it’s terrible to say but after leaving HB to live in Temecula I honestly hate what’s happening to HB. Way to much Newport/Laguna coming to town.

Same thing is happening to Oceanside! It’s just not the same with the fancy hotels. Shit Oceanside actually has a Michelin star restaurant!? WTH?

I screwed up by passing on the condo on the beach I was looking at in O'side 25 years ago, but O'side is definitely losing its small beach city feel. Traffic is nightmare there now.

My Wife’s Niece and Nephew bought a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom condo in Oceanside last year. Less than 600 sq. Ft. and he told me he got a hell of a deal at $700,000.

We were looking at the complex that is right across the bridge from the harbor on the beach / strand. Ocean and harbor views for 100k. It only came with one parking spot, and we decided to pass. I did not look at it as an investment. Big mistake.

Not sure where my Wife’s Niece/Nephew place is but he did tell me it was directly on the other side of the highway from the ocean.

I remember back in the 70s/80s when it was considered a pretty crappy area. Even Carlsbad was essentially low brow. Further south, Del Mar and Encinitas was pretty upscale back then.

One of my first full time summer jobs (as a construction laborer) was a custom home in Rancho Santa Fe. Use to ride a motorcycle between LA and there on a regular basis, mostly staying down there during the week and coming back up north on the weekends.

Im in Portland right now. It’s getting ready to snow. I honestly don’t think I can do this cold weather. Everything hurts. My neck is killing me. Im miserable. It’s beautiful no doubt about it but I’m just miserable. I know it’s raining in Norco right now but this is so brutal

I live downtown HB and I wish we could keep more of the surf city vibe... we will always have the protests, flareups...town has always been that way... However, my wife and I do enjoy having the nicer restaurants to choose from instead of the bar food that is served on Main St... don't get wrong... I love the big breakfast at Killarney's or a breakfast burrito at Sharkeys, or a great breakfast at Nokaoi when hanging and day drinking...but to be able to walk to some of the better restaurants like BLK, Jolie, Cucina Alessa, and a number of them in Pac City has really caused us to NOT have to go to Newport for great food...

Is that the same Cucina Alessa that was / is in Surfside ? … I’m such a flipping hermit, I’ve lived in HB my entire life & still haven’t been to Pacific City. 😆

Killarney's fish and chips and a nice beer sounds nice right now.

There is one there too; this one is affliated with the other..... this one is on the corner of Main/6th...across the street from the Library/green belt area...I think Shorehouse use to have this location...

O'side was a shithole when I was growing up. My dad owned an apartment complex just east of PCH (Hill St. back then) and it was in the middle of gang territory. The cleanup of the city the past 10-15 years has been substantial.
