A few years ago my brother in law invited us to Discovery Bay to stay in a house he rented. I had spent a ton of time on the Delta with the DLB group years ago and always enjoyed it. But I had never been up there with my own boat.

My kids started wakeboarding and water skiing a few seasons ago and the delta is the perfect place for water sports. It’s also an easy drive up
The 5 freeway. Heading through the desert to Havasu can get old. It’s also not the ideal place to ski and wakeboard.

At any rate, we had such a great time every year we went to the delta we made it an annual family trip. We try and stay somewhere different each time. This year we are bringing the motorhome and staying at Jellystone/Tower Park. We camped at Lake Don Pedro last season and it reminded me of how much fun I had as a kid camping at the lakes and rivers with family and friends.

My kids loved it as well as they can ride there bikes and roam free for the most part. We have been spoiled as a family as we typically rent a house or hotel when we go to Havasu . I’m actually enjoying camping at the lake a bit more. In a campground we aren’t “stuck” in a house or hotel or always on the move to get on the water, go eat somewhere etc… It feels more like a vacation and I seem to relax more.

Motorhome and boat are hooked up. Headed over the grapevine… The fire and ashes dirty up the motorhome and boat so I had the boat detailed. Not enough time for the motorhome to get washed..

Made it to Los Banos! Im
Supposed to be on a diet. Carls Jr. was the easiest place to stop.

My wife and kids have had a tough week. Got back from Hawaii at 1am last night. 😂

I’ve stayed there before. Nice size park. Very kid friendly. If it hasn’t changed the launch ramp is very steep being on a levy and as I recall I was launched by a tractor they have on site.

B&W Resort has 24 hr gas pumps with 91 octane very close to Tower Park. Stay in the middle of that slough, do NOT cut behind any of the islands. That slough parallels highway 12

Tons of places for food, most under 30 minutes by boat. Wimpy’s, Al the WOP’s, Tony’s, Steamboat Landing, Rusty Porthole, Sugar Barge, Point, Foster’s, Lucy’s, Tiki Grill, King Island, Windmill Cove and more.
All the above have full liquor. Food ranges from good to off the charts. Unfortunately, we lost two restaurants in the past couple of years. Moore’s Riverboat and Guisti’s. Guisti’s has a long history in the Delta, over 100 years. Fantastic food. It was in a wood stilted structure that a fire took out.
One really nice amenity is if you like to ski or wakeboard, when it gets blown out wind wise, one turn and it will be perfect.

Great advice & spot on. The back way thru the small sloughs over to Garlic Brothers is GREAT for watersports & the food is fantastic. Skip the food at Windmill but the view is fantastic

Think we’ll check out Al’s when we’re up on the 4th. I see it’s one street off the river. Is there on the water boat parking there?

The main public docks in Walnu Grove are very nice but current is strong there. It's probably 1/2 mile walk to Al the Wops

Looks like you got a nice shady camp spot. Great fun for the kids. Hope to see you on the water.

Spot does look nice, I was going to add that's one way to make sure the kids don't watch TV if you have a dish on top. LOL

Glad you’re back and running! I took a relay to autozone in havasu and they said they couldn’t help without knowing the year and make of the car 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

lol... that's the worst! Luckily Napa will cross reference part numbers. They are the best option for finding parts that aren't for a specific "year, make and model". I Picked two extra relays. Good thing we weren't in BFE on the water floating. My buddy steve jimmied up a jumper wire for emergencies and the boat will start without the relay now.

Now I need to play with props and tabs as the boat will porpoise like a morherfucker if I raise the tabs. Doesn't matter where the trim is at....

Great photos! I'm really looking forward to running the Delta this summer.

Why are you stopping for fast food when you have a motor home though?😁😁😁

Good times. We’ll be up for the 4th. Been to Garlic brothers twice, 1st time pretty good, ok service. 2nd time they said we couldn’t come in because one our ladies had a bikini top on, had to have a shirt. We’re not talking a string nipple cover but a full cover modest top. Really??? we’re on the water….

Typically we pack lunches and hit a beach somewhere.

That’s kinda weird. I think the girls had cover ups. Service isn’t great, but not horrible either. I like stopping there.

There was last year across the street at the boathouse, beware I think it was $15 bucks. The public parking down the river is free, but you gotta walk.

One of my longest friendships, some of you may know him as the owner of the infamous “Murder Vector”…. Steve and I have been boating and camping together since we were 6 years old. We always joked that it would be fun if our kids hung out like we did.

Well fast forward 30+ years later and our boys were attached at the hip all weekend.
