I went to nordic and talked to Thane and Ron about building a new 270. They said to pull the molds and modernize it and do the windshields etc it wouldn’t be worth it and would rather build a 275.

RD
What needs to be modernized?

Kind of silly to even compare the 270 and 275.

The windshield can’t be that hard to build can it? What would you do if you broke one on an existing boat? Someone’s gotta make new ones.

Jr said building a 27 would not be a problem.

Also though for your boating program a 275 walkthrough would work well.

Speaking of minis.. I did a walk through at Torch Craft today. These are the only pics I took..

I can do another walk through and write up if peeps are interested! The owner is super cool and gave me full access to his shop!

Yes and insanely clean. Im doing the math on how much it would cost me to buy that boat and switch motors with mine and re-sell it. 😂
What’s the deal with those. Was just watching a video of a guy testing the 2stroke 40hp. Can you run them in the US but can’t buy them new?

Yeah. 2 stroke outboards can't be imported into US. I have a Yami 40 hp now. It runs good, but is a lated 80's and is a little beat from previous owner and I'm trying to figure out what I will do if/when it lets go.

thx. I was wondering if I can import one with some freight I bring in from overseas. I was pretty impressed with the video I saw with the motor. Would be perfect for a 12’ rib boat.

I've done a bunch of research on how to get them in and even talked to some contacts at Yamaha. Customs wont let them in from what I was told (not even on a 1 off basis). They are still being produced for other countries. The best option is to hire someone who takes boats back and forth to the Bahamas/Mexico/South America bring one back for you on a private boat. I'm not that desperate. 😂

Yea, that's a lot of work for one... I import material from Germany and Asia and have brought in something's but nothing like a motor... I would be surprised if you can even get one in Germany too. O' well.

Thanks for the info.

They build some bad ass boats. I really want one of these.
I think the 4 seat one with windshield would be super cool local.

This is a turn key company i think they are just rigging the same boats that the canadian company jet stream builds?

65k complete is a tad out there but i guess someone is a buyer...lol

Agreed.

Yea they are too much money “new” to justify…. For me anyway. Especially when you can get a nice older fiberglass SeaDont boat for $15k.

They are indeed just rigging the Jetstream hulls. If the economy takes a dump, I’d consider picking up someone’s nice one.

There are some decent used non “pro” built ones out there.. but there also seems to be many projects. If I found the right one for sale used, I’d probably do it for here at home. Until then I got the banana peel.

I heard the aluminum hull hitting the water/waves is very loud when riding inside of it.

I emailed Nordic and they said they will get pictures. Any idea what a bare hull would cost without a trailer? And pics of what a hallett cat looks like?

They are the DCB of the mini jets. But.. price is a little steep the blue and teal one is $65k.. the black and orange one is almost $90k. But fit and finish and rigging is awesome.

The storage facility in the back ground is one my projects for my boss. TC's driveway is our property we gave them easement rights so I just stopped by to say hi!

And yes those are Jet Steam hulls. But TC buys them flat and welds them all together in a jig. They are actually working on their own hull now. He is pretty excited about that but I wont post pics till he has it done and tested.

I told him he needs to get ahold of Tom @jetboatperformance and talk to him about the mini Berkley style pumps he was building. I think that would be badass!🤷🏻‍♂️
