Your inability to 'drag anchor(s) in and out of your boat' without damaging it speaks volumes . . . . .
Sure does. It speaks to the fact the boat is a closed bow, the heavy anchor(s) have to be brought out from under the cabin and over the interior, removed from their bags, expanded/locked, and tossed over. Then repeat the process to retrieve them, but add washing them off before they come aboard so the mud/weeds don't come aboard also.

You going to tell me there's never a possibility of those anchors hitting the side of the boat on a rough/windy day, scratching the swim step when they come up to be collapsed, or scuffing the interior as we work to pull them out and stow them? We've done it and it's a pain in the ass.

You might be/have been a captain of larger sea going ships, but your inability to see how difficult and risky working with anchors on a boat like this that are big enough to hold it in place speaks volumes.

I'm not talking about sea going ships. Putting your bow on the sandy beach will definitely mar/scratch the gel in that area, for sure. As per my ability to see the risk of working with anchors on smaller boats, we have, and have had, smaller boats, open and closed bows. I do understand. But, it can be done with care and not damage your boat. Beaching your boat in sand will scratch the gel, 100%. Use of anchor(s) with reasonable care, does not need to damage your boat, 100%. Personally, I also beach our boat(s). It is easier. But, I know it scratches our gel.

Worse than someone leaning on our boat, is a stranger's large, sandy dog jumping into our boat. That really SUX. But, we realized our large, very friendly dog had likely somehow invited that strange dog onto our boat. I'll take that leaner and his koozie any day.

@Wizard29 I agree with you 100% and I never would have an issue telling someone to remove themselves from leaning or placing any items on my boat. It may not seem like a big deal to some people, but it is to others.

On the inverse you have zero problem commenting on every classified on the internet as to what you think it’s worth or what they should be selling it for..

Of the two?

C’mon..

I like it.

Had one of my cars at a show one day and was sitting behind it talking with some friends. Some guy comes up and runs his finger down the side along the graphics. It's got marbled candy purple and a strip of what looks like tan sandstone on it. I said, "Hey, please don't touch. Thanks." He gives me a dickhead look and replies with, "Is this even your car?" As I got up out of my chair, I said, "Yes. It is, but does it matter?" He declined to argue any further and moved along.

Moron. I really don't know why people have to touch. Do you actually think it's going to feel like sandstone or something? They also have to touch the polished stainless in the engine compartment. What do you possibly think that's going to feel like?
People like come to the shop and hang out We think is messy they think is like a museum or a candy store , most everyone is respectful of "boundaries" some not so much the pic is of a guy outside on a Sunday a few weeks back wandering around our "boneyard" , he popped up on surveillance .... I put the pictures up on social media and a few days later He apparently saw the post and called (310 area) a few days later saying "he didnt think we would mind if he looked around ".. The point , what's mine is mine , not yours if you want to touch or even kick tires ask permission

Damn....Seems to me it is boating season and well...boats might get dirty if used.....last time i checked someone leaning on a boat would not result in catastrophic damage

I suggest velvet ropes to keep these channel dwelling boat leaners away..

Shit...here we go again. Is that true though?

View attachment 1241668

Seems like a max on the 2007 Chevy of 15,100 and a max on the 2023 Ford of 14,000? I haven't really done the research on the Ford though, so maybe there's something else I'm not aware of.

In any case, I know I wouldn't be very comfortable towing my boat with anything much shorter or much lighter than my 2500HD.

Again? It’s been true all along.

Have a look. Your truck is rated to tow 12,000 with a conventional ball.

A new F150 is rated to 13,000 on a conventional ball.

Either way you are exceeding the ratings of either truck by the looks of it. Whatever works for you, but if you got popped, the fine would be less with a new F150 🤣.

"Looking around"? Probably more like seeing what was available to steal.

Why? The boat doesn't have a windlass. Due to the well known wind on Lake Mohave, its size and weight would require a substantial anchor.

That anchor would be stored in a cockpit locker. Connecting it to the bow eye would require walking across the deck while carrying the anchor, 15' of chain, and the anchor rode slack. It's obvious that would probably cause damage to the boat's gelcoat or paint.

Not everyone has the advantage of years in the maritime business. Taking a shot at a recreational boater isn't a good look for you.

If he isn't making the payment he should get the fuck off the boat!! Lean on your own boat. If he doesn't have a boat he should be educated on respecting other peoples property. He was asked politely once.

I'd argue that limitation is likely because of the factory hitch they put on it, which is rated to 12,000. Total vehicle towing capacity per my owner's manual is 15,100, which is more than the total of 14,000 for the F150.

In this case we may both be right depending on how you look at it. The newer trucks are certainly being built with way more towing capacity than I'd ever thought they'd have.

Pretty sure the Ford isn't going to out pull my HD with that boat behind it though and like I said, anything shorter and lighter might be a little uncomfortable.

If I’m in the Channel after 10am on a weekend, the last thing I’m worried about, is someone leaning against my boat.

If there was a beer on the bow, and it wasn’t mine, I’d pick it up and ask who’s beer it was, and give it back. No answer, it gets emptied, and put in the trash bag. 😉

Read the towing guide I linked. Per your picture your boat is not a 5th wheel 😉 and therefore the tow rating is not 15,100. A new F150 is rated to tow more in that configuration.

The ratings are the ratings. I don’t care either way, I was just providing facts and context. Your truck is probably better suited for the job.

Saw this pic on FB, reminded me of this thread. Courtney Hanson. Hand on the car,(not hers?) with a ring on that hand. Wonder if her dog (see the leash) climbed up the side of the car to look in? You think she got her ass beat?

This is how I feel , whether its my truck, my car , my boat ,my dog ,my property in general if one wants to pick it up , touch it caress it or lick it I doesnt matter there's always time for a request for permission or to determine if I care, I was raised to know what's off limits and respect the property and belongings of others period ! And we won't even get into the drama the last time an "old neighborhood" dude friend of my wifes "Hugged" her longer than I was comfortable at a social gathering  FAFO

At some point you need to get off a the F150 fan club and nut riders of the fraternal frat brothers of who gives a damn anonymous.

If you keep it up I will hunt you down and lean my sweaty ass on your sub par f150.

The irony of concern over bow leaners vs definitely scratching the gel on the bottom, seems to have evaporated.
I'll beach my boat in the channel at Park Moabi. I'll beach it if there is a Sandy spot in Steamboat or in the back of the cove at Three Dunes. Anywhere else and I anchor and spike it in a foot of water. I won't lean on others boats. I won't get upset if you lean on mine.

So what happens when someone farts on the seat or they pee in the river while in the water then hop in the boat and sit in the seat with pee swim suit? Or even worse, they think your boat is in good shape instead of excellent shape.

If I had 28' of my closed bow from my "43" all up on the beach, Courtney could rub what ever the fuck she wanted all over it. I'd probably lick it clean too. 😂😂😂

Lost in some of these comments is the fact @Wizard29 plunked down more than $200K for his boat. If those that made fun of him or called him OCD had that much cheese tied up in their ride, maybe they would think differently.

His wife was pleasant and respectful when she asked the guy to remove his beer. That the man was butthurt about it pretty much shows he's an entitled whiner. When one is an adult, that sort of interaction with others is no big deal. If I was the guest of someone that invited me to tag along on their way cool and obviously expensive boat, I wouldn't have thought it out of line to be asked to respect his wishes.

I don't touch other peoples stuff unless I know them and know it's okay. The worst is chicks with purses when I take our Cobra (car) out. They lean down to look in it and bounce their purse off of the side of it. I don't worry about the boat as much.

Its at least the 3rd or 4th time someone has mentioned the price... First off, I agree you should not touch other people's stuff...but I can't always control other people. That said why does it matter how much the boat cost; does it change the situation... He is probably really proud of his 200k boat, but no prouder than the guy who has a 10k jet boat .....price is really subjective and it really does not change the situation in my view...

I just can't see not taking care of stuff and letting it go to shit.

I mentioned earlier in this thread that this leaning issue has less to do with damage than common courtesy. I accept everyone's opinion on the matter but some of them that are based on the, "It's not damaging anything" logic just blow my mind.

If he was leaning on it with his arm.. I doubt you’d even have to wipe it off? Was this guy piled up like a porn star or something? Lol.

How do ya feel about…. Say someone smoking in the boat? 🤪🤪

I can hear it now.. “It was just one cigarette”.

Smoking a cigarette without requesting is a completely different level of disrespect than the debate of disrespect vs. ignorance that is leaning on a boat.

I actually didn't look at it that close, but I'm sure it left a grease mark and an arm pit sweat mark at a minimum. He had suntan lotion on. Had to, otherwise his white ass would have been pretty red by the end of the day. Well, more red than it already was due to the alcohol content.

I think it was mentioned earlier, but do any of us go to someone's house and make a habit of leaning on any of the glass surfaces? Pick up and touch whatever you want? Why not? Doesn't damage anything. Kinda the same thing here. Just being respectful of other people's stuff.

Again, I didn't look that close, but what if he had some bracelet or a ring on or something? And by the way, with the average age of our group, it very well could be a life-alert bracelet. Have you seen the weird black marks some jewelry leaves? Yes, it comes off and no there isn't any permanent damage, but the polishing compound has to come out to deal with that.

And hell no, you cannot smoke on the boat. You can't drool on it like you did on Dan's either.

This thread is classic.
I used to date a chick who was afraid to piss off the side of my boat when we first dated.
So I said, "just piss in the splashwell, & I'll flush it" . . . she was a gamer, so she did, I hit reverse to 'fill the bowl', she did her business, then I said. "Hang-on", clicked it in gear, gave it some throttle, & 'VOILA' . . . all flushed !!!
I told her. "You can take a crap in there too, but you'll have to use a stick to push it through the scuppers" ! 😂🤣🤘🤘🤘
Life's too short to major on the minor. 😆
