I'm thinking of getting a spot to park my trailer for the summer. Is this a good place to be or should I be looking at other places??????????
Thanks for your input.....
Clean park.. But it's like nazi Germany in there.. I would stay there all day long though with my kids etc.. Just not sure I wouldn't get kicked out if I was with party types.
So wait...my 1999 fleetwood Class C motorhome (which looks identical to a 2009 fleetwood) would not be allowed??
There goes that idea :swear
anything over 10yrs old needs to get visual approval. as long as your motorhome is in decent shape they approve it.
Sounds like my kind of place. When I go to bed I want to sleep and not hear anybody.

The opposite would be Crazy Horse RV Park, no rules. [emoji33]
The 10 year rule is kinda weird as the Vinyl Wrap guy has EVERYTHING wrapped in either bright green or chrome. I dunno, but a 15 year old coach that's in great shape is better to look at than a 5 year old lime greed anything:rolleyes
Seriously. That site is such an eyesore and it's right near the park entry.
Since he's obviously trying to advertise, his company slogan should be "I can make your shit this ugly too!"
I'm right above him. Tell me about it.
Ive been there 2 summers and now 1 winter...love it. You guys don't know what a park "nazi" is until you've spent some time at Black Meadow Landing...
They do enforce the 10 year rule, and also "your coach needs to be updated". Mine (a 2009) has some crinkled up graphics from being exposed to the sun in Havasu and Glamis. Got a notice to get it fixed...
I sit outside every night until midnight or later listening to music and have NEVER been approached by the staff about it.
The ramp is primo!
Isn't that where all the "swingers" hang out?![]()

I see some of these park models for sale have a good sized carport / covered driveway. Are you allowed to store your boat under your awning / carport?
Yes, most are fabric covers though, so no rain protection.
If you owned the park model, you could upgrade to a metal / more peramanent structure right? I'd consider buying a park model, given all amenities there, beach, slips, ramp etc. I would need to keep my boat there for it to make sense, and would want a permanent structure overhead to keep water / sun off it. Maybe i should check it out when I'm down there for DS
No, due to fire code, it can't be a solid structure.
I owned a park model there for 8 years and loved it. The only piece of advise for someone interested in buy a park model there is to make sure it's currently active in the rental program. They won't add any more units into a rental, and you never know what you will want to do with it years down the road. If i could have rented mine out to snowbirds for 4-5 months, i would still own it today.
Is there a beach to park boats? Docks?
I spoke with Ann a few days ago ... the models I am interested in are not on the rental program. Damn.
She then says "maybe I can do something about it" :headscratch: ... not sure if she's trying to hook me in, or if there really is something she could do. I do know that there is a list with people waiting to get on the rental program.
If you buy, make it contingent in writing that you are in the rental program. When i bought, they made it sound like I could join in no big deal, not the case.
The tough part, it even if they were to add your unit, there is no guarantee they would rent your unit out. It's best to get one that is rented every year and the snow bird requests that unit. I miss being Pauls neighbor, i never thought I would say that.![]()
Yore right. I think the wisest thing to do is to request a list from Ann of the units for sale that are both on the rental program and that have had consistent renters.
The Islander is a great place.I have been there for 20 years. The rules can be tough, but you will learn to like the safety for your family. The docks for a 6 month lease is 190.00 a month. My space rent is 800.00 plus taxes a month for water front, but, where can you be on the water and have a dock for about 1050.00 a month. The Islander force me to buy a new 5th wheel about 4 years ago, because of age of the trailer I had. They seem to be easier on 5th wheels.... if they are older.I have learned that Ann can do what she wants, but get it in writing.
I like what they did with the guy who decided to hot dog around the park in his truck while drunk last summer (or was it the summer before?). They called the cops, had him arrested for DUI and booted him out of the park immediately!
I would see similar behavior happen at The Beachcomber and security did nothing.
That was a tough deal.
A buddy if mine invites his boss out to the river for the weekend. They party all day, and my buddy who stays at the Islander has had enough and goes to bed. Well his boss decides it would be a good idea to do burn outs in the park. Got the DUI, and my buddy gets the boot the next day cause it was his guest.
Bottom line, be careful who you invite out there.
Yes, that is a total bummer. Any talk about letting him back? I know that the Islander has let people back in after the dust settles. Then again, totally different staff now.
