CNN has been all over this for 12+ days for sure. I've been watching Megan Kelly & Hannity all week and they've been talking about it for most of their shows too.


The debris spotted by the Aussies is 1500+ miles out in the ocean and one report says a piece is over 80ft. I wonder if it's from flight 370? They're out searching for the images they saw.

Sounds like they're faced with bad weather searching this new location WSW of Australia.

Not that I don't believe we have satellites in our military that can give very high definition photos of the surface, I just don't know how often their orbits would take them over remote regions of the southern Indian Ocean. I had a friend who's job in the Navy or Air Force, I don't remember which, was to look at such photos. He said they can get very detailed when needed.

I agree. Let's say it is there. Can you imagine the size of a rescue operation to rescue 200 plus people? What kind of resources would they need to be successful? A SEAL team could not pull it off. You probably need an entire Division. At that point we are talking about full scale invasion of a foreign country.

A KH-12 is a $1 billion satellite that resembles the Hubble Space Telescope, except it is looking at our planet. For security reasons, there are no published orbit schedules for the imagery spacecraft. They are supplemented by the 15-ton Lacrosse-class radar-imaging satellites.



The black and white images are used by the military and civilian communities. Many of the details about this class of satellites remain classified, but it is known that there are several of these overhead at any given time. They have an imaging resolution of 5-6 inches, which means they can see something 5 inches or larger on the ground. These satellites probably can't read your house number, but they can tell whether there is a bike parked in your driveway. Or a dog barking at the mail man,LOL

Just want to add, I built mirror telescopes [ 2M and 4M variations ] for the military back in the 60's that you could see/recognize a person
lighting a cigarette in a window, 40+ kms away.Technology today is light years ahead of those days.

I don't believe we could morally hold that information from the world, and let 200+ families, and 20+ nations burn resources looking for something we knew was somewhere else for this long. It wouldn't be right and International community would not be happy with that. I also think if it was there, other nations, specifically China and Russia would also know it was there. All would not be pretending to look somewhere else. That's just my opinion though.... I'm sure stranger things have happened. Taliban has already said publicly that they had nothing to do with it. Not that they are trust worthy, but do think they'd be bragging by this point. Again, I've been wrong many times.... :rolleyes

There are no "passengers" alive on that plane, given the altitude it was at, they sadly didn't make it.

At this point the concern we have is what is its intended use and which country will be faced with the decision.

I settled on that theory about a week ago.... but like you said, we need those boxes. It would also mean the timeline is not quite accurate, but that wouldn't surprise me either.

The transponder was turned off deliberately before the pilot's message " all right, good night". It's sure wasn't fire that turned the transponder off.
The ACARS was also turned off shortly after that if any of the report is true.
