Rode at Whistler, BC yesterday, got up On the glacier and rode back about 40 miles, came across the snow cat that has been stuck there since mid February, ended up getting frozen in the lake, 25 feet deep, they had divers in there putting flotation and everything to keep it from sinking, still a massive job to get it out , amazing day for riding View attachment 1226347 View attachment 1226348 View attachment 1226349 View attachment 1226350 View attachment 1226351 View attachment 1226352 View attachment 1226353

The most miserable recovery of anything ever I would imagine. Gorgeous area though

My son claimed this hill a few weeks ago and caused an avalanche. Lucky he’s on the turbo skidoo because it flew over the top. I clicked off when he

got to the top and then realize the whole mountain was coming down and had to click the camera back on.

Just sitting here in the Adirondacks waiting for the trails to open Monday, had a bunch of snow earlier in the week but of course it is raining now with temps in the upper 30’s so it’s not looking too good……who did what for this season, any new rides?

I am on the list for Arctic cats new Catalyst platform when they do the 858 in it, looking like 2025.……the dealers have 600’s only now, gotta be patient!!!

That new catalyst is a very good looking machine. I hope they can catch up some with the 858. I doubt I would own one just because I know exactly how to set up a skidoo but who knows.

I went pretty big on this build. The entire skid is aftermarket. Fox air front and rear with QS3R's in the front. Elevate spindles, slydog attack skis, munster brake reservoir, risers and finger throttle, exhaust, I back shift clutching, front and rear bumpers, Rasmussen heat exchanger guard, seco seat cover, kyber switch relocate. Only thing I want to do still is upper and lowers a arms, and might put some tuning in it to bump it to 200HP.

Going to fire up ol girl tomorrow, and change some fluids… Have two snow checks coming. Likely not getting the sled time I’d like this winter but making moves to ensure going forward cold is my primary climate.

Where you moving?😉
Nothing is in stone but I like my current employer. I requested to go to whitefish/Kalispell/Missoula. It will depend upon what opens up if anything.

If my current employer doesn’t have something early next year I’ll start shopping more than I am. That’s the region im seeking (I work predominantly remote w airport access). Boat will go to flathead and we’ll sell out of havasu when that happens eventually..

What a machine! I would be right there with you on your choices but my reality where we live now is trail riding with the occasional off trail. Very few mountain sleds running around. I roll with cats because of the dealer at home (good friend). If he sold ski doo i’d own one, or whatever other brand he had but he is cat only.

The polaris and ski doo dealers are a joke where i live.

Todd the GM at fun center Durango..has been above and beyond for us…being Phoenix based we aren’t exactly snow central. He’s got a network of shippers. Highly recommend Todd, I can pass his cell number to you. We might not be some huge customer but he takes solid care of us…

How are you recovering? Good to see you back in the game! The Gen-5 is like fkn cheating!

Not sure if you talking about the bicep or back lol. Bicep is good, I had my back fused 2 months ago and it's definitely been a rough one. I should be ready to go in a month or so.

I was referring to the bicep, but SOB man you gotta simmer down a bit! 🤣

with me starting this office in Phoenix my sledding time is going to be limited this year. I ordered a G5 but was able to push it off on my buddy. I’m going to start a thread maybe tomorrow, or next week, but I drug my propane Nytro out of the shed and am going to be giving it some love over the next month. Hopefully get some time on my G4 and then get to go play with some real HP in the chutes at some point.

@Ace in the Hole I've been watching the Leavenworth webcam all morning. Looks like some good snow. Are you heading up anytime soon?
Unfortunately no, we had to cancel the typical time period we spend there this year for a few reasons. Flagstaff/NE AZ, and maybe Durango areas are probably my only sled areas this year. Just not in the cards. While Pedo Joe claims to be a "green energy" president...he's wrecking our industry as fast as he can.

My dealer called today…my snowcheck is ready and all accessories installed. Notice the heated rear seat with grab bars for MaK 🥳. (Yes I put a kids seat on a summit expert, it’s removable and I have the normal one too lol)

Probably won’t have time to go get it until January but I’m stoked on having a turbski 🤣🤣

Looks like my first sled trip is going to be the second week in February. Heading up to Durango to grab snow checks. If anyone may be in the area lets do some riding.

Also...I will be looking for one of these now..

If anyone has a little kid's model sled I don't mind to ship etc...otherwise I'll snow check one for December.

Getting some rides in!

Man do i miss mountain riding. This trail stuff can get boring. Hearing people brag about how many miles they ride…not much skill pushing a throttle and steering on a groomed trail. I don’t think i’ve hit my odometer once on a ride here and some of these people look at me like i’m an idiot when i can’t say how many miles i’ve ridden that day. Plus, Every trail leads to a bar and restaurant(which can be nice) lol

edit:and a gas station!

We really don't out many miles on our sleds. I have done 5 rides one was really short this year and probably have about 75 miles on the sled. This area was about 8 miles from the truck and didn't see anyone all day. I wouldn't even ride if all I had was trails, no offense!

The miles thing, most people aren’t happy unless they say they rode 100 miles in day. Sometimes more.

The trails directly around my place are not groomed and pretty fun when i get to break trail. but most of the state parks here maintain the trails. I have property and also have a few other areas where i can go ride some off trail and play in some drifts. But with no real public lands like out there and lack of snow, that type of riding just doesn’t exist in the mid west and north east. Corn fields are about the closest i can get to blazing some meadows. Winter is the only season that i question why i moved here and am still here 😀 I think next year i may start making a trip out to a lodge and get an itch scratched

At our place in old forge, ny it is 100 percent trail and the towns are all in with maintenance, grooming and of course the permit sales. People in my riding group ages ranging from 6 years old to 80 years old so if anything the trail systems allow everyone the opportunity to get out there on a machine!

my cat dealer is taking official orders on Tuesday for the 858 catalyst but i’m not really feeling it.

For the West Coast sledders.... I know I've mentioned using Nikki Bostick for our boat/trailers etc. However I want to mention they are able to write snowmobile policies. They are insuring both my 2024 Turbo, and my 17 N/a Summits for what I consider a solid price. Saved a few hundred over the alternative. Their contact can be found here... https://www.facebook.com/californiaboatinsuranceexpert/

I've used Nikki (Kathryn, Martha) for the past 4 years on insurance, and they are nothing short of great in terms of customer service. I highly recommend checking them out for a quote...tell them Joel sent you.

Wrapping things up this weekend in the Adirondaks. Snow is gone, lakes are thaw. Kind of a early crappy end for the riding season. Mud season is in full effect…… Pre ordered an 858 riot atac for next season. Was hoping to get a demo ride today but mother nature wasn’t having that. It was at least nice to talk about next years offerings with the big 3.

Snofest is today and tomorrow, could of probably sold more boats there

I have a snowcheck in for MaK a new 120 for next year. I want a turbo MKZ but I’m gonna lay off snow checks for a couple of years and use what I’ve got now.

The new 2025s Had me considering a free ride or the MKZ… Yes different purposes but I could find the use for both. With how this year went through I don’t wanna tie up that much money again until I get back on the snow. The new stuff coming out is just unreal

Bummer to hear it was such a lousy winter in the Mid-West and East. We had to call off our annual snowmobile trip to the Michigan UP due to lack of snow.

It’s been a pretty good season here in the CO Rockies. We rented the 850 Ski Doo Summit this winter for our ride in Grand Lake. Wow, I can’t believe how fast these sleds are now. So much fun.

Grew up in Michigan riding sleds. They’ve come a long way since my first sled, a 440 Scorpion.

That’s awesome! She will love it.

Oh i get it…..especially seasons like this makes you think more. I was expecting the new catalyst chassis 858 i wanted to be wayyyy more but it wasn’t so i’m taking the chance. Never had or wanted an adjustable on the fly suspension on a sled before but to get the big garmin screen i had to get it. And you are right, the new stuff coming down the line is unreal. I should of took more pics today in gerenal but also some of the doos and lynx, surprisingly they had a bunch of mountain units here on display.

We are used to mother nature dealing us a bad hand 😩 just have to be patient! I backed out of a trip to Munising this season, it was that bad.

I love hearing from people getting the opportunity to hop on a modern machine, they really are amazing.

after leaving it sit for a few months at the dealer (yay free storage), 1400 miles round-trip of driving, $1700 in Ute Indian casino winnings, & Two very long days…. The turbski snowmaboggan is home in havasu.

This thing is wild, and while it sucks that I probably won’t get to ride it till next season I am overly impressed.

I’ll post more about the adventure tomorrow.

I know everyone is pretty spread out...but any interest in attempting an RDP ride or maybe more than one for the different regions? Maybe the West region, and East region guys could meet up somewhere fun for a weekend of riding next year? I think @HNL2LHC goes to something cool by Yellowstone, id be down with going to a place like that or a CO, or WA meetup. AZ its too unpredictable so I wouldn't want to plan anything here.

We had some really great riding in Colorado. Made it out 4 times and we are going to head out on Monday again. Never got to ride at our place in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan due to the fact that there was no real snow "first time in 79 years" so I am told.

We can certainly plan to meet up. We typically pick the dates at the end of the year unfortunately. I typically have a say but do not run the get together. We have people from all over as well. I can reach out to see if we can set a date early to have @Ace in the Hole and othe rRDP members meet up in West YEllowstone. It is a blast and we typically do about 4 days of riding.

I would be interested in this or if people want to come to BC
How far of a trek is Leavenworth WA from where you are? This year plans went to shit but we will be up there 2-3 weeks starting DEC 20th this year. I'd be interested in going up there, or putting something together in Leavenworth, some great riding within minutes of my in-laws cabin.. I have friends in BC with sleds, and the wife has some family there as well we could make a trip out of going to see. Is it difficult to bring our stuff over the border or just mainly having ducks in a row?

We can certainly plan to meet up. We typically pick the dates at the end of the year unfortunately. I typically have a say but do not run the get together. We have people from all over as well. If you want to post up the dates when you find out lets see what happens, I know that's more trail oriented and speed limited correct? I'd love to see that region in the snow...and if the dates worked right I've made that drive a number of times.

I just thought it may be cool to have some RDP ppl get together in the snow if we can make it happen.

There are many different types of trails. I think that there are speed limits near town but I know some that have hit triple digits. I’d give that a try if it were not for me being old and in fear of breaking a hip. 😉😉😇😇
