Sedona today. Haven't played in a couple months because of my stupid left shoulder. Happy with an 87 on a new course.

Got into a tournament at Pechanga yesterday. The Journey course is quite an interesting layout. My first time there. The elevation changes were crazy! Started out with pars on the first three holes. I'm like... oh yeah this is it! Promptly followed up with a 7 and a 6 on the next holes. LOL Such is golf. I got in trouble a few times not knowing the course at all. It has some tricky spots for sure.

Driving across water into a heavy breeze is a bit intimidating. I used a 3 wood to keep it low and just barely made it.

Lots of spots with great views. Great condition. And we got to play for $107 instead of the normal $200+.

I was invited to Goat Hill on Tuesday morning. Never been there. Its an executive course in Oceanside. We'll see how that goes.
My shoulder and back have been hurting for a couple months but I got tired of waiting to heal up and just decided to deal with the pain. Played Admiral Baker and Balboa in the past couple weeks. My scores are suffering since I can't swing as hard as I used to, but it is worth it just to get out and play.

Journey course is really nice and has difficult spots for sure, as shown, some amazing views. But several years back, they had golf carts that were so comfy, I didn’t want to get out of it to golf.

I hope they have the same carts… how did you get the discounted golf?

Friend got a ace on the 6th hole of the Crosby last Monday! He’s been playing golf for 6 months! The set of used golf clubs I got him now has 3 aces!!!! Two from the previous friend that owned them!! He won’t sell them to me!

Congrats to your friend. He’s gonna think that’s normal.
My old boss has a house there. Played there quite a bit when we worked together. That damn course owns me, especially 18.

You have to play 18 like a long par 3 just aim for the small square window behind the green and let it rip!

It was organized by a group called CSC Golfers. They do it once a month at different courses. Usually San Diego . The organizer tries to work a discount for bringing a bunch of people and it usually works. I just played with a friend who is a member and when I heard they had three extra spots we filled em! Nice bunch of people.

The carts were great. Upgraded seats with the Ostrich look for the trim.

Holy Crap. Goat Hill in Oceanside was a challenge. It is mostly short par 4s, multiple par 3s and one par 5.

I birdied one and parred only a few. The par 5 and the par four 18 are the only "normal" holes. I nailed those. Every thing else is up hill, down hill, cross hill or over ravines onto tiny turtle back greens. I hit several greens only to roll off the side and tumble 40 feet down the hill. It is cool to be able to go driver, wedge on a lot of holes.

The guy who owns Ashworth golf gear owns the course. The greens were still plenty sandy but will be tits in another week. They have an outdoor fire pit, a cool little bar and restaurant. If you get the chance go check it out. Take a cart. Walking is only for the very fit! LOL

The driving range has a ton of targets. Some of them are large bells and gongs. Everyone knows when you hit one.... Bong!!!!!

Xander Shauffele and Freddy Couples played there over the weekend in a little charity event. Definitely a great vibe. Drinking and Golfing seems to be encouraged at this low key course.

I thought the whole point of golf was a 151 shot at each hole

Went to the AMEX a couple weeks ago. Awesome weather out in La Quinta! Friday night on the driving range Gwen Stefani played a concert, and on Saturday night Darius Rucker played. It was cold at night, but still pretty fun. We hung out in the Corona Lounge.

Played Crossings at Carlsbad yesterday. Greens pretty nice, overall in good shape. I picked up a Calloway Epic driver and enjoyed hitting bombs! LOL

Love Papago. I had the famous cart barn guy sign my 2 iron there years ago after a round.

PS. Tiger -3 over the last 3 holes today. If i wasn’t heading out of town I’d be at Riviera this weekend. Pretty cool to see his group all birdie 18. Rory, JT and Tiger. Could be a fun weekend if his leg holds up.

Dont worry, she doesnt hate you!
Steph doesnt read these does she?
Steph pops on every few weeks. Think she checks what I’m posting and then moves on🤷‍♂️😬. I’ll give the signal “Cookoo, cookoo” when she runs across these to give you time to get your story together.

Finally after all these years I'm taking lessons. I've been playing for 25 years and besides some half ass attention when I was on the golf team in highschool I've never had lessons. I've toped out on my own averaging around 12 index at my home course. So basically a mid 80s player. I can't break into the 70s.

I signed up a golf TEC. It's not cheap but there system is pretty sweet. It's all simulator work with computer and pro analysis. I can also practice on my own 90 mins a week for the next 4 months during my lessons.

My swing is decent but when he broke it down in slow motion there are some eye opening things.

I played the for first time in a while yesterday. On the first par three I dropped it four feet from the hole and won the closest to the pin contest. I was pretty stoked for the day. Two holes later I had an 8, followed by some other triples. LOL Native Oaks in Valley Center. Super wet, some narrow and blind shots. I didn't do very well at all. But it was better than work! One of our playing foursome was a fellow named Brandon who used to rig boats for DCB. That was a cool surprise.

Lessons can help a ton if you’re willing to listen and stick with it.

But if you want to drop strokes of your game fast get a shag bag and 50 or more of the same ball you use when you play. Set up at a chipping green a couple days a week and go through the bag a few times from all around the green. Then before you leave each day take 10 ball and pick a few random spots around the green and try to get up and down with as many of the 10 balls as you can. You’d be surprised how much straighter your drives will be with all the new confidence you gain knowing your short game is on point.

Played Sawgrass last week.

The Stadium course ($500) was great (bogeyed 17 both days), but the Dye Valley ($300) fairways were in poor shape.

The Marriot ($350) is dated. Friendly bartenders and a beautiful dining room hostess though.

That's the reason I'm a mid 80s golfer. Short game. Especially green side chipping is pretty solid. Everytime a go to the range I spend half my time on short game.

My struggle is for sure driving and iron consistently and course management in general. I didn't play much this off season but I'm finally going to put effort into the mental side as well. Playing smarter. I'm hoping that paired with the lessons will get rid of the 1 or 2 blow up holes that keep me in the 80s instead of the 70s. A couple penalties is really all it takes.

Plus it's going to be hard not to listen on these lessons lol. They literally show you in slow motion where you're messing up on a big ass TV. And then after the lesson day email you that video 😂.
