This story is just breaking and illustrates perfectly what terrifies me about gun violence in America. There are plenty of individuals on both sides of the ideological divide whom I trust RIGHT NOW with guns. But time and again we see that no race, class, profession, political party is entirely free of evil people. A Sig 40 lives under the bed, but the Rem 870 and 00 buckshot in the gun locker would generally be my preference if I had the opportunity to access it and it really was an "SHTF" scenario. Remember how long the DC sniper terrorized DC (with an accomplice)? If this guy planned it out, DC is a target rich environment for a whacko with a grudge to bear.

An entire hard working community of laundromats, restaurants, stores, that had nothing to do with anything found their businesses and themselves under massive siege with no one to help.

An especially foul tactic were the gangs use of firebombing as a way of driving the occupants out into the waiting gunfire. After one of two of those word got out and from then on - those the gangs were successfully held out of throwing range with long guns on roofs.

By then I was holed up behind walls at home with several armed competent friends all standing watch.
We had our own roof watch with enough oomph to ward off nearly anything by this point as well.
There wasn't any work to go to anymore so we waited and watched ready to pick up the pieces and decide if we were going to start over.

- but people tell me all the time I have "no need" for a semi automatic weapon.....people have very short memories.
