Keep in mind this is a federal body of water in a national park not state, With launch ramps in Arizona and Utah. I have yet to hear from anyone launching on the arizona ramps about needing to have this and I havent heard of anyone being ticketed in the parking lot. I have taken the course in the past and spent the summer asking the employees to look at what i got. They just looked at me and said cool...

Not telling you what to do but i think thats a money grab and utah actually cant do shit because its not their water.

We launch at Stateline every time and nothing has ever been said to me about the AIS thing. I do have a Local Boater program sticker on my boat. Maybe that's the difference? I've not heard of anyone actually being checked either.

All Federal and State laws and regulations can be enforced on Lake Powell.
Utah can enforce the AIS deal on the portion of the lake within their state.

That being said, in all my years there, I've never had an encounter on the water with anyone from either agency.

I also feel $25 is money well spent to help keep it that way. 👍

This from a few days ago, the cut will be useable with about 5 more feet (from today level). Lake is coming up just under a foot a day now.

With the latest day and how much risen looks like less than a week for the cut to be in use. One of these years we need to time to get up there in time to enjoy.

Indeed these numbers look better! And if managed properly, would give us a good base to get thru the rest of the water year and a better starting point for the next.

2025 goal should be 3625'!

Just out of curiosity... Do you know why they dont charge money before you even get on the water for this sticker or piece of paper? I mean supposedly you "SHALL" have it if you're on the lake.

Not calling you out im just curious because they literally dont give a crap at the entrance stations or the launch ramps which they actually stop you and make sure you have your sticker for the boat to be on Powell.

I'd assume the entry station doesn't ask because that's a Federal operation and not Utah State.
Also you're unable to purchase the AIS decal until AFTER you have completed and passed the invasive mussle test.
The way Utah has it set up, they couldn't sell the decal on site without being able to administer the test there and then.

Utah is probably counting on voluntary compliance rather than a strict enforcement.

Getting close. FYI we did a family trip to Lake Powell last weekend. We stayed at Wahweap and I kept the boat in a slip. No issues launching whatsoever and the lake was great. I had a water leak in one of my engines due to a small crack in a heat exchanger end cap so I wasn't able to run my boat and was a passenger instead, but we had a great time running as far as Rock Creek Bay. I'm hoping to get back there at least 1-2x more this season.

There is a videos out there yesterday of a metal jet boat running the cut from end to end…. People will start running it at about 3 feet
Gotta go look at today’s numbers. But the last couple of days the increase was only about 1/2” where it was up 3/4” for most of the week. Is the in flow reducing or is it just taking longer because the volume has to increase? Also any thoughts on how much is still in the mountains?

Average amount of snow still there (not much) but the rivers above Powell are all running well.

Inflow has peaked. Lake will still rise for a while at a diminishing rate. Hopefully BOR keeps outflow steady for rest of summer for a very slow drawdown.

the higher the water level the more surface area.......when the lake is low 10000cfs raises the level more thaw when the lake is more full

You’d think they could have invested some money making the cut deeper while the lake was way down, so as to be open sooner or stay open longer in the future.

Thursday I will run the cut in the old Sundance 290… I have a depth gauge and I am not afraid to use it. The extra 22 gallons will be needed for generator/AC run time in this heat!
Looking forward to your report!!!

WOW those videos are wild. I sure wouldn't be standing there with that flash flood coming in! You get caught in that you are GONE!

Normally I would bitch about the wind, but it’s light wind, rain on the RV cover and not hot! The Phoenix swamp was miserable.

Stormyest end of June I can remember up here. Keep you head on a swivel out on the lake!

I am pushing our lake time back until Friday… I would rather be on land wishing I was on the lake than on the water wishing I was back on land!
Smart move my friend. Let’s hope that others see the wether report early enough to do the same. Hopefully there will be more water added to the lake.

The inflow chart looks to be slowing down a bit.

We are at 3585 today! 👍 My fingers still crossed to get to thirty five ninety, but I think that's gonna be a push!

Two more weeks for us...

I figure about 10 more days now that the inflow is a bit lower. It is so close this year….

The lake level seems to possibly be ready to peak, not much of an increase over the last day or two (outflow was a bit higher yesterday tho). The cut is about 4' deep, I need it to hold for the next 10 days! 🤞

Today the level falls just under 3588'. A couple feet less than what I had predicted, and almost 3' higher than the peak last summer. It may not be enough to see Antelope Point public ramp open to launching boats but it does make me feel better about scheduling next years return trips.

Right there with you. Was something like 0.06, 0.04 and 0.02 today. In flow about the same as out. But outflow was raised today. You are going to be close for sure. Hoping for it to work out for you!!!
