Perhaps Personally, at least most days, I don't think so.

I've had many close friends over the years who were ardent prognosticators of a dismal future. Being around them for too long, was like spending a day in the RDP P&G section.
They're all dead now, so they were right, they just got the causes wrong.

So for all our sakes, especially your own, since the odds of you living to see if are far greater than my own, I do hope you're wrong

As you point out, underestimation of those who disagree may be harmful.

Every time I have lost money is directly due to underestimating the person on the other side of the table.

I understand the natural urge to assume those who disagree are “dumbasses” as some believe.

But I’ve learned that is a great way to lose a lot of money.

A gentleman I worked for was known in the old car world as "the Poorman"...it was also the plate on his 32 roadster. He'd done well over the years, yet still wore Walmart jeans and drove a pickup. His son drove a Mercedes and wore name brand everything...and judged every customer on their appearance.

I learned from that family to never base your opinions on people's appearance, nor how they carry themselves. Listen to all sides of the debate before choosing a side.

The father was the one who told me to try and pay off my home if I could. The son said borrow against it.
Son lives in an apartment now...his old man has since past on. No one to bail him out of poor decisions.

Each galaxy has (based on our own Milky Way) potentially 100 billion stars (suns) in each. Each galaxy has a high potential of having some sort of perfect system to sustain life. That’s 100 billion chances times 2 trillion.

It’s estimated the universe is 13.6 billion years old. Life on earth Has only existed for 3.5 billion years. With all those potential inhabitable planets out there, there’s been Lots of time for various life to rise and fall and start over and advance beyond our comprehension through 13.6 billion years of evolution.

Isn't it interesting and crazy! I dont believe in evolution though. But man space can sure make you stop and think when your out in the desert or middle of the lake late at night with no light to blur your vision. INCREDIBLE!
