Ok. I don't know what wrong with the truck itself. That's another story.

Anyhow. It won't start. I'm in big bear. It's snowing and raining. I call Ford. I have a three year unlimited mile warranty they added for the new motor. They say my roadside assistance is gone, but if it's a motor problem they will reimburse me. So they give me a great rate. 175 dollars from Big Bear to Redlands Ford. Cool. I give them my CC. Set it up. Done.

Guy shows up at like 1am three hours later. Two Vatos tattooed from head to toe with a flat bed. What do I care. The fucked is insured. I figure the worst is I never see it again. He says man it's raining. Cold. Etc etc. he will probably drop it off when they open in the am. Ok. What do I care? I'll call Redlands in the am and see if they got it.

I wake up late. I'm tired as fuck. I notice a voicemail. Listen to it. It's the dispatch for the towing company. She says I need to call if I want my truck delivered to the dealer. I'm like wtf????

So I call. She says I owe one nights storage. And a tow out from their yard to the Ford dealership. I say where's your yard??? She says Victorville and the tow out is 220 dollars plus storage.

Are you fucking kidding me?? Why didn't you tell me that last night? I would have called in the morning and had you take it straight to the dealer!!!!! I tell her she's scamming me. She's like sorry. When you want to give us a cc we can run it to the dealer for you.

Tow Masters is the name of this shithole btw.

So I call Ford. I ask for a supervisor right away. Explain the "scam" and that I paid in full the night before to have the truck delivered to the dealer. She's like I'll make some calls. You aren't incurring any extra costs.

At the end of the day it gets delivered to Redlands but not until 2:30. So I lost an entire day and I'm stuck here waiting for my truck.

Rant over. Don't trust Tow Masters.

Not trying to rub salt in a wound but do you carry AAA? Hundred miles is like 100-150 a year with RV and trailer added on.

Edit-

Sounds like you're right. I'm sure the company just stores the vehicle and unless someone like Ford,Chevy, dodge etc calls them they just stick the consumer with the charge

I have the 7 mile plan. I called them too. They said I could upgrade. Which I will. But it would take effect for 7 days.

Maybe the take away from this story is that since we know nothing is really going to get done in the middle the the night by the dealer just schedule the tow for first thing in the morning. I understand why you would try to get all your ducks lined up the night before thinking that you are expediting the process, but I am going to learn from you experience and go with the turtle beats the hare in this situation. Schedule first pick up in the morning and basically follow it to the dealer....

I wonder if you can dispute the charges with your CC company. U paid them to tow the car to Redlands and they took it to victorville. Then they held you hostage. Since you willing paid them the second time you probably can't despite it but I would definitely dispute the first charge for not taking the car to the agreed upon location. They probably know ford is gonna pay for it so they figure u don't care. I would fight them out of principal.

With that ford you prolly want aaa premier (200 miles one tow, and 3 100 mile tows) 150.00 per year, just saying :)

Wouldn't Good Sams be the best option here? used to have it when I had a boat/RV, now that I don't, I've been wondering what to get. Its about $89.00 per year I think and unlimited range to next dealership

Another vote for AAA Premier, if you are farther than 100 miles from home, reimbursement for lodging, rental car. (1) 200 mile tow, (3) 100 mile tows for each hard holder on the account. Locksmith reimbursement for your home and vehicle, free gas unlimited, free jumps unlimited, and free flat changes etc. I have everything, RV, Motorcycle, Trailer for $159 a year for me and my girl.

You can't beat it if you travel a lot.

^^^^This. Also, I'm close to Redlands Ford if you need me to check on your tools or anything. All-in-all a pretty good dealership, if there is such a thing:grumble:Let me know if you need anything

Lol. I should just buy a tow truck.[/QUOTES]

Make sure it's a che

Since your sitting in Big Bear. I would first start with a call to the owner of the tow company, tell him you are going to file a complaint with the CHP, Better Business, Bureau and anything else you can come up with. I'd tell him the guys said since it's cold outside they wanted to know if it was okay to drop the truck in the am, not store and charge you. You thought you were doing the guys a favor not screwing yourself. Now since you have had to call Ford and everyone else if he wants to forget he can credit your card back the $175. FUCK THAT PLACE, then get on yelp and write your story, last call the dealership and speak to the service manager and tell him what happen. Maybe they will stop using this assclowns company all together.

It's an additional $220, or the rate went from $175 up to $220, so $45 more?

Additional 220 plus storage. So additional 260.

I didn't pay it. I think Ford ended up covering it since I paid them to pick it up and take it to the nearest dealer. They tried to get it out of me first. What they did do however is hold my truck hostage and cost me an extra day.

I need to get home and get to work. I'm just waiting to see if I need a rental or not.

Andy I'm in Placentia now.

Well.... We would feel bad, but you bought another ford, after you fried the motor on your last ford, which you probably fried the motor on this ford.

Hope that makes sense for ya :p

from what i see on google for this company, they are probably a one truck operation, pictures online dont even show co name or dot info on truck. yelp brings up nothing also.
Wonder if that is one of the tow companies that decided to charge a crazy amount of money ($1000?) when they towed all thoes cars that burned on the 15 freeway about 2 years ago?

These tow companies are shady as an old oak tree, and too bad Andrew if you get offended, LOL

Very close friends own one of the oldest tow companies in Upland and service UPD, CHP etc etc, dudes are loaded.

My buddy parked his new Ford Truck at the Ontario Mills a couple of weeks ago, we picked him up and carpooled to a golf course, he parked in one of 25K available parking spots and when we returned the truck had been towed. Called Ontario PD asked WTF dispatcher said Edwards called to have it towed. Towed it to some shit hole in Montclair, $454.00, it's 3:45 and the fat ass beaner says better get here by 4 or it's $908.00 in the morning. We make it, bail the truck out. My buddy let it go and chalked it up to him not reading the tiny sign on the east side of the Mills Mall. I called my buddy and asked about the charges, he said extreme but it's what it is.

Dirty dishonest business IMO

In Andrews defense he said had I called him he would have handled it for me. I trust him and he could have gotten it done in the morning for me.

Towing is still the wild west. Brea towing on the other hand is a great operation and they know me by name. I love AAA+ and hate BMW lol

Like all they did was turn the key? Did they at least replace a fuse or something?

Hey Now I kinda resemble that remark,

Most towing companies are pushing the limits of bad faith to the line of criminal actions, Having a car towed is kind of like dropping your car off for service, unless you get and agree to a written estimate you are not responsible for the fee's. Sorry they tried to screw you, I hear about it everyday, We pick up cars at other tow yards and the fee's are truly a rip off, $1200 tow bill for a 5 mile tow on a car that runs...

AAA's absolutely not a guarantee. Active Towing in Needles...... read about the ordeal on Yelp, and don't EVER use them. Check who AAA refers you to.... before it goes bad.
