Yes NDOT specification is a subterranean cage needs to be tie wired 50% with a tie each direction. Basically every other intersection has to be tied twice. To put it into perspective you're basically tying every single intersection between the hoops and vertical rebar. There's probably close to 1 thousand pounds of tie wire on a cage.

The couplers used are called zap-lok, this is our first time using this coupler, we typically use Dayton. Each of those bolts have a spike on the end that digs into the bar. We use a 1" pneumatic gun and rattle the bolts until the head snaps off. One single coupler weighs 79lbs, and is almost 30" long.

Here ya go monkey, this explains it.

Gotta be a certin level of satisfaction rattling bolts with a 1" gun until the head pops off and knowing you did it right! 😄

Probably the same satisfaction of writing a negative review on yelp about every place you eat at in Havasu.

@HBCraig have you been able to check one out yet? Seen one at the Lego store over the weekend in the box. Pretty cool, just freakin pricy. $800. Need a RDP group buy. Lol.
I cam hook that up. With crane models. Not a ton, but I can. If I have some store money left I can grab some models.

I was pulling some pics out of the recent project archive for some future work prequalifications and figured I'd try to compete with some of these crane pics from HBCraig. We welded the 23' diameter tunnel boring machine cutterhead and tail shield together in 2017 (that's what's happening in the first two pics) and then returned & fit & welded all the steel pipe on this project in 2020-2021 after the tunnel was complete. 2 miles of horizontal pipe 16' in diameter and 1" thick in a tunnel bored under a river. We also did about 500 vertical feet of shaft pipe that was 18' in diameter ranging in 1"-2" thickness.

We're always looking for self-motivated twenty-somethings kids wanting to make a couple hundred grand a year staring at a bright light through a hood :) A couple of our highest earners for 2022 were two twenty-somethings that started on this job with me in 2020, it was their first job with the company. Both made serious sacrifices and spent 9 months straight away from their young families (covid BS was a contributing factor to not travelling home), one of them had a 2 month old kid at home when he left town! How many people willing to leave a new child for almost a year to set themselves up for the future? They worked 12hr shift 6 days a week and made absolute bank. Life changing money. They got more experience welding in those 9 months than many guys do in half a decade. It was tough for them when we got back home from this because they had to go from all company provided gear and working on a single site to buying a rig, getting it setup, then learning the field work skills, then proving themselves self reliant and sufficient in the field bouncing from job to job daily in SoCal. It has paid off though and they're killing it now. They earn it, its not easy work. None of the labor trades are. God bless our tradesmen.

Been on this project for the last couple of years, 74+ acres, 4 story parking garage below grade with 24 acres per floor, numerous buildings above grade, several sports fields, a lake and so much more. The "art" trees cost more than people make in a lifetime and that doesn't include what my team put in place to support the art. I am not able to upload an amazing drone photo of the project... it is truly a once in a lifetime project. 4 years ago this project had more tower cranes on it than any other project in the world, and that included tower cranes on rails.

I know I'm a little late to the party. Do you know if this transformer was for an industrial or power transmission application? It looks like it was built for a steel mill electric arc furnace installation, but I'm not sure.

I haven't visited your thread for a while, and as always, I'm absolutely astounded by the equipment that Liebherr builds. I was checking out their mobile mining equipment a couple of days ago, and it's just incredible.

The R9800 excavator has a bucket capacity of 47 M³, that's 61.5 cu yds.

You know the VW Tourag? The mid size SUV

Well, our largest Gaul truck can fit 21 of them in the dump bed

Nice equipment.

The bad part is that probably means the existing wind turbine installations are being expanded in that pristine desert environment. Funny how the tree huggers ignore all of this.
Big wind towers are going in the plains, north Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas and the Dakotas
Massive. That's crawler work mostly.

Apex. Use to race out there. Fun times.

It's crazy how that used to be way out of town. Now, not so much

My daughter's boyfriend just got a job at this place. Pretty crazy, who knew!

Maybe they use a big crain service every now and then?

Yep. He's over it.

He Really wants to be a lineman, but this job popped up local to him, and he's learning all kinds of stuff. They do a little bit of everything building those things. 👍🏼
That hotshot stuff gets old. With his experience he would get scooped up by a municipality. He should take a couple tests and see what happens.
