I feel that, in general, the more close to nature, the better. So yes, I eat eggs. Usually, the pasture-raised because they have tasty, vitamin-rich, orange yolks, unless I can get them from the neighbors. I also use real butter instead of chemically processed margarine or blends and save my bacon grease for breakfast potatoes and a few other things.
Vegetable oil is not natural. They use chemicals like benzine to process. Vegetable oil first started coming into to use around 1890. Our bodies dont recognize it as food. Yes it has calories but there are no nutrients. Our processed foods contain vegetable oil, flour and various kinds of sugars. If you notice as the consumption of processed foods increased so has diabetes, cancer, obesity, insulin resistence, etc. you have been lied to about the health effects of food both good and bad.

Fatty liver disease used to be limted to alcholics. Now we have kids with fatty livers. This is from processed food. We feed kids cereals, pop tarts, waffles etc and send them off to school and we wonder way the have problems.

Number one thing you can do to save your kids and youself is to eliminate all processed foods. Look at every label for oils ans sugars. Eat meat, bacon, eggs, butter, olive oil, cocnut oil, avacado oils. If you eat dairy make it full fat...no skim. I drink half and half with some flavored mct oil. My weight is down and i feel better.

More than half of diabetes patients are not obese. Read that again. Type 2 Diabetes is caused by high insulin. The #1 blood test to get is your insulin level. If your insulin level is elevated than you have insulin resistence or diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is when your insulin not longer controls your blood sugars. Insulin is what does the damage, well elevated insulin does. So you have elevated insulin that is damaging your body. Think of blindness, heart disease etc. now your dr is going to give you even more insulin to control your insulin resistance. Can you see why diabetics are so sick. The not so funny thing is it can all be reversed by eliminating processed foods. Eliminate all sugars , flour etc. anything that raises blood sugar/insulin. You will reverse diabetes and its precursor insulin resistance . You can also prevent and reverse cancer too.

If you are fat you have insulin resistance. You can also be a TOFI. Thin outside fat inside also unhealthy.

My wife has been diligently on this program for a while now, so by default since she cooks I have been too for the most part. Neither of us had high blood pressure, but mine is the lowest/ most perfect it's ever been . Exercise and strength training if capable go hand in hand . We were eating breakfast at the wagon wheel in Needles the other day and she had her little thing of butter and some whole cream for coffee with her and the waitress was clued in on it all as well. The info is out there, and it's basically an elimination diet for all kinds of other bad stuff in addition to diabetes . High "bad" cholesterol goes out the window when eating correctly, meaning it may even go higher but is very likely a bs statistic propped up by victims of the processed food diet where it was / is a measuring stick, and statin prescriptions which are borderline mandatory from docs these days are the goal . We still drink socially but my beer gut is gone and workouts haven't changed. It does take some discipline, and I can get away with cheating here and there, but the results are very real.

I’m trying to kick coffee-mate after 25 yrs or so. Just started reading what’s in that stuff, makes you wonder. I was around 1.5 table spoons per cup. It’s been 2 weeks with half and half and not used to it yet.

… many hotel rooms these days have showers🤷🏽‍♀️
I was thinking more about the visqueen covered in oil and debauchery. Are the joints taped? Or does it spill out onto the carpet. I mean how would you go about cleaning that mess up? Or leave it to counsuela the housekeeper?

Cooking oil

All you cooking aficionados, can we talk a minute about oils? Of course, there is no "best" oil, as they serve different purposes. I used to use olive oil almost exclusively, but then I learned a little more about smoke points. When I purchased my new non-stick pans a couple of years ago, the instructions specifically stated, "no olive oil, no spray oils." I realize I don't need to put oil in the pan, but for some things, like cooking onions, garlic, or mushrooms, I like to put a little oil in the pan first. And yes, I know that olive oil really should be used in dressings and other uncooked things, but I use it when I cook Italian too.

So I researched a little at the time, and grapeseed oil was supposedly a healthy oil, especially for someone with a family history of heart disease. So that is what I switched to. No flavor to speak of, high smoke point, etc.

Now I hear that all seed oils are bad. Bad bad bad. Now avocado oil is the go-to? Does it have a flavor? Is it going to make my potatoes taste funny like the coconut oil did? Peanut and sesame both have very distinct flavors. What is a good higher-heat oil to use? I don't use high heat in my non-stick, but I use a lot of cast iron and Blackstone.

So what oils are you all using for different applications? My grapeseed oil is about gone, so what do I replace it with? #firstworldproblems
I use tallow a lot now. I can go to the butcher shop and get tons of fat trimmings free almost any time I need. I typically slice them up and put them in a Pyrex either weer in the oven or smoker at 250 for 4-6 hours then strain thru cheesecloth.

Recently I tried using the trimmings from a 45 day dry aged ribeye roast I did, smoked the trimming as usual and it is absolutely game changing on steaks and other "beefy" meals.

It does impart a beefy flavor into whatever your cooking (rendering in the over abates some of that) so if I need neutral flavor I'll use canola oil but that's not very often.

Eating dinner now. Problem with my air fryer is it is so good I over eat. I made kabobs with tri tip steak, orange bell pepper and onion. 2 were for lunch tomorrow. Eating the 5th 1 now. Looks like I will have to hit Busy Bees for lunch tomorrow since I am working on the backside of PV. First time using this marinade I bought last night.

Worked late or I would of fried up some potatoes with coconut oil. Just kabobs and 2 ears of corn.

It's a terrible problem to have.

😔😜

That sauce looks like it would be tasty on a batch of chicken wings. 💕

I will report back on chicken. I bought a 6 pack of bellpeppers, onions, boneless chicken thighs and tri tip from Sam's. Bought this sauce from Costco and 2 others from Sam's. 1 I use regularly but figured I would try something new. Kabobs are super easy in the air fryer. Chicken is crazy tender.

What's the benefit of an air fryer over a normal deep fryer?

No oil required.

Sometimes I will use a little spray to crisp things up, but that's it.

Plus it cooks Very fast!

Tator Tots come out perfectly.
