Wow that’s the roughest I’ve seen that lake.

That’s like the bay above the channel.

Lots of bad decisions made when the storm blew in.
These are screenshots from Facebook.

stupid.............. yeah lets all head to where the waves are 5 feet with a 5 second between.......... instead head to the "lee" side of the lake........ water doesn't get that crazy in
20 feet from the side the wind is coming from........ let alone hide in a cove.

feel bad for those who lost their boats. hope no one was injured or worse.

We got caught in a storm like that at Powell with our 23 Commander jet bote years ago. I put the bow in the air and looked out of the side of the boat for a couple miles to get to a cove. Then just idled in the cove facing the waves until it died down.

I don’t know why people panic.

Thanks for the suggestions. Never thought of getting the bow up. I guess that you could dump the drive like when taking off. Am I reading that right?

Got caught in a storm like that years ago at the sandbar in Havasu. Hauled ass up river and found a little cove and rode it out. The lightning was a little sketchy but still better than trying to go to the ramp.

Yes, the bow was pointed straight up pretty much.

So in this situation if there’s no cove to go into. What do you do? Point bow at wind and trim up?
Certainly better to ride it out in a situation you can control than risk the loss of control trying to land a bucking bronco onto a trailer.

Saw the shit coming in at least 45 minutes before it hit. People had plenty of time to take action. Hope no one got hurt or worse.

Few other options than rollin into the ramp like everyone else

1) choose to go back to the party bay on the other side lake where there more coverage and ride it out.

2) go to the marina and tie up (there’s a break wal)

3) go to the old ramp that I would presume
Wouldn’t be as crowded and is more protected.

🤷🏻‍♂️

have an eliminator 207 and done this too.Bow up keep it high and go.and like at pleasant say wind comes from the north you can head to a cove on the north part of lake or even the shore as the there is no big amount of water and waves will be small along the shore,

But be at the 10 lane ramp the waves build across the whole lake and this is the result.

I got the “free” app, weather radar. I get alerts. I can also check out the movement, then make decisions.

If you ever get caught out on the lake, put on the life jackets, and buckle them up. Turn on the bilge pump. Slow down and pick a line that points the boat into the wind, and reduces the amount of water coming into the boat. Add a little trim up.

Been there in a low profile jet bote.
Less than 8" of transom above the water line. 4-5' swells

Seek shelter. On lake mochoppy.
Water breaking high enough to drown out the carb and make it miss and sputter.

Found a cove on the Nevada side and watched the storm roll by.
Emptied what was left in the ice chest. Some 30+ miles from Katherines landing.

Nearly glass after the storm.

Pleasant can get whipped up pretty good with a storm. Hope nobody was injured or worse. Always be aware of the weather.

Just saw this one

Last weekend we were at Mead and the lake was empty on a Saturday. Seems like everyone was afraid of a monsoon. I told the wife we'll hang out at the back of the cove, but if it gets bad we'll nose the bow out and ride it out, and after the storm passes the lake will calm down. None of that came to fruition, it got a little breezy then right back to glass.

I've left my little 18foot jet bote plenty of times at mead and came back and picked it up the next day.

Many years ago when I really didn't know much about boating. We were camping at Emerald Cove and decided to rent a pontoon. We were just cruising around having a good time when a monsoon came in. I really didn't know what to do and was trying to run from it. Another boater came over to us in a much faster boat and told me I wouldn't be able to outrun it. He said turn around and put the bow into the wind and ride it out like others on here have said. We did and it was rough but we didn't have any problems. I wish I knew who that boater was and buy him a beer. This was about 1999/2000.

It’s pretty rare that you cannot find a place to wait it out. But if you can’t then nose into the waves and trim it up.

Happens like this every monsoon season.

Wind from south moving storms execrates wind down the Bradshaws Mts onto the lake. The 10 lane faces into that.

From mid June to mid Sept always watch the weather and radar especially after noon. Usually comes down from Prescott or the I17. Leave early when you see it building and heading south.

Midweek if you could. We do pleasant midweek and take the stand up skis. If I do a weekend I’ll take boat.
Yup. I hit Seguaro and Canyon Lake in the spring midweek. Was amazing

Well, that is unfortunate. But all I see is Inexperienced boaters.

Get your life jackets on, head straight into the wind and waves, and head to the leeward side to find protection.

I clearly recall years ago at Havasu at the Nautical I saw the storm coming. Got my boat out in 30 minutes, I yelled at many others to do the same, they just partied on, dumb asses. Got back to my 2nd floor room just in time to see the storm blow in. Mayhem, ezups, boats tossed on shore. What the F, just party on.

This was unusual as it came out of the north

I'm sure yours jumped a bit with the boat upgrade. Can't put a price on happiness though :)
Honestly wasn’t bad another $900.00 a year. I expected more due to hp and replacement value. You guys hitting the Dam run?

Wife asks me why I dont want to take the boat out since we live so close to lakes now.

Too damn hot, and too many clowns. Ill wait a few months for my season to start!
The wife and I like going out after work for sunset/dinner cruises - Bartlett or Canyon - lakes are quiet, usually just fisherman or a couple wake boarders. Less amateur hour to deal with.

Nice! That’s not too terrible.

Not this year. We’ll be in Havasu. I don’t want to take the wife and kids to that run. I already told her I’m doing it next year without her 🤣

You guys have fun though!
