Well made it to the river this morning. Was a cold dark walk out on unfamiliar ice that was only 4" at the most. 15 minutes into my drive I remembered I forgot the new fishing electronics in the shop had to turn around . Only managed 4 throw backs and 1 legal. Thought is was gonna be a stress free day but it didn't end up being. Between phone calls and work to be done at home it made me feel like I shouldnt have been up there. Everybody worried about me getting off the ice and getting home, we have a wonderful ice/snow storm sorta thing going on... No worries here, kicked her up to about 85 on the freeway and rolled home... Oh you could have guessed I was the guy everyone was calling azzhole tonight :D supposed to plow @1:30 am we will see.

Don't know shit about ice fishing ---- hence why I'm asking, what purpose does a fish finder serve, when you're fishing through a hole ? Unless you're using it in order to determine where to drill said hole ?

There’s a ton of Silver Lakes around here. Two within 10 miles of each other. Long lake is another one. There’s two of them within 35 miles of each other as well

Gives you all sorts of knowledge of what's below, lets put it that way lol gives you your depth, bottom contour, bottom composition ( hard, soft ect) they make graphs, flashers and cameras. The sonar picks up fish at any depth, so you know if they suspended or on the bottom. The sonar also picks up your bait, so you know what depth you are fishing. By seeing all this you can tell what the fish like or not based on how they react to your bait presentation. That's the best I can put it lol

The Rice Lake thing is a joke. Half the lakes in MN are named Rice Lake. :D

Found a place for sale close to White Lake.
Not to mention that I drive through Rice Lake Township on my way back and forth to work. :D

Morning all.

Thanks, yes I've used it for finding schools of tuna or bait fish, since they printed on paper , up to more modern side scanning. It was more how they were used in ice fishing since you're not moving around looking for schools or structure. Then I thought maybe you were looking for the depth of the thermocline. I gotta admit, I've never used one to actually watch my bait or how the fish react to it.
Reading Hula's Midwest Post Hor Thread for this son of the eastern pacific, is like getting a glimpse of some alternate dimension :D
Thanks :)

Didn't know if anyone had a knowledge of the condition of the lake, is it a weed infested swamp and such.

My “day” started at 5am on Tuesday, we left for Florida at 2pm Tue, stayed awake till 4am, slept about 45 min got up and drove until sunrise. I did get some 5 min naps but pretty much have been awake since Tuesday morning

Mornin boys. Didn’t get the snow pushed around last night, guess I’d better get after it today.

Youngest daughter drove 25 miles in the snow with me yesterday by her own choice and did excellent. I couldn’t be more proud.

I see we’ve got weird weather for the next week; high of -1°F on Sunday and-17° Saturday night. High of -6° Next Wednesday. Stay warm and be safe fellas.

Better news than I hoped for at the vet, appears to be a UTI.

The problem is my old girl just goes from one infection to another, just got over a respiratory infection a few weeks ago. Getting old sucks.
Just ran into a guy from montello. He said you can see 30' into white lake. Sounds nice. :)
