No reason to apologize! That thing throws a wake as big as a tour boat. There are 3 of them at Antelope, we watch for them just like tour boats. You should see when we run it up Navajo!![emoji15]Well I apologize for the "asshole" comment, and yes truly a bad ass boat. but that wave he rolled into the wake less area tossed my 28 Bullet around like a bath toy. I'll be back down this weekend hangin around Escalante
yup that's him I'll be hookin up with him Friday am in the EscalanteWe will be leaving on Thursday A.M. and will come home on Sunday... As in Mike Swaze?
I guess the Quagga muscles have already been found in Powell, all though I've heard that the NPS said they could trace the ones they found back to the great lakes. I think I heard something about the numbers weren't to high and they were working on a solution. They haven't checked my boat going in at Bullfrog. Just a guy at the top of the ramp that tells you to check out at the station when leaving There is a fine/ ticket if you don't stop. The check out has gone like this both times I was there. I always stop in the wipe down area to wipe down, clean up and move stuff from boat to truck we start putting the travel cover on, leave my wife in the boat pullover to the inspection station a young gal in a NPS uniform has us lower the drive to dump water out, then she shine a flash light up under and allover the drive and transom then she runs her hand under the side of the boat as she walks to the bow. She then hooks this little wire with an orange plastic tag that has a # on it through the bow eye and around the winch stanchion. she then hands me a little paper and say " don't launch at any other lake for 7-10 days and make sure to wash and dry the boat when home". we snap the rest of the cover up and leave. What did they put you through for the Quagga inspection before you got on the water?
What do they do?
What do we need to do and know before making the pull?
doesn't it suck that its all because people don't wash their boats. I understand that Lake Powell is already infected when I get home after this weekend I will scrub down Ms. Subtle. I will through the bunny ears on the hose and run the boat so that if the little bastards are cleaned out of my cooling system and I'll make sure that I don't go to my little local lake for at least 2 weeks (need the next weekend to do the cleaning). Supposedly the local lake is one that hasn't been infected yet. I will get in an argument with the ranger about how they will want to flush my motor because they don't do it right. I hope someone will figure out how to get rid of these little bastards so we don't have to deal with them anymore but, I'm doubtful.......Powell is infested with quaga muscles. Last winter they found 6 in all of the Antelope Point docks. 2 weeks ago I had divers go under my houseboat, they reported back that they are close to 6" thick. They scraped my drives so I can run to the fuel/shit dock. If you're at the south end, look at the cables on the dock, covered in the little bastards! Everyone I have talked to at Antelope agrees we need to pull the boats out every winter and have the hull cleaned! Shitty deal!
I'm sure there's a way to work through this. I have heard several "Dock Professionals" discuss bass that will consume them etc! Our biggest challenge in my eyes is the NPS! The GD treehuggers have the strongest voice! If the solution in any way puts some stinging gnat at risk....no way we kill the quaga that are going to cost multiple tens of millions in losses at Antelope Point alone!! I must add, our boat hasn't been out of the slip in about 4 years. I believe that has contributed to the infestation on the bottom of the boat. Those that are used regularly seem to have far less of an issue. As far as your local Lake is concerned, I know I don't have live wells, my anchor lines are clean and the bilge is dry with plugs pulled! Every time I go to a local Lake and the current individual in a light brown costume asks me where my boat last entered water....I simply answer...here...2 weeks ago. Never been bothered on a local Lake!doesn't it suck that its all because people don't wash their boats. That's cool I've done that a few years ago in my Mega Cummer also. I've hiked up Hole in the rock from the water and down to the water from my truck. The other side of the lake portion of the trail is also bitchen, I've done it a few times in my JeepView attachment 421828
It Would of sucked if I broke down. But this doesn't suck.
That little white speck in the middle is my truck.
Thanks we had another great time. again this past weekend and know what you mean. We went to Powell 3 of the last 4 weekends back to back on the last one man it's a lot of work the way we do it, camping out of the boat. My wife works her ass off getting all the food ready. I clean and prep the boat. she packs the food and cloths and I pack the beerHave fun down there. I'm taking this weekend off, could have been talked into bullfrog but my crew is headed to Page this time. I hate that drive and how busy it is down there. Been down 6 times this year already so could use some time at home to get shit done.
Thanks, you really don't need a house boat while its cool having the kitchen and AC but when I was a kid my parents had some shares of a few different Houseboats but the best memories were when we didn't use it. In my opinion the best parts of Lake Powell are away from the marinas and those house boats take to long to get there. I know guys who go there and spend 2-3 days just getting the houseboat where they want it and back to the slip. it takes a long time to get any where when top speed is 15 mphI love these threads B-Rad77.. I'd love to do a houseboat up there someday.

Hey, right on Swasey I'll spell it correctly now that you're on board. We needed another Utahrd to keep Mardonzi happy. welcomeOk so I'm new to the forum, but I must say I had a great time with B-rad77 and his family at Powell. The lake was super cool as always, canyons are amazing, weater was great, and without a doubt Ms. Subtle is the sickest boat I have ever been on! B-rad77 has outdone himself on that build for sure, thanks for the ride and the great trip!
Also Randy's F-29 was impressive, looked and sounded bad a$$!
I have a some pics from the trip, I'll try to figure out how to post a few.
