Our daughter lives near Seoul and has been out and about. She says a little less busy than normal..........
Government there being proactive.

My son was going to be heading to Pyeongtaek. He talks to his buddies on a regular basis and they confirmed your statement above. He was on the fence to re-book a direct flight for more money but decided not to. His two concerns were the spread of the virus when visiting friends and his job, not a business trip.

Question? So what happens to your job here in the states if while your on vacation you get stranded in another country due to a travel ban etc?

Will your company hold your position or cut you loose?

With that said it looks like my son made the right decision to stay here in the U.S. till the corona virus smoke clears...

... The Costco in Burbank today was a total freak show ...I would say 80% of the store was in a panic ...my friend Cindy who heads the pharmacy department got real serious about scrubbing her hands...some of the other girls the girls the girls to take your money ...every half hour or so would clean the counters with Lysol spray disinfectant ...whole thing was just weird... Felt like I was in a Third World country and generally Burbank is not that way at all...😱

LOL!!!!!!!! that's because Burbank is a 3rd world country!!!!!only peeps that say its not are the poor souls stuck there or choosing to stay, haaaa
always the same kinda comments about the place, ive been in that Costco several times and decided to never go years ago, anywhere in the valley is an improvement from Burbank location.

Probably the wise choice.
Her school decided to stay closed another week as well(already been 2 weeks). It is school year change over anyhow and more than likely why your sons buddy was free for visits too.
All the newly recruited teachers arrived this week.
.
.
On a side note. When she is out in public and if anyone is to cough nearby the reaction is generally a death stare from those around the "cougher". She says it's comical to watch but understands the fear people are having.

Only real impact on me has been trying to find dust masks for my guys. We burn through about 20 each day. If you see any boxes of the disposable dust masks with the little breather valve I would be happy to pay double plus the shipping

Up here north of Seattle it’s nuts! A nursing home got hit bad with 10 dead so far. Major places like Amazon down town are all work from home or closed, friend says it’s like going back in time 30 years you can walk right into a restaurant easily find parking and the commute time is way down. Sounds ok but now the schools have cancelled everything that isn’t during school hours, all the plays the kids have worked on for months, all sports all events. I think this part sucks the most as I know people with High School Seniors and time loose everything possibly prom sucks! We had to stop working yesterday to wipe everything down but I asked if we should start doing it before each shift and was told no? I am happy about the extra cleaning though, I work with nasty ass people.

The company I work for sent a employee home for 2 weeks after returning from a vacation in the Philippines . They closed the office Friday morning for cleaning until further notice . The guy feels fine and has zero signs of sickness . Funny how company's panic .

Similar happened at my wife’s work.

Guy was on vacation in Vietnam, got stuck there for three weeks.

Comes back to the US, and is told to stay home for two weeks, to work from home.

This idiot thought his boss was joking, and he shows up for work!

They had security escort him out, and they deactivated his badge so he couldn’t come back.

Then they disinfected the places he was at.

Why would companies want people to stay home? Trump said it was ok to go to work with the virus.

If you’re taking advice from a politician regardless of party versus an epidemiologist, I’ve got a bridge to sell you in Havasu. :)

Home depot was out, but had pallets to water and toilet paper was on the shelves. Funny didn't see one basket with anything out of the ordinary

In our case it's because a women was given a job that she has no idea what she's doing ! But shows the world we are not biased in our hiring !

If this continues like this, I predict schools will be closed in a couple of weeks for a month. Better be prepared.
They just announced today that one of the largest school districts in NorCal is now closed next week.

Well, if your job is covered under FMLA you have up to twelve weeks of job protection.

You could also make the case under ADA that being quarantined is a reasonable accommodation based on govt guidelines.

Very unfortunate, due to the BS actions and reports of the news media for the last 4 yrs, we no longer know what to believe. Fake news is a reality. (That may be a true oxymoron). That includes some BS posts on here by one person. But, I totally doubt he'll go to work, just because he believes Trump said so . . . . . . He'll let his wife do that.

Stacy has a week long trip to New York planned with her friends in the near future.. They all decided to cancel it and are now battling for refunds on certain things..

other than that hasn’t affected me yet..
How has it affected your household?

Are you doing anything to prepare? Stocking up on food / supplies etc?
May not have been a bad idea to cancel NY

The last bad ass flu was the Eastern strain B and I caught it.
MFSOB it was brutal.

We figure if it hits us the kids will have brought it home from school like all the other sickies.

71 students from Murietta asked to self-quarantine in the last 24 hours after an employee at the school got roped in by the virus.
School will be closed starting tomorrow.

I'm not sure I understand the TP and water thing myself. However with that said I have always kept a decent supply of both on hand. After seeing and reading what was happening in China and the spreading of the virus. It made sense for me to double my normal supply and I did that prior to Costco rationing some of those supplies. Now I just have to continue to replenish on my normal scheduled biweekly shopping trips.

A friend of mine runs a praxaire.. Corporate sent out a memo to all their store managers awhile back to remove all dust masks and N95 masks from the shelves..

This was weeks ago before the hysteria got this bad.

In Talking to him he could find no reason to pull them off the shelves at the time??

Is some of this hysteria being promoted and produced?

One confirmed case in San Diego and people are panicking like the Black Plague is upon us. Good friend of ours is a well known physician at UCSD and states that this is being WAY overblown by the media. Yes the virus packs a punch but typically no worse than the common flu. I would love to see the media actually report on the number of people who have already recovered from this or are recovering nicely versus the number of people who have succumbed to the illness. The real question is why on earth are people hoarding toilet paper? Had to order online just to get a few roles as we're almost out and there isn't one roll on the shelves at the stores. Water, soup and other canned goods I can understand but TP? C'mon folks...get a grip.

I was in downtown Vancouver yesterday afternoon. The area I was in has several large office towers. The street is usually very busy with people. Most of the major nice hotels are in the area too, so that street traffic has a lot of tourists. The street was like a Sunday people wise, in other words empty. Grabbed Fatburger at noon in a large food court, usually very busy with office workers. Non of the businesses had lines and not very many people around at all.

I had whatever pandemic flu went around in 2008. Worked at Capital Records, the guy in the next cubicle got it and I was taking the Metro & Redline (Always wore gloves) so not sure of the source, but it was BAD! 5 blankets and the heater at 85, still freezing, sever aches. Can’t even describe the stomach part, BUT, I lived to tell!! And I smoked at that time.
Off topic: I believe that’s when I quit, 6-7 days without, figure it best to just keep it going.

That was H1N1 flu strain. As was pointed out recently that pandemic hit early in O'bamas presidency and we were all told to remain calm and it would be OK. 1000 people died before the federal govt did anything.

Depending on you yard stick, this administration has been far more responsive than past administrations in dealing with these situations.

I had H1N1 Feb 2008 and it was the sickest I have ever been, it made my salmonella poisoning a walk in the park. For 5 days I couldn't get my temp below 101°.
