All's quiet now. Birds are roosted, waves and wind died down. All in all a good day. :)

A buddy of mine is looking for a hole in the water to drag his kids around on a tube this summer. He needs a 18 sea ray with an egg beater. :)

I do need to put a new transom in that aluminum boat. Probably knock that out later this week when it's raining. Supposed to get into the 60's today and sunshine. Rain the rest of the week.

Used to grouse hunt all the time back in Colorado, but no pheasants back there.

Turkeys started showing up here 15-20 years ago. Pheasants kind of went away....

There's pheasant "farms"....
Not much sport in that...

Van Rd. also was a great 1/4 mile track back in the eighties. But that is a story for another day.

If I've seen 3 or 4 pheasants in the last 4-5 years, I'd be surprised. I drive quite often through the white river marsh area also. When I was a kid, it was a destination for the damn things....

Turkeys kicked em out...

A few ditch chickens do still exist around here, but I think they mostly are farm raised escapees. Usually see at least one hen every year during corn harvest, and the occasional long tail!
I'd believe pine ridge contributed to that significantly.

I vividly remember my dad hollering at my mom for putting holes in the siding on the house. She grabbed the 870 with 7 and a halves instead of the .22

They were chewing up her flowers......

She shot the shit out of the side of the house....

That’s funny. :D

Sleek. I guess Carol Iowa was good for Pheasants, but I was told that a few ice storms took down the population. My supervisor has friends down there and he was told it’s starting come back. Might be worth checking into.
