Fusible links.
Its been mentioned in this thread earlier-
I'll keep this short, but I spent many, many years building off road cars with many, many championships.
I once had a driver who broke everything, every race. Suspension, drivetrain, axles, engines, you name it...He could break an anvil in a sandbox.
After months of rebuilding and upgrading everything that broke, the damage just got worse. Chassis bent. Transmissions with holes in the case. Shocks breaking rod ends.
The problem was the driver, no doubt from day one.
We stopped building the expendable parts as strong. He's going to break them, why make them better? Everything that was not chassis or drivetrain got lighter and "designed to fail". We built lots of spares.
Our race weekends got better (as a crew) and his results remained the same.
There is no difference in my story than any production manufacturer-failure points are built in. If CanAm or RZR makes arms that don't break, people will say that the frame is weak. If the axle or belt doesn't fail, people will say the trans is weak. This is engineered failure, and its the correct way to do things. Save the expensive parts, by sacrificing the cheap ones. Also, learn to fucking drive. (i've crashed a few things in my time, part of learning)
Yup. Kinda like GM trucks tie rods. Much cheaper and easier to replace one of them versus the steering rack or box.

First mods on these are gonna be hater pipes.

Between thst and the anti lag popping and banging idiots should succeed in getting us banned from street use in more areas.
I didn’t think about that, you know someone will have a cut out open spitting flames on the two step at a red light lol.

Yes. At hour 3 of ownership. Hour 4 will be a post on the Gram of it missing a wheel in the dirt.

My neighbors are already getting annoyed with the other neighbors Pro R with exhaust 😂

The story is they’re all garbage
At least the lower A-arms are 🤣

I wonder if there is some truth to the theory the lowers might be engineered with this as the "weak link" to save the expensive aluminum spindles and uppers.
Guess we won't know until somebody beefs up the lower and we see if the failure moves catastrophically to another point lol......

Either way....i'll be here with popcorn ready

- Non Buyer, not in the market

That really Does appear to be paper thin.

Got back story?

The backstory is the arms are made of paper thin tin and would need to be upgraded for extended use and abuse.

They are designed to break before the chassis.

Pretty standard deal with most UTVs.

Can Am will need to find the happy medium point for failure on the arm.

I have a couple friends who ended up with salvage titles after relatively minor damage to the frame. One was as simple as tabs being torn off, the other a mildly bent frame.
Their insurance would absolutely not allow repairs/welding on the frames of their X3's.

In hindsight, they both wish they had handled repairs outside of the insurance.

The X3 arms lower arms have a weak link built into them. They are a fairly thin material also.

A lot of thin tabs and mounts on the x3 so I guess they followed that same plan on the current Mav R

S3 is already making aftermarket suspension parts. Should be available to the public in a couple of weeks. I also saw an R with 35's on 15's so it looks like you don't need 16's to clear the brakes.

They all appear to have the same brakes.

16” wheels was a dumb move.

How airtight is that Upper A-Arm Joint? Looks like it would be getting sand blasted constantly in the dunes.

SSSS pics??
It looks the same as all the other pics 😁

The dealers were all saying they will have ADMs on them.

Can Am says no 4 seater for awhile. Met some nice folks in the Can Am booth.

Car will need many upgrades and accessories out of the box

If I was getting one, I’d buy the entry level car for $35k and forgo the electronics.

I haven’t heard of any AZ dealers adding ADM’s at this time. That will probably be a Commyfornia thing and they will probably get it. Most dealers are at MSRP.
A $500.00 refundable deposit at most dealers will get you inline. The larger dealers will be allocated more cars as normal. My guy has 84 allocated for this year. CanAm is doing a soft launch. Giving dealers a couple cars that most are keeping for demos. Cars will start rolling in sometime in October..
On the 4 seater I know more then I should but CanAm would not of told you anything even if it was coming out the week after the sand show. They like to keep things tight lipped. It’s coming !!! For a $500.00 refundable deposit I have a 2 seater and put a deposit on a 4 seater this week. Dealers have no info on the 4 seater as of now but if I don’t like what I see with the 4 seater no loss..
Every Utv out here has its pros and cons. There is not one built that is 100% bulletproof. We all make our choices and deal with them.

That’s good on the AZ dealer front. Most desirable cars at the SSSS had ADMs.

FWIW the 4 seater comment was from a connection at Can Am. We got a loose timeframe, no commitments when talking to him, but yes it’s coming.

Kawasaki is supposed to have something new pretty soon too. Patents looked like a bigger engine, maybe a supercharger, and new suspension.

I agree none of these are perfect..people can do whatever they want with their $$$.
