Crazy story man, I had watched that episode, kinda connected with it at the time because of the Baja Race and then the comments about boating and the river....sorry you and your family had to go through that scary shit for sure...

I can only find the :49 preview on YouTube. It says the full episode is available on paramount plus. I don’t have it to verify. Your story gives me chills..

My last trip to Ensenada was years ago. We had dropped off some building materials for a church down there and on the way home somebody attempted to pull us over on the wide open empty highway. Needless to say the blue lights went on and we did not stop just kept them about 300’ off all the way up to the next populated area and the car bailed out. When we hit the border crossing we told the patrol agent he smiled and said good choice to keep going, welcome home. That was the end of Mexico for me

This is really BS. We used to love to go down to Mexico and get lobster tails and spend our money. The Mexican people loved us and loved our money. The cartels are screwing there people. This administration will not stand up to the cartels. There are a lot of dumb ass people in this country that vote for this shit. Sorry for the rant.

I don't get it.

Tesla will be building a mega plant down there and this shit is a daily occurrence.

Joke gov't run by cartels with a drive-up window for taking bribes.

Your head is in the sand if you think of going across that border for any reason is safe.

Hey, but the kidnappers are another Mexican bargain! we had a Manager released for only $25,000. (and one finger).

Screw mainland Mexico. Also, screw the TJ to Ensenada corridor. The rest of Baja I have no problem with.

I heard a stat recently that if you make more than $35k a year, you’re considered to be in the 1% of wealthy on a global level.

Don’t know if that’s accurate stat, but makes you think.

I enjoy having civil rights, those don’t exist once you cross the border.

My Wife and I on our first trip to PV.. The night we got in I saw what looked like a cool place to check out when our Canadian travel friends said you aint going there soon, bunch of people got murdered there last weekend.
Continued going down for years after and never felt unsafe anywhere we went.
Apparently that has changed.

Wonder if these are the same guys that love carving gang symbols on gas station toilet seats.
Fascinating sub culture.

Been saying it for years , travel to a third world country , your lifes at risk
many but not all.....
There are a handful like Belize that are safer (at least used to be...) than most major US cities.

That said, I have been saying Mexico is out for years. I'm going to Rio later this spring.

Huh? Maybe some of the islands of Belize, but definitely not Belize city.. That place is incredibly dangerous.

Not defending Mexico, but if you look at the stats.... I think Americans are safer in Mexico than they are in Chicago, LA, New Orleans.
Good ole days are gone. Keep your head on a swivel here or in Mexico.

If your looking to buy drugs and hang out in the slums or other places you don't belong then yes. Otherwise its historically been very safe. Even as a tourist, running around the majority of the city. Besides, who goes to Belize to hang out in Belize city.

My buddies all have a house in TJ at Playas. They live in Vegas, but are there every weekend. HK and the Zona is their second home pretty much. He sent me a pic, they took over the whole block now. Adelitas is closed as of a few weeks ago, and they took over Chevilas next door. I'm trying to dig up the pic he texted, all kinds of construction for HK. Funny thing also he told me is that Mexico banned smoking in all bars. Im like, "Yea Im sure that Zona Roja doesnt apply to that rule WTF"!

The old days before wife and kids. Most of my boys never got married and just have their putas across the border. They seem to be happy. I wonder if they will ever give it up. 🤣

The population in Texas has grown from about 20 million to 30 million since 2000. Current information from the Centers for Disease Control says the firearm death rate was 14.2 per 100,000 in 2021.

Using only the 2021 rate number, that means in 2000 the firearm mortality rate would have been 200 X 14.2, or 2,840. In 2021, it would have been 300 X 14.2, or 4,260.

My calculations obviously aren't the same as your graph, because I'm using a simplistic method to prove something, which is that the Texas firearm death mortality rate over the last 21 years has remained essentially flat. The rise in numbers killed is related to population growth, not an increase in gun violence.

Borderland Beat is going WTF?! With the FBI reward offering they had for these four Americans. Not because there was a reward, but because Friday three females were taken and not a word...

That is 100% accurate. Most of the people in poverty here in the US are in the upper 1% of wealth in the world.

How many of those are suicides?

“Firearm deaths” is the dumbest catch all statistic, and it is still a drop in the bucket. Compared to a dozen other causes of death.
