True for anyone. Doesn’t change what I wrote at all.

But your post is indicative of somebody who has no idea really what I’m talking about. You realize that if the kid that attempted to take out Trump from that rooftop would’ve focused on center of mass instead of his head, we would be having a much different conversation right now.
This thread has gone all over the map of hypotheticals. Only reason I said shot through the eye was because I figured you’d come back with “a person in shape would have a better chance of surviving a center mass shot”

I surrendered. You win the in shape, bad ass of the week. I’ll just sit here cowering in my bunker waiting for someone to take it all.🤣

Don’t take this the wrong way, but most of you have no idea what you’re up against with someone who is trained in weapon manipulation, tactics and teamwork.

Not to mention your physical ailments.
Your average American is a borderline diabetic caring around 30 to 40 pounds of chub and abuses their body on the daily.

Get yourself in shape and seek out training with places like HaleyStrategic and Mike Pannone.

And stop buying cheap piece of shit equipment. Your 499 deal Buster AR 15 is no match against professional grade equipment. Just look at the ass clown with the SKS in Florida trying get Trump.
Abso freaking lutely!

Could it be CC? Regardless of needing it or not

No. That would be around 15% of Wyoming residents (men, women, and children) applying for a CC permit in one year alone. And, as you pointed out, they don't need it to carry concealed. We only got ours for reciprocity recognition in other states. That goes for hunting also. I doubt 15% of the entire population of WY issued licenses for hunting. Good guess though. The only thing I can guess is the person who wrote it either has terrible data, and/or is not from this country and has no idea that the majority of states do not require a license for purchasing a firearm, or require them to be licensed at time of purchase. That person would likely be shocked at the very idea of that.

Same reason I got the CC in AZ....reciprocity

I would hope whoever put that together would have a sound answer for their data or it just torpedoes the rest of it

I’m of the opinion that he did favor center mass, but having likely zeroed his red dot at 50 yards or less (if at all), he missed high due to no understanding of trajectory and arc.
Especially considering a 2.5” (+-) barrel / optic centerline.
He did not have a scope as you probably know. He had a red dot, a pretty good red dot, but still a red dot.
He also had offset iron sights deployed, but they would be useless firing prone as he was.

So the first axis intersect would be at 50 yards (or whatever he zeroed at) with the projectile still climbing pretty hard at 130-150 yards.
Any shorter zero point would produce an even higher elevated miss at 130-150 yards…the published range of his shots.
So sticking to a 50 yard zero, a closer range than 50 yard shot on target would be low, and not from ballistic characteristics, but simply due to the trigonometry of scope/ barrel axis.

Bullet drop would not start until well beyond the target stage. (Trump)
Center mass to his ear is how many inches on Trump?
On me it’s 10.5 “ from sternum to earlobe.
The peak trajectory on a 50 yard zero happens around 200 yards…at about 16” high. This is all dependent on ammo of course, but the math is correct.
So…if he had aimed at trumps head he would have missed completely.
I too initially thought he aimed for a head shot…but the reality is that he more than likely aimed more center mass but failed to do his trigonometry.
The FBI has not released any info on the zero aspect they found with the rifle so it’s all speculation.

It’s a well thought out theory. Red dots are 50 yd zero’s. So you use hold overs up close. I know at 100-200 yards your within a couple of inches POA/POI depending on ammo.

I think he tried to head shot and trumps head movement saved his cranium.

Turning his head definitely made the difference.

My thoughts are also connected to the fact that the kid “failed” marksmanship in school or whatever. So he has no firm grasp of ballistics.
Unless we know the zero point of the rifle we can only guess.
50 yards is a good zero for most AR red dots, practically speaking. (Mine vary with caliber and barrel length)
Under 50 yard shots will still only vary the 2 1/2” of optic height at most. But at 150 yards it’s over 12” with a 16” barrel and both .223 or 5.56.

You should have seen me trying to shoot the RPR with my 50 year old Leupold 3x9 and the 20 MOA rail! Lol
I had it dialed all the way down (turret has almost no travel) and still held 7” low to put it on target.
That was an educational day.

Edit: I’m going to test this theory later on at the local range with red dots and iron sights.

Just trying to plan appropriately for this war...

Dunno. If I were a gun guy, which I'm not, I have to wonder how many bodies could be attributed to a simple, mass produced weapon like an AK-47...the Toyota HiLux of guns.

I don't think dollars spent on a rifle equates to a decent weapon. I know many people with AR platforms that don't know how to replace gas rings, or assemble the trigger group. The best gun is the one that goes bang every time, and you have with you when you need it.

Define “best they can”?

It’s been proposed that against a militia, we would win based on greater numbers.
That’s a victory by attrition.
Example “we had 300 average joes against their 22 trained soldiers and we won!!
It only cost us 150 average joes…”

Is that really a win? So in the ranks of average joes, it’s better to be in the top half than the sacrificial half!👍👍😎😎

Whatever your plan or whatever you might see happening, try to get a little better at it. Practice it once in a while.
Because the things we say we fight for…family, possessions, our way of life, these things mean nothing to this imaginary enemy.

Here’s what my Nightforce reticle looks like.
I practice hold overs often. Especially windage.

No. Get in shape and train. Skip a 3k weekend at Havasu and learn how to use your tools.

You already mentioned you’re not a gun guy above.

The commie sks & AK’s have canted sights and shot to shit barrels in the majority of budget buys. You’re buying de milled surplus or sloppy seconds.

Minute of angle verses minutes.

Have you tried to find 762x39 lately? The good ole cheap surplus is gone. Why you want a cartridge that we don’t mass produce here in the US with berdan primers?

I hear what you are saying, but the Vietcong and Taliban would prove most of this wrong....

It's basically impossible to beat an insurgency. Which is why the US military have failed at every one they attempted to beat.

They were using $20 AK's made from license plates and other scrap re-stamped in the mountains of pakistan.

Hardened people who live in dirt villages. Not at all the same in comparison to the average doughnut chunky butt with soft hands here in the US.

All I’m saying is don’t just buy the guns and let them sit without knowing how to use them. You can close the delta between a real bad ass and yourself with a little training.

Or just finger fuck your guns and talk shit on the internet. (Not aimed at you)

And the US military would have laid waste to any of those dirt farmers if our soldiers were turned loose. Politics gets in the way.

The taliban weren't hardened badasses, they were roaming goat and poppy farmers that weren't leaving their land..... They weren't experts at being in physical shape or anything else, they had absolute dogshit weapons, no real training, They won by attrition. US forces killed a lot of them, it didn't matter. Because the troops can take control of any area whenever they want, but as soon as they leave, it's right back to the insurgents. There isn't the man power to occupy.

It's not a 1:1 battle with an insurgency, the insurgents will suffer far more losses, even if troops could get a 10:1 ratio it's not even close..... they would need more like 100:1 ratio.... not gonna happen, and with each death of a citizen insurgent, they will just create 3 more as people that were on the fence now have lost a friend, a brother, a son, a father.... etc.

It's not gonna be a rambo type combat situation if it ever happened. It would be troops coming up to somone's door, and getting ambushed. Troops walking down a city street, and getting ambushed. Every door, door to door, it another possible ambush..... Even 400lbs fatasses with $499 K-Mart AR's will win the war of attrition eventually, even if at every encounter pudgy ends up dying. They'd only have to get 1 troop out of every 50 encounters to win definitively.

If you dial yourself in as a badass with training, weapons, whatever, you yourself, you are gonna die most likely, just the same or maybe even worse than the average fatass. You just might be able to get 2 or 3 guys instead of 1 or none....

When I say hardened I mean they know nothing of our happy little convenient comfortable lifestyles. It’s just another day for dirt farmers.

There is no situation where you are going to actively get one over on a troop without them sending in a fuckload more to find your ass is my point. They will divert resources for that no questions asked. Whatever training you have, it's only going to slightly lengthen your time alive, not preserve it till your hair turns grey or falls out. Once you are on their radar i don't care if you have the same skills as a SEAL or Ranger, they are coming for your ass with all they have, in those singular discrete cases attrition goes in their favor as they can put 100 guys on you.

While this is all true, the taliban also were not 40-100 pounds overweight, didn't spend all day Sunday sitting on the couch watching football games, they work outside and labor every day. They don't have a diet of highly processed foods filled with chemicals and high-fructose corn syrup. They don't drink soft drinks and beer. They are just tougher people. The vast majority of our nation is soft. Lucky for us, there are a lot of us soft, fatties ;) Our nation is too large and populated to be occupied for long.

You mentioned going up against experts in "weapon manipulation, tactics and teamwork." The pinnacle of that is a sovereign military, the US military for example..... and even they cannot beat a civilian insurgency. That is the point.

You don't have to be in that great of shape to defend, or put up a good fight, over the place you already live. You have to be in shape if you are going mobile to try and take over the place someone else lives....

You could send 10 infantry to some fatass gun guys house.... If they are smart they should be scared as fuck. Because fat boy has a very good chance of getting one of them even if it's certain death for him.

Best way to stay alive is to NOT get involved in a deadly fight....

deny them any opportunity for a fight.

if a deadly fight is inevitable then the smart option is to let the fight come to you on home turf.....

And likewise, the stupid option is to try and bring a fight to someone else on their home turf....

The best defense for going into a dangerous neighborhood, situation, area, whatever.... It's not a concealed weapon, it's not training, it's "Don't go into that fuckin neighborhood" 🤣 🤣 🤣

This makes no sense. They brought the fight to Washington, just how he wanted it.

The colonists exhausted every option over the decade or more prior to "first shots" to resolve the conflict through diplomacy, peacefully.

The battle of concord the British arrived to try and seize the weapons of the militia, the colonists had already known their plans, moved it all, and ambushed the red coats......

George Washington did not amass an army and then try attacking a British army stronghold.... Washington did not raise a navy and try invading the island of Great Britain....

For the record, most of RDP calls for murder in many instances. A sheriff recently murdered a judge after cornering him in his chambers and flat out executed him and many here cheered based on rumor.
Even supercop called it a murder.
Of course, it’s likely none of those peeps have ever killed someone so it’s mostly just hyperbole.

Having said that, I Love this thread.
It’s always educational to me hearing what others picture for the future.
Some of us live on acreage, some of us live in suburbia, some of live in a communist state already.
If no one minds a slight tangent to explore our mind sets,
I am curious how we as individuals picture this street fight going?
Who do you imagine will be the enemy? How do you picture your first firefight going?
What criteria will determine target identification?
Anyone approaching the perimeter?
I realize all this depends on the type of collapse, so let’s stick with “settling it on the streets”.
Are sleeper cells the enemy? Individual plants?
Your starving liberal neighbor?
I’m not being argumentative, I’m being sincere.
We have our guns, we have our ammo…now what?

Kyle Rittenhouse neutralized 3 armed attackers (killing 2) with 8 rounds of .223 and an off the shelf Smith Sporter, while in a tactical retreat on a crowded street.
Let’s do some math.
We have 3000 rounds of .223 or 5.56
We have 5 magazines with 30 rds each.
Here comes the enemy. They are shooting 7.76 at you just like in heartbreak ridge. Or they are unarmed and hungry. Or they have an off the shelf AR15 (90% of Havasu) with a Romeo 3 and no idea of ranging or ballistics.
Either way we draw down.
Let’s say in our panic and unnerved state we only put 1 out of 10 rounds on separate targets.
So for each of our 5 magazines we generate 3 casualties.
That’s 15 bodies laying on the ground dead or wounded.

Show of hands…Who here thinks they can successfully neutralize 15 probably trained enemy combatants in a firefight?
What happens to the other 95 magazines of ammo?
If it is an armed uniformed enemy, half of us will die in the initial targeted artillery. Entire neighborhoods will disappear.
That’s what we do militarily everywhere we go.
So how do you guys see it?
In General, we are one big mass, ready to protect the tribe from Aliens 👽

🍻😉😁

This makes no sense. They brought the fight to Washington, just how he wanted it.

The colonists exhausted every option over the decade or more prior to "first shots" to resolve the conflict through diplomacy, peacefully.

The battle of concord the British arrived to try and seize the weapons of the militia, the colonists had already known their plans, moved it all, and ambushed the red coats......

George Washington did not amass an army and then try attacking a British army stronghold.... Washington did not raise a navy and try invading the island of Great Britain....
Caught that did ya?

Best way to stay alive is to NOT get involved in a deadly fight....

deny them any opportunity for a fight.

if a deadly fight is inevitable then the smart option is to let the fight come to you on home turf.....

And likewise, the stupid option is to try and bring a fight to someone else on their home turf....

The best defense for going into a dangerous neighborhood, situation, area, whatever.... It's not a concealed weapon, it's not training, it's "Don't go into that fuckin neighborhood" 🤣 🤣 🤣
No way would I be out looking for the fight. Circle the wagons and protect the perimeter is the best I could hope for. Breeching the perimeter...ahhhh its on for sure

Why i like simplicity when it comes to mine.IMO it aint about the blinged out with top of th line optics and name brand high dollar ar.Its about the user and what he knows.
My sbr yes hasa a red dot but its also a range toy and a 10.5 barrel aint that great for beyond 100 yards anyways.it also aint a 2000 dollar one either but i will hit target from 25 to 200 pretty easy with it.My a2 i got in 98 rings 8-10 inch targets at 200 8 out of 10 shots with its irons.I can put the tasco 3-9x40 scope back on a go alot further and cut the 100-200 yarders to an inch group. cant tell how manytimes i go to range and a guy is working on his ar missing the targets left and right but wont forget to tell me how much his optic cost and the gun then about the fancy trigger,

in a time when a gun is needed simple and a good user will win most times. Wheter its an anderson lower with psa parts or a high dollar ar rifle the one who knows how to use them will be the one to avoid.I reload my ammo and i do get a kick at range when i have my a2 with rubber tasco and bi pod telling them it will shoot undr 1 inch at 100 with mil spec parts and they laugh til they see it done.

I’d certainly have to see it to believe it…unless your name is Elmer Kieth junior.
I just this minute got home from my range. Red dot day.
This is what today reminded of.
The choice of a red dot optic…any red dot optic…is the #1 by far hands down absolute worst (for him, best for us) choice that dipshit could have made. He would have had more success with iron sights than trying to plant a red dot on a human at 150 yards.
I zeroed at 50 yards. Bullet rise at 150 yards was 4-6 inches so who knows where the kid was aiming.
The truth is that he just stuck the dot wherever he could see it on Trump and let it fly.

200 yards with a 10 1/2” barrel and a red dot, or tasco glass?
I just shot my 10 1/2” barrel in 300 blackout, 150 supersonic.
Romeo 4 no magnifier. 50 yards was MOA, 100 yards was quadrant shooting.

My eyes aren’t what they used to be, but at 200 yards with no magnification even the finest red dot just fills the whole target.

All I know is thank god these idiots have chosen the absolute worst equipment the job…your amazing talent aside. 👌
A savage 110 22-250 would have been a better choice for a 150 yard shot, or entry level ruger.

My sbr does not do moa.but will hit out to 200 here and there.under 100 it’s more often It’s just a range toy for now

My a2 with 20 inch barrel has done it and can still do it. Was out couple weeks ago and was hitting steel 200 yds on irons 8 out of 10 times. Haven’t had the scope bi pod set up in years as I got bored with it
Right now I’m enjoying the irons I’ve had that a2 for 26 or so years I know it well and been reloading for it and found the combo that works.

I was just telling my shooting buddy today that I shoot my 16” Smith Sporter better with the flip ups than with the run of the mill red dot.
Going to transplant a Romeo 5 onto it tomorrow and try again. Can’t see the justification of putting a holograph on it since I’m not a navy seal.
It has the gas block front sight, but that’s a perfect co-witness with the rear sight down, and can be shot with the red dot mounted but the light turned off.
Where do you shoot?
I’m always ready to learn from those who are a better shot than me!
And frankly thats most people to be honest. Lol
But I’m getting better everytime.

I will hit the blm range near pleasant but go midweek. Sometimes I head further down to mm14 if I plan on playing more with targets. I have 4 steel and a dueling tree. I may do a small simple handgun course to shoot run shoot etc.

I been playing with the close range stuff mostly lately but gonna set the 20 inch ar with scope and bipod again so may hit Avery soon. The blm ranges are great if you are sighted in already since you can’t go out on range. The one south of 74 is great for long range 2-7 hundred yard steel.

I have a 300 wm also but damn thing hurts the shoulder. So will use the armalite a2 for 2-500 and going to build a 16 inch ar with new lower I got. I’m still a fan of the old school stuff so it may be a m4 style and irons so I will have 3 different ars for different use. Oh and still have a colt a2 in the safe too that rarely gets shot

My model 70 .300 WM stays in the safe these days.
It’s a punisher compared to my other longer range stuff.

I’ve been to the BLM ranges there, am planning a trip on Monday to stretch the legs on the Ruger precision at the 700 range.

Im working in ca right now or id go out there too the 700 yard one is nice, just wish the steel would ring better i try and shoot often during the cooler months. Then head over to wildhorse for a beer and bowl of chili.Like to build a nice bolt gun for that range that is softer on the shoulder i reload so most calibers can do as it will just be a target gun.

too many damn choices though

I’m loving my RPR in 6.5 creedmoor.
Bolt action, magazine, 24” barrel
It’s a pleasure to shoot.
