electric shocks,

Almost time. Suppose to start at 9:30 eastern time
All the live feeds are the same so if you want to find a different one for whatever reason. Court TV is supplying the feed for all the people doing live feed online.

Buster definitely is standing behind his dad.

They don't care what the evidence sounds like. They are trying to raise doubt to the jury. Also I think Paul was around that height 5'4" 5'5". Murder suicide defense maybe?

Yikes, Mark Ball on the stand is definitely backfiring on the defense. 😳😆

Funny, it's all over national news. Will AM take the stand tomorrow?

My guess is he does and pleads the 5th for anything that he doesn't have an answer for.

No way he skates. He called and specifically asked his wife and son to meet him at the property. They had been elsewhere. His timeline has been shredded. There's a Snapchat video that has his voice on it placing him at the murder scene less than ten minutes before the murders, and he claims he wasn't there. The clothes he was wearing an hour before the murders have disappeared, and he was wearing different and clean clothes when law enforcement showed up.

The Blackout .300 rifle used to murder his wife was identical to one his dead son owned, and it's missing. The shell casings at the murder scene matched other old Blackout casings found at the property firing range, and a weapons tech testified the casings found at both places were fired from the same gun. There's more. I'd say all that is pretty solid evidence.

The defense has made two critical errors that they can't recover from. The first one was asking prosecution witnesses on cross examination about Murdaugh's family devotion and his character. The witnesses all agreed he was a family man, loved his wife and son and so on. They were laying groundwork for his defense.

But the DA correctly asked the judge for an in camera hearing (the jury is excused) and argued because the defense had brought up the defendant's character, the prosecution could refute that testimony by bringing in the financial crimes because that spoke to his character as well, and that he committed the murders to hide the theft and embezzlement.

The judge agreed, and the parade of witnesses over the last two weeks that testified about the theft of $5 million from his law firm, $3 million from clients, and over $2 million from a local bank landed blow after blow. He had been stealing from the law firm and clients since 2011. The day of the murders, he was confronted by the law fim's CFO about $792,000 in client and law firm funds that were missing. He had also opened a DBA account that spoofed the name of a legitimate financial services firm, and had checks supposedly intended for that firm deposited in the fraudulent account.

The witnesses revealed how he was fired from the law firm and disbarred by the state. This also allowed his wife's sister to testify about the money worries the wife had, how her death had gutted her parents, and other damaging testimony.

Then yesterday and today, the defense did the same thing, mentioned in cross examination about the failed scheme Murdaugh hatched to have his drug dealer kill him so his surviving son could collect a $10 million insurance policy. The DA jumped on it, and the judge agreed testimony about the plot and Alex's $50,000 per week drug habit could come in (how the hell do you spend that much money on opioids without killing yourself?).

Besides these errors, the defense has failed to effectively counter prosecution witnesses. On cross they have wandered all over the place, asking inane questions and have not given the jury any indication at all they have a defense strategy.

The first rule of criminal defense is that you NEVER enter a line of questioning on cross examination that could expose the client to jeopardy. It's trial lawyer 101. Murdaugh's attorneys have been a disaster since the trial started, and the unbelievable unforced errors they made have guaranteed Murdaugh a life sentence without parole in AdSeg. He's going to be housed with the pedos, snitches, convicted cops, and other low lifes. If they put him in GP he'll be dead in six months.

The DA is a little bulldog, and Murdaugh's dirty laundry has wiped out any advantage his family legacy provided. He's fucked.
Did you really type all of that?

Yeah, I did. Discussing a complex subject takes more than three sentences. Sorry I taxed your reading comprehension abilities. Try the Speed Car thread.
Sorry. Even this post was too long to read. lol

You just seem really invested in this trial to type all that out. Not sure if I’m impressed or…

I didn't read it, I didn't feel like there was enough information that was not available to the public at the time of the post that it meant anything. It is a complex case for sure but unless you have an inside perspective with information not available to anyone else, your opinion means absolutely nothing. My opinion means absolutely nothing, period.

The DA's cross examination of Mark Ball was disastrous to the defense. You could tell Ball was more than angry that Murdaugh's actions took money from clients that desperately needed it and caused PMPED's failure. He completely trashed Murdaugh, livid that he breached his duty to the law and made it clear his three decade relationship with Murdaugh was built on deceit that was unforgivable.

It was also obvious that Ball, like PMPED partner Ronnie Crosby, had watched Paul Murdaugh grow from a small child into a young man they both loved, and Paul's death affected them deeply.

I agree. Ball's testimony was true and honest of his feelings. He hit a feeling with the audience I just hope the jury felt it.

They drug tested him once because the family passed him "something". That is why the family was moved back so they didn't have access. Probably still getting pills though. I never heard the results of the drug test.

I feel sorry for the next witness to have to get up on that stand with all the snot he's leaving up there.

A tell that I frequently recognize with people who are lying is they often touch their face. Dude won't touch it to clear the river of snot flowing, but will when talking details that could be damaging to this case.

It's amazing what power and money do to people, this is a perfect example. Kid crashes a boat and kills a girl, this dude steals millions from life long friends, he pays a guy to shoot him on the side of the road, now he stands trial for killing his estranged wife and son. Perfectly normal Americana daily life. Small potatoes compared to what goes on in Washington on a daily basis... Power and greed...

Haven't followed this at all. Zero. But, my wife has it on now. This is the first time I've watched any of it. I'm so sick of this idiot saying "Paw paw", or whatever the F it is, I wish somebody would just shoot him and put him out of his misery. I say, Guilty. 100%. Done, finished, it's over . . . . . But, I'm not usually one to jump to conclusions. This wouldn't be one of those times.

Curious, if he didn't do it, who does he say did? Could it have been those same darned 'Columbians' who butchered Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman??

Last I heard he said this may be related to [retribution for] his sons boat accident.

No one’s come forth nor any corroborating evidence backing that claim up.

Entitled, arrogant slime ball.

An interesting trial for sure.

Looks like they'll be firing up again at 11:45 PST... I'm just logging in. I watched the Netflix show last night. I know folks who live just up coast nearby in Myrtle Beach area and this is very accurate of the local culture .... teen kids are sweet and innocent by todays standards in big cities and I am a believer that a family like this group could easily have ultimate power over 3 generations. Interesting to note its the same judge today as back in 2015 when all this dying/killing began. Not sure how I feel about that. One things for sure after watching Netflix .... these kids all believe ole "Mr. Alex" is capable of killing anybody.

Cross examination after a break. This should be good.

The whole trial everyone that knows him has said he can and has fooled them for 40 years. I hope the jury was paying attention.

He said that to 911 operator, and to the first deputy to arrive at the murder scene before thirty seconds had passed, and repeated it to other individuals over twenty times that night.

It's well known to law enforcement that naming a possible suspect to police immediately after a murder occurs to deflect suspicion from oneself is a common tactic by the guilty.

I'm watching the trial on a delayed stream. Murdaugh just spent five minutes talking about how their dogs would piss on pine trees and catch chickens when they were let out of the kennels. This and other testimony that gives excruciating detail about non pertinent events seeks to draw attention away from the real subject, his behavior and whereabouts when the murders occurred.

Just wrapped it for day.... even more intrigued after watching ole Alex testify.... so rare that the accused would take stand. He did great and obviously built credibility with jurors in stating he lied, stole and confesses to being one super sized dick. Pretty smart defense .... but lets get back to talking about all these murders, lol.

We’ll get back to talking about murder after he says out loud that he lied to someone face-to-face;)
