Ran into this guy at the dock yesterday while in my 210 and started chatting. His 210 is a 2000 running an, I believe he said, MSA surface drive and a 502. Is never seen a drive like this. I guess it runs a bravo prop. Boat also has a different dash. I’m some of the ski race guys around here have some info on it. I just thought it was cool!

I looked at that boat long and hard and thought about picking it up but my new schiada motor is breaking the retirement bank. It's a very cool one off piece and the MSA surface drive is pretty proven around the world. I don't know how easy it would be to get parts in the US but there is definitely support around. I researched it a little when I first saw the boat go on the market And it's a solid piece spec wise. It's also cool because it uses a standard bravo prop. I don't think it will handle a shit ton of horsepower but up to about 600 given the weight of the boat is what I came up with Max. He definitely stole the thing. It went cheap. It is pretty damn perfect too. Definitely a nice one off float.

I wanna know how it runs!
He said he's been playing with the set up. Just added those tabs the day before and said it really settled it down. When he picked it up it would only run 50. I shit you not he added one of Steve's Whammy plates and instantly put it at 60. Maybe Steve was onto something 😆. He says he's hoping for 80 out of it ultimately. Nice guy and you can tell he's having fun playing with the setup.

nice chatting with you yesterday!
I’ll drop a few photos below of the boat out of the water. I’ll also attach some photos of the plate I fabricated that took the boat from 50mph to 69mph…. not quite a whammy plate, but similar LOL.

MSA’s website states the drive is good for 950 foot pounds and 6000rpm depending on the application. I spoke with a gentleman who has one in the UK… similar hull and he’s making somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 horse and has put hundreds of hours of abuse on it. So far I’m digging the thing. Martin sand the owner of MSA is super responsive and helpful, but I’m sure trying to get replacement parts is going to be a PITA.

Great taking with you as well! Yes that’s much better than the whammy plate for sure! Can’t wait to see you get her dialed in!

Dang, that's a batman looking drive set-up. Super cool that you're tying it out!

I saw him pulling down into Riviera as I was pulling out, noticed the scoop then the drive.

Is the prop shaft inline with the engine crank? Or is there some sort of drop down gearset/shaft to get the prop lower?
