This is entertaining, but my head is kind of spinning at the same time.

Observations/ Questions
Has Fuckstick tried a different prop?
How come the carpenters have a nicer welding shop than the ironworkers?
Have we found the real definition of hustle yet?
I'd be willing to make $100 being an umpire on Sundays.
I don't know if I'm getting richer or poorer being a rodbuster.
Why does anyone really care whom is installing drywall?
Yes.

I remember growing up my dad said, "make sure you make atleast $20 an hour"

So does McDonalds have a union?

Your deleted post is far more interesting than this one. lol
Either one says the same thing. You can post it up if you want. The issue is I erased it and it came up as a double post. I believe the only item changed was that the apprentice I receive are as talented as someone from People Ready.
I’m not even sure why you think it’s necessary to bring it up but post it and let’s see if anyone gets offended. Nothing I stated changed.

I actually hope you have it saved. Waiting for you to post it if you actually think I’m talking shit on unions. There’s a reason you grabbed a spoon in an attempt to stir the pot.

Can you get some training together once you retire at 45 to teach these “expert” union 6010 brazer/installers how to work and understand medGas piping!!
These fucksticks i gotta work with at times still can’t figure it out and they all say i been doing it for 20-30 years blah blah. Dont get me started on Pan pacific and murray company guys 🤦🏽‍♂️

And this is where 2 different definitions of hustle come into play.

Neither one’s right or wrong but both sides gotta respect the other.

Not directed at anyone just a fact.
Exactly this but I feel the majority of the time it’s very one sided. I feel you either get the guys in the union that wish they did something else but now it’s too late or you get the cult type and it’s like having a conversation with a Biden voter.

If you are working and a contributing member to society, I will give you respect. I don’t expect everybody to have the hustle of a business owner. There is a reason there is owners and employees because it’s not for everyone. As long as you are not living on the system for a free ride, I could give two shits to be honest. Do what you feel is best for you and your family and enjoy life. 🤙

At the delegates meeting now. Introducing a new HRA fund. 50 cents an hour. Another dollar to annuity, dollar to the hourly, and .25 to pension. Forget where the rest went but it check the minutes

Anyone who argues the quality of training the union provides is smoking some good shit. There’s nothing like it.
The on-the-job training I received by being in open shops trumps the training HVAC techs receive in their union by a significant amount. I look at a lot of their service reports and shake my head all the time. Like I've said, it's too specialized and narrow for the amount of equipment and types of equipment we have in the trade.

For electrical idk how anyone can argue against the union training.

Just curious. What Union training center have you been to? Also are you saying Union pipefitters should be hanging duct work and tin knockers hanging pipes.

If I’m reading that number right couldn’t they just put the fund in a savings account at 5-7%?

If it’s like our plan. It’s 59 and a half without penalty.
I forget what age our annuity is, but it used to be if you're out of the union for 2 years you can pull it.

Kinda like the equipment rental business. 🤔😛

You’re not wrong but I negotiate my own yearly contracts and pay scale/bonus structure and would struggle with a union wage and schedule with my lifestyle.

I appreciate the Unions and what they represent and bring to the industry. Some of the most talented individuals I work with are union contractors.

There’s no right or wrong answer.

Both have their strengths/weaknesses. The union life just isn’t what “scratches my itch” professionally if that makes sense? I like my autonomy and not be held to the same wealth as my co-worker.

At the end of the day you can make a crazy good living $$ for your family in the union and provide an amazing life for your family like Vic and yourself have done. I meant no disrespect with my earlier post.

I'm talking about the product of such training. The centers may be great, but the product they put out is lacking in MANY ways.

And yes, there should be intermixing in the HVAC trade. They work hand in hand far too much to ignore one half of the trade like they do. To truly be an effective tech, you need to have sheetmetal knowledge and experience as well. I can't tell you how many calls I went to that had numerous previous techs that missed the diagnosis cause the root cause was actually air side. I've seen the inverse as well. They aren't trained to understand the other side.

Great post 👍 No disrespect taken. You know my good friend and old neighbor Larry Hutchinson used to tell me some great stories about the rental business. 🍺🍺 He is now retired and living in Tennessee.

Dont shoot the messenger, but here's some facts:

What Vic is saying is true - the members don't pay much, if at all. Dues are a paltry $20 per month out of the worker's pocket, to be in the Carpenter's Union.
The majority of dues are paid by the companies who employ the workers - they must pay $$$ to multiple categories for each man hour worked.

Here's what a contractor must pay the Union in Northern California for employing union Carpenters - Fringe benefits by man hour:

Aside from that - here's their Hourly income, on the check:
2023 Carpenters wage / rate card (Northern California)

For a career working with their hands and not owning their own business, these guys do just fine . . .

For all the bragging about how much Union guys make I expected much more.

If I remember correctly he sold the boat because his mom needed the funds for something.

On another note both of your hustles are totally different types and I don't think either one of you is better than the other or works harder than the other. You both have totally different ways of supporting your families and neither is a walk in the park.

Wow, hitting below the belt. 😁

I have owned two business. one in retail and the other as a contractor. Both over the span of almost two decades. The hustle is real for those in business.

After two decades self employed I was burnt out. in 2014 took a W2 gig and no regrets. As I get older I value my time off as much as income.

I honestly couldn’t care less about Dave’s hustle or how he makes money. He came in here and said I have no hustle. Everything I have I’ve busted my ass for. I’m not going to pull any punches for someone that’s going to try to take a shot at me I’ll fire right back. It was just way too funny to see that drunk fb live video at the same time 😂😂 now I’ve got a full day of baseball. Headed down to Elsinore in a bit for a travel ball tournament
