i have 4 Edison style Light pendants over my kitchen island they are not even 4 months old

I can’t get replacement bulbs/lamps unless they are existing on a shelf at a supply house someplace.

mine are 75 watts and dont produce light - not bright enough so they got OUT LAWED / BANDED for life, you can purchase the fixture w/ lamp but not a replacement lamp/bulb

like LOF I’m off to a free country (AZ ) buy a decorative light bulb /lamp

My front door, back door, sliding doors, and my windows don’t have a power assist. My garage doors have a red dangling rope (which some morons would call a noose) I can pull that unlocks them, so I can manually lift the door with minimal effort.

But what do I know.

Yes I agree that I could do the same. The article mentioned a lady that could only raise the door a foot. I doubt most elderly Or a handicapped person would’ve been able to pull the rope and lift the door. That’s guessing they could even reach the rope if there is cars or other crap that people store in there garage. But what do I know. Change the battery when you change the batteries in the smoke detectors. Lol 😂

Mine works great. Heavy ass door too, but then again I’m not a cheap ass 😎

Is that a new door? If so did they require to change the opener. Hard to tell on my phone.

Looks like a new door with a new cheap entry level CA compliant chain drive opener, and house trim the big spender is too cheap to repaint :).

I already have a nice insulated door in good condition. Going to switch to a wall mount garage opener.

I thought we all tye wrapped our manual releases years back after the youtube vids showed a guy breaking in using a coat hanger inserted over the door top and unlatching the release. Especially vulnerable if you have windows in the roll-up.

Since everybody is bitching about something, I can't replace my HansGrohe Shower head with the same one. So I bought the new approved restricted version and I can piss harder. So I took the restrictor out and my wife complained it was so strong it hurt. o_O

Nope, door that came with the house. Motor went out a couple weeks ago. I could have waited for the bigger motor to come in, but I wanted it fixed the day it broke. As far as the trim, it needs a lot more than paint, but I’m sure that would be Mr cheap ass’s fix 😂😂😂

You mean you didn’t want to smuggle a new opener from AZ. 😷😄

But if your old and can’t lift it. It is now on everyone to make sure this never happens again. Instead of it being on the person who knows they can’t lift the door and need the back up. But as was said. Can’t fix stupid and fuck Ca and their stupid ass rules.

So do you have sensors for your door. Why does everyone need them. That was a new law back in the 90s. 🙃😝

Yes I do. Probably a law because some dumb ass people don’t check the door before closing it. [emoji33][emoji849]
And that is different argument/ safety feature.

That’s a good point, but are we saying people went into their garage to avoid a fire, or avoid a fire that had engulfed their entire house or what? I’m getting confused since my garages have doors into the house, windows, and of course the garage door. Three ways out.

Sounds like the back up battery is a safety feature for some. Same as a battery in your smoke detector if they are hard wired to your home. Which is another law. 👍

Don't get all technical here, he lost the manual, and has no clue what the release cord is. His idea is go on RDP and run this Piss Ant Problem into a 70 Post Thread.

If your house is on fire why would you go back in. Windows to the outside are rare in a new garages. Building codes are based on the worst case. Elderly and the handicap. I see it all the time in new construction and retrofits.

Why go to your garage to avoid a fire. Again. Seems like a bad choice. But let’s make another law because some people aren’t real bright.

For some. Sure. Don’t confuse a back up garage door battery with a fire alarm in your house.

If your house is on fire I agree getting the car out would be the last thing I would be worrying about. But being in the middle of the YL Wild fire about 10 years ago first thing I did was load up my Tahoe with what I thought I needed and got out of there. Some in the fire up north a few years ago weren’t that lucky.

Well my garage door opener took a dump today. CA says I must get one with a battery back up, and as such the Chamberlain jack shaft opener I like is not available for sale in this weather gifted state.

I will have to order the opener for delivery to the Lowe’s in Havasu and smuggle it back across the border.
I built half my house that way!

So between your broken english and Vic’s posts that read like an 8 year old girl’s, do either of you have any GOOD jabs you are capable of throwing my way?

I’m off to make a cocktail, I’ll check back later.

That’s the difference between you and me. I don’t need to waste my time taking jabs at you. You make an ass of yourself, all on your own. I wonder why my posts get likes and yours don’t 🙄

HEY VIC!! Let's let him sit. 👍

He can sit and have a "PERSONAL" Happy Hour.

VIC, is my Writing Skill that bad? LOF has been Obsessed with how awful it is for a couple of years now. I have been thinking about taking up a second Language, BUT DAMN. I need to master the English one first.

He is really stating to hurt my feelings and has me double and triple checking everything and just when I think it is fine.

He goes "Bird Shit" on me again.🤔

Fair enough, we will dumb it down so you can keep up.
It says you are 38 years old. Why do I get the feeling that was yet another counting error? 👁🔎

The whole neighborhood burned. The elderly could not outrun the fire and needed there vehicle to get away from the flames is my guess. Sad deal for sure. Should only be a requirement in fire zones not all of CA.

Working on a house now that requires all tempered windows as its in a fire zone. Customers don't want to pay extra but I don't want the liability of putting in non tempered. Is it what is. Only money.

When I bought mine a few years back, my opener had just broke. I suppose I could've fixed it, but was looking for an excuse to justify buying the wall mount one (had already had electrical install there a year or so prior)

I thought the battery thing was stupid, as well as the wifi, now it's nice to have. If I have the breaker off or for some reason the power goes out it still operates normally.

Ok, makes sense now. If power goes out, the get away vehicle could be locked in the garage.

Upon further review, the back up battery does make sense.

As always, RDP delivers.

I ended up ordering the wall mount opener as well. I’ve wanted to go that route for awhile, just never had a reason to until now. The model I got also comes with the WiFi adapter.

Its a nice to have, certainly. I just don’t need it.

In my research Ryobi makes a garage door opener that you just pop an 18v drill battery into to open the garage when the power it out. That is pretty clever!

Installed my garage door opener yesterday. I had to add a new outlet for the wall mount opener, so I didn’t have to run it off an extension cord, and finished that this morning.

I ended up getting the model with battery backup as the non battery model was on backorder and would have taken too long to get. The Home Depot in Havasu had the battery backup model in stock. My local Home Depots do not even carry this opener anyway, so I still had to smuggle it in.

This was pretty easy to install, and the opener is really compact. It also comes with a garage deadbolt, cable tension sensor, and built in WiFi and home automation capability.

Only caveat is you just have to be careful when you do use the emergency release, if you don’t have it completely released as you move the door, it will unwind the cable from the drums and can render the garage inoperable unless you rewind the cables on the drums. given that, with a wall mount opener the battery backup is a nice feature to have.
