So I took the trailer out for the first time to the desert....first off, I didnt want to wait for the dealer to fix the entry handle, so I replaced it myself with one of those electronic keypad locks, but the door is such a pain in the ass to close (was like that from the factory, I think thats why the tumblers fell out from slamming it), well the new handle has a plastic handle on the inside, my wife broke that off the first day trying to slam the door shut...we get to the desert, and the medicine cabinet in the bathroom was on the floor and broken to pieces...so yay, have to clean mirror glass shards from the floor....fuel gauge doesnt work, so no idea how much fuel I have all week...pipe under sink came loose, leaked water everywhere...but the worst part, is the generator wouldn't run any heavy load, it worked for maintaining the batteries, which is the only thing that saved us, but anytime we tried to use an appliance of any kind, it would shut down and throw a #14 code, so a whole week out there and we couldnt run the air, heater, microwave, coffee pot, nothing...luckily we had friends there that helped with coffee and heating up food that we couldnt do in the oven...

Now get this, last time I called Genesis, they told me I had to go through the dealer, so today I call the dealer and they tell me that I would have to go straight to Genesis...so I call Genesis, earliest they can get me in is 12/18, they said it would take a couple of days to fix most of it, but that they don't do generator work it has to go through Onan...I call Onan, and they said they have not got caught up after the UAW strike and they are 2 months out....I guess there goes our Christmas and New Year trips...

Did I say somewhere that I miss my old Weekend Warrior???

For the generator issue, buy a $40 carb on Amazon, should solve your problem. You could always bring a portable gen too.

As for the generator not powering. Did the dealer not run it during your walk through?

Yes, generator worked fine previously, starts right up, no issues...our first time out we took it to a campground with plug ins for everything, but I purposely didn't hook up to anything the first two days, wanted to make sure the generator worked, how well the solar kept the batteries maintained, the waterpump worked, etc....then the next two days I hooked up just to make sure everything worked that way as well....we have owned it since April of this year, every month on schedule I start the generator, turn on both AC's and let it run for about an hour...so the generator issue is something that just started happening on this trip, and it still fired right up, would run for hours with just light loads like the lights and stuff, just wouldnt run any heavy load...would shut down and throw code #14 which researching means "over frequency", my buddy wanted to start tearing into it, but I was worried about warranty issues so we didnt.

Wow! I can’t even believe all the issues you had on your first trip. I would take it back to Genesis and get all the other stuff fixed. Borrow a portable generator from a friend and keep your Christmas/ New years trips. Take to Onan next year.

This was just our first desert boondocking trip, we have taken it to a few campgrounds previously... yeah we are thinking about doing that, the guy at Genesis told me he would have the mirror, door, fuel gauge, and other little things fixed by 12/21, so we should be good, besides the Xmas trip is a campground and we can plug in...but New Year is back in the desert and we are thinking of just that, borrowing or renting a portable generator.

Took the trailer to the Cummins factory approved shop (Giant RV in Wildomar)....they had the trailer for a week, and called me up said all fixed, it was just a adjustment to the governor...brought it home, tried it out at the house, everything seemed fine....took it out to the desert this weekend, and wouldnt you know it....fires right up, runs ok, but this time it would just shut down randomly...sometimes it would run until I was ready to shut it off, other times it would only run for a few minutes and shut itself down.....it was about 50/50...at least before I took it to get "fixed" it would only shut down after a heavy load was turned off....but now it just shuts off at any given time....smh....so now I got to make another appt and take in AGAIN.....

I havent done anything, the trailer is not even a year old and its still under warranty, I was told if I start messing with things myself that it could void the warranty....

That’s BS how would they know? I’ve had to fix the the clogged carb and the stalling after a large load shuts off. It’s easy.

Keep in mind you can learn more about these Generators from the internet than most of the technicians know.
Also they don’t give a shit if your generator stops running during a camping trip. It just needs to run for 5 minutes when you pick it up.

Yea that whole principle thing is true. But trust me nobody is going to teach the dealers a lesson they give 2 shits.

Fix it yourself or pay a couple hundred to have it done.

Obviously if it’s major you have to go through dealer bull shit.

But I figured to drop my trailer off at the dealer and pick it up I’m at almost $200 in fuel plus time. So anything under $500 is better off just doing it out of pocket and getting it over with.

Interesting, mine makes that popping noise occasionally, but has not fully failed on me…. My trailer only has a motor on one side. I should probably grab a spare one of these days, I’ve been wanting to add a motor to the other side, do I need the whole landing gear assembly or can I just add a motor to my existing one?

From what I read these are the go to jacks.

Dual motors 12k capacity.

I had the dual Lippert motors think they are 4000 or 4500 capacity.

I would ditch the single motor asap and upgrade.
I did some more looking at mine and found the teeth in the leg stripped.

You can have my old stuff for $100 but you would need a second switch and rebuild the one. Might as well buy the heavy duty ones at that point.

Moving to something different, or not using as much as planned

We use the shit out of. Kids don’t ride much but we still go out and camp.
We have been to damn near every so cal campground numerous times, Zion 3 times, Grand Canyon twice, riding dozens and dozens of times.

We want out of California and we need to either stop bitching about it or put our money where our mouth is.

Camping has ran its course for the time being and our vacations going forward will be visiting places we would potentially move to, so this RV is not needed and it will free up money for property.
