I like mine, aside from the buttons being there all the time. Towing in bad weather , etc keeps the interior clean. In storage I use the snap covers instead of the full cover to keep the dust out, then I hit it with a duster before I pull them off.

A lot of folks do. I see them on expensive floats all the time. To each their own.

Last boat had them, loved them especially if I had to tow out of town.
You don’t get a bunch of cover slap and rub against the fiberglass?

Nothing on ours and we have towed through major blizzards, rain storms, and wind storms. Pretty happy with it.

I can’t be the only one right?? It’s a deal breaker for me on a boat. I know I’m particular but seeing all those holes drilled drives me nuts.

Absolutely a deal breaker for me too! I'd rather watch the "Kars for Kids" commercial on loop than look at a dash full of hideous snaps. 😃

*** I'm so relieved, after all these years I thought I was the only one.

Won’t even consider a boat with them the buttons are UGLY! Don’t care if they can be fixed in the right light you’ll see the repair and that would piss me off even more!

I hate them as well, however we never stay out or dock for night, however for the regatta seeing all the covers and the. How much dew and dust i had in my boat made me start thinking differently. However i don’t recall seeing snaps on the new M’s. Wonder if @Tony DCB Boats does something different than snaps.

I hate them. I never used mine. 8 years and I kept it in the garage Cabinent. the snaps on the boat look horrible, and when trying to put the cover on all the metal buttons touching the gel coat… no thanks!

Anyone seen a boat where the snaps were removed and replaced with a fastener to fill the hole?

I bought a boat, a Malibu, that had snap on cover over the bow seating, and another that went over the windshield and back to the transom. That cover was neat, fit good, looked good. I really liked it, but I sure couldn't ever drill all those holes, or take my boat to a shop and order those holes drilled. No way.

I love them for towing thru the monsoon shit weather and want one fitted for my schiada. I have had one for every other boat. Frequently i end up getting hit my a dust storm, then hard rain and more dust down the road. It suks.

I guess in the desert you don’t have to worry about rain or dew making your pricey interior wet and smelly, but it’s inevitable where I live.

After all the time my friends and I stuck into this old heap, I prefer to keep my interior clean and dry.

Notice how much dew is on the windshield in the sunrise picture. That’s just driving 3-5 miles across the lake after uncovering the boat. All of that would be on the interior without the cover.

I’m not in love with the way the snaps look, but there’s enough other stuff to look at on my boat that you really don’t even notice them anymore.

At least the screws in them are clocked😉

Only thing about them that annoyed me was wax getting stuck in the holes

That's funny right there. I fuckin' HATE those commercials and absolutely can't stand how they spell the company name with K's. Drives me nuts!

However, back on topic here, I didn't even know this was a thing. Didn't realize boats came with out a cockpit cover.🤷‍♂️ I've had them on all our boats. Use it to tow and put it on at the docks over night if we're keeping the boat in the water. The Cigarette has the twist ones not the snaps. Never bothers me. Part of boating I always thought.

Does anyone know where to get the plastic caps to cover them when not in use?

Snaps seem to be more of East Coast deal. Where they live their boat on a lift or in a slip.

I wanted a cockpit cover for my boat, but I could not stand the idea of the snaps. It sure would have been nice to have on a number of occasions though.

Had snap covers on both boats we had in HI. I'm wanting to have a cover made for our current boat and everyone says no snaps for resale..I always liked how the covers fit with them vs just rubbing with straps. Our next boat will be a CC and it will have snap cover for sure.

The snap on covers ruin the look of the boat while its on its trailer in a temperature controlled garage ! The only thing that ruins resale more of a boat is if there is any proff of it getting wet ! 🤣

I won’t have a boat without a snap on cover. If you’re just going from storage to the lake, no big deal. But if you tow any distances, its a necessity. All summer long I see people posting about losing their seat cushions on the freeway, not a problem with a cover. Function over form on this one for me.

I love having one. You don't have to wipe down the whole boat every morning when left in the water, or on the trailer outside.

The pic of 3 boats on trailer, a huge wildfire started across the lake. It was raining ash. (I had a full cover also, but let someone else in our group, who didn't have a cover, put it on their boat.)

It's certainly a Function vs Appearance dilemma.
No question they serve a good purpose.
Many vehemently dislike the look of them(🙋‍♂️) and you now have 88 buttons to detail around.

My boat is garaged, haven't had a need to tow it any great distance in weather.

I’ve seen them on some lighter layup mass production boats (sea ray, chaparral) and have seen a bunch of spider web cracks coming out from them. I think I’d be even more concerned if it’s an assembly line boat drilling all those holes.

Form follows function.
Besides I think they look bitchen.
Fun when a customer watches you drill their boat full of holes. I put a small pencil mark for layout. Can’t see it. Then if customer is “ standing watch” I just act like I’m eyeballing it and punch the boat full of holes. Good times.
