Looks to us in Sarasota / Venice FL directly. I finally after 12 years bought a generator this morning when my friend in Dallas calls and asks "if we were coming to visit us next week because of the storm?". I said "No, we're going to ride this fucker out, again". We hang up and he calls back 10 minutes later saying "just say the word and I'll put you guys a plane tomorrow. We're boarding up now and looks like we're having some Texas BBQ. tomorrow. Send the thoughts, prayers, and all that shit as well pay the sunshine tax.

It’s going right over us on the east coast. Tried to buy a generator today, no luck.

The Gulf Coast of Florida can't seem to catch a break. Damn. This is another storm that has the propensity to gain a ton of strength as it moves further east into the Gulf. I'll be watching this one too since I've got family along the Gulf Coast north of Tampa.

I just reserved a 1 ton truck for Tuesday. I am preparing to pull my boat out.

I have been hoping that the track changes, but right now, it’s not looking good for us on East Coast. 941Punk is most likely going to take a direct hit. No matter what, it’s going to cross over the Florida peninsula, only question is where?

This is one of the main reasons why I have anxiety every fall. You hope and pray, but you know……. It’s only a matter of time until your number comes up. Hurricane Roulette. It’s no fun at all.

FWIW……… I never liked the name Milton!

Daughter lives on Snell Island near downtown St Pete. Most have 3 -4 ft of water last storm and the junk is still piled up along the sidewalks. She was lucky with only 12" in the garage but it did not flood the first floor. If the storm surge is over 9.5 ft it gets in.
They move about two house in each garbage truck, when Milton hits the junk will fly all over. Lot of cars totaled and they are not ready for another storm.
She is heading to Orlando to stay in a hotel with generator.
Pray her house does not get flooded this time.

Well Jim Cantore is in Tampa, so it may move up there. Although he was in the wrong area for IAN,

I'm in the Melbourne/Cocoa Beach area been raining a lot last couple days. No winds yet. Just scooped up some extra gas Non ethanol for the generator just in case. Last one, winds hit 33mph with some 40 mph gusts. So nothing really too bad.

Well, now it's shy of a Cat 5 and the absolute worse case senario is playing out for my area. I'm in South Venice. We're out of here in 4 hours to Dallas. Pray for Florida. ✌🏻

Team member in Tampa, just got the mandatory exec order this morning.

With 2 kids under 6 they are finishing storm prep today then heading north east tomorrow morning.

They don't want to chance it. They had friends lose everything with the last storm.

My father just keeps looking at house the cameras in cape coral from CA... Cant do anything but watch.

Ian damaged the roof and the lanai and made a mess, but no flooding as the house is pretty high.

Can expect the same this go around if it gets any bigger.

Boat is about 8' above water on the lift.

Trying to be a little positive here... but it looks like it's supposed to weaken some before landfall?

Obviously there will still be heavy damage but CAT 5 vs. CAT 3 is a big difference.

Since the storm has started tracking north…….. I cancelled my truck rental. It looks like I will ride it out on my dock.

I just wish my boatlift was not broken. My boat will have to ride out the wind, while tied to my whips, in my spare dock.

Last night was brutal, as far as wind. I ended up having to readjust lines, while driving rain and wind was hitting. No fun.

I am just waiting for a break in the weather to make further adjustments. This sucks!

Things that worry me…….. Pulling a cleat out of boat or piling. I can reinforce the piling, but not the boat. I plan on using the cleats on the opposite side of my boat as backup.

This is the first time that I have left my boat in water since I purchased it. It always goes onto my lift. Right now, I need parts for lift, which is missing the bunks on starboard side, so I cannot use it. However, I will probably lower it for the storm, to reduce the wind torque.

Did I mention that hurricanes suck? F**k

I’ve got step family in St. Petersburg. Trying to figure out what they’re gonna do. They have a hole in manhattan beach as well so they can always come back to California for a week or 2.

Sounds like a good excuse to grab the wife hop In the boat and head to the keys for a few days. Wishing you and the rest of the Floridians the best of luck.

Edit just looked at the new arrival time chart. Doesn't look like anywhere in Florida is gonna escape the path of this one in some form. Damn this is a massive storm.

That sucks. Hope your boat comes out fine. You are no rookie so tying boat down should be okay.

We have a longtime friend, since elementary school, she and her husband live in Palm Harbor, about 9 miles north of Clearwater FL. As of now, many of the predicted tracks show it passing right through her area. If so, this would bring maximum storm surge to the greater Tampa/Clearwater area. Last word was they intended to stay. . . . . Reports say winds are now 175 mph. Have to wonder if that was an estimate, or an actual speed taken via a flight into the storm?

Looks like you have two bunks (sistered) on one side and none on the other. Can’t you just split the sister and move it over to the other side, temporarily? Then you could get the boat on the lift.
