Looking for a Hallett Vector V-Drive project. Preferably a bare hull but will entertain anything. Please let me know if you know anyone.
I wouldn't mind having one eitherLooking for a Hallett Vector V-Drive project. Preferably a bare hull but will entertain anything. Please let me know if you know anyone.
You already have one. Leave some Vectors for the rest of usLooking for a Hallett Vector V-Drive project. Preferably a bare hull but will entertain anything. Please let me know if you know anyone.
What about a Rayson Craft bare hull? Fiber Composites will pop a new one out.
Not true, I have confirmed they will absolutely do a bare hull, it’s just more likely your not going to like the priceNordic/ Hallett has no interest in selling bare hulls. I also would rather have a real OG Hallett
My current vector is getting completely stripped and having all the gel fixed that the guys did last winter with the rear cap and filling all the old holes. Everything is cracked. The boat will be going to Scott Kornowski in February to have that properly fixed with a few small upgrades. I’ve also been building a new trailer for the boat, so I’d just like to get that finished. What is your plan with the current Vector?
Having done this before, Schiada wouldn’t sell a bare hull - didn’t know who we were honestly and what kind of product we would turn out.
Once the boat was complete, we were asked, why didn’t you just have us lay up a new hull…
Has Nordic seen the type of product you’re cable of building?I understand if you simply do not want a new hull though.
Reminds me of @lenmanns beautiful work and the unbelievable attention to detail. It would have been much easier to have Schiada lay up a new hull. But, most likely not as fun in the overall terms of bringing back a boat and making it better than new.
That also means they don’t want to build them lolNot true, I have confirmed they will absolutely do a bare hull, it’s just more likely your not going to like the price
Such a cool boat! Turbos would be bitchin!!Currently deciding which boat I want to keep. My plan has been to put a Gentry turbo kit in this boat over the winter. View attachment 1463217
Just cut a hole in the bottom of yours
Kornowski is good. Ron at Nordic/Hallett is a long time friend, but you may be able to talk to someone else, or have the right person talk to the owner, Randy Davis. Not saying I could do anything, but maybe worth a shot. Pretty sure Mike King would be one of the three Ron referred to. All of us with the exception of Scott Kornowski were involved in water ski racing. My current vector is getting completely stripped and having all the gel fixed that the guys did last winter with the rear cap and filling all the old holes. I tried talking to Ron from Hallett/Notdic at Halletts in Havasu and he pretty much told me to pound sand. He said there were only like 3 guys they would sell a bare hull to (me not being one of them lol). It’s really kinda sad that they have zero desire to do anything with the vector anymore. But keep in mind I’m a pretty low key guy. Most people in the boat industry have no idea who the hell I am.
I really enjoy the rigging process. I love geeking out on all the details. It was honestly pretty cool that I took my boat over to Kornowski having never met the guy and he actually wanted to work on my boat, knowing that all the gel was fucked up. He told me he only works on stuff that he wants to work on. To me that was a huge compliment, considering everything he works on is top notch.
Back in the 90's this boat was ski racing with a Gentry turbo set up. The owner previous to myself had this blown 509 built perhaps 14 years ago, and since I build engines, and have been around lots of turbo engines since when I worked for Gale Banks back in the late 70's, it only makes sense. Given the same base engine the turbos will make more power, sound really cool, and still baffle some people!Such a cool boat! Turbos would be bitchin!!
I used to have a Hallett Mini cruiser that I built a 521ci BBF with a 12psi Banks Twin turbo setup on. Was a fun boat and it hauled ass. I know the gentry stuff was even better. Would love to see you do a build thread if you decided to actually pull the trigger.Back in the 90's this boat was ski racing with a Gentry turbo set up. I’ve never met or talked to Randy Davis before, but it sounds like talking to anyone besides him would just be me spinning my wheels. Mike King was definitely on the list. I know of all of these guys and heard all the stories and have seen all the pictures, but I’ve never met them, nor do they have any idea who I am lol. I’ve been studying all these guys builds for years.Kornowski is good. The 540 Gentry engines that I have put together in the past would make about 1050 HP on the dyno on pump gas. As far as I know, a Banks engine that I rebuilt back in 1981 as a side job while I worked at Rex Marine stayed together well over 30 years. I am looking for more Gentry parts to build a couple more of them before I quit building engines. I have so many parts here, time to start thinning out some of the blocks.I used to have a Hallett Mini cruiser that I built a 521ci BBF with a 12psi Banks Twin turbo setup on. I met Mike King about the time I was working for Banks I think, late 70's. Then Jack Rex sold off his interest in Gale Banks Engineering to Gale, and started Rex Marine, hiring Mike and myself as the first two employees. I was primarily running the parts department, but helped with some of what Mike was doing just because the business was in it's infancy, and I was able to work with tools.I’ve never met or talked to Randy Davis before, but it sounds like talking to anyone besides him would just be me spinning my wheels. Very cool! Lots of history! I’d love to meet some of these guys (including yourself) to just talk to them and ask questions. Once you guys are all gone, it’s up to us younger generation to keep this stuff going. Not many of the younger generation are interested in using their hands and building stuff. Such a bummer. Super thankful to have met the guys at Teague Custom Marine, they were a huge help when they built my motor. I asked a ton of questions and they were always super helpful and knowledgeable when I was rigging the boat. The 540 Gentry engines that I have put together in the past would make about 1050 HP on the dyno on pump gas. Ya ask Randy and let me know. Problem is, even once the new hull was done, it would still need to go to Kornowski to get capped and floors done minimum. I’m a driveway boat builder, my bank account doesn’t work the same as both of their normal customers lol. I might have to get a second job, are you hiring?!I can get price from Randy if you truly want.
just know it’s cheaper to find a hull and redo some glass and all gel, then it is to build new. Not particularly because they don’t want to, but costs are high on everything.
That would be Luxe. Which they are out of business now and owe A LOT of money to customers that left deposits on new boat builds. I was sent there by a buddy that said they would do a badass job. It looked great at first but just started falling apart as soon as I started putting the boat together and started using it.Who did the gel a year ago that is already junk?
Floors on new are already finished, that’s how they stick seadekYa ask Randy and let me know. Now I’m really curious of the priceFloors on new are already finished, that’s how they stick seadek
cap they could do when they build, that’s no big deal. most of Randys ski race boats are capped

Your Vector is a unicorn, I don’t think there is another one in existence that is all original gel and that nice/clean.Now I’m really curious of the price
Thanks Mike! I’ve had a blast making it mine and getting her all dialed in. As you know, I drive my boat and really enjoy the setup stuff and testing new props.This.

You will never be happy with someone else’s 30 year old project when it comes to how nice you like things. Unless you dropped it off at Kornowskis for 6+ months.
Even then, I think you’d be happier with a fresh canvas and a boat that is 100% composite and the only holes drilled are the ones you did.
Start new. Ron, will build you one. I’m sure of it.
Maybe we can get a package deal for two or three of them. I want to start from scratch. Thanks Mike! I’ve had a blast making it mine and getting her all dialed in. As you know, I drive my boat and really enjoy the setup stuff and testing new props.
I’d entertain a new one if it wasn’t crazy expensive. Sounds like I need to get all you cool boat guys to sit down with randy and Ron since I don’t know them lol
Maybe we can get a package deal for two or three of them. I want to start from scratch.
I don’t think they will be cheap enough though.
Hull only? 40?Maybe we can get a package deal for two or three of them. I want to start from scratch.

I feel like we could definitely boost some Hallett sales, that’s for sure. I’ll build one for Randy too lolI just texted Randy, I’ll let ya‘ll know. He won’t respond til tomorrow. Cell stays in car when he’s home to late for tonight
The vector is a shit box compared to his cyclones, lolI feel like we could definitely boost some Hallett sales, that’s for sure. I’ll build one for Randy too lol
Double that is my bet.Hull only? 40?
Ya but the Vector is a waaaayyy better looking hotrodThe vector is a shit box compared to his cyclones, lol
ya, buuuut the cyclone bottom with the wells top is pretty frikin sexyYa but the Vector is a waaaayyy better looking hotrod
It’s cool, but not the classic river hotrod lookya, buuuut the cyclone bottom with the wells top is pretty frikin sexy
Probably more.Hull only? 40?
Good possibility you might get banned for saying that on RDP lolYou guys got me thinking I should build a crossover between a Cyclone/ 24 Schiada and a Vector. Honestly, the Vaughn with a different deck would be cool.
The Vector has the best looking deck in the 21 size.
I messaged the guy first. He called me and couldn’t come up with a price, said he’d call me back shortly. Hit me back saying he had a ridiculous offer and I said I was gonna pass.
