Six-year-old GSP, She hasn’t had much training if any. She is a bit of an escape artist and needs a yard with at least a good fence. She likes to chase birds. She weighs around 53 pounds.

She belongs to an 83 year old Havasu neighbor who just can’t give her the time and exercise she needs.

If anybody’s interested, contact me and I’ll put the parties together. Thanks for looking.

Best dog we’ve had. They’re definitely a handful the first 18mos. After that it’s regular exercise and lots of attention. Great around people and other pets.

Tell me more about escape artist, we have 2 now, 1 female 12 year old and 1 male 7, live on 2.5 acres with lots to chase, birds gophers, lizards, squirrels.
The owners wife was suffering from Alzheimer’s, she passed this year and would let the dog out and then she would chase birds.
I would have her over to play with my two labs, but she was able to get over the fence by climbing on top of a table. The current owner has fairly well dog proofed his backyard. I think most of the fence is 5 to 6 feet tall. Most of her escapes have been through human error. A door left open or gate left open. (Pool man).

This is the third GSP they have owned, He just can’t keep up with her anymore and would like to see the dog go to an appropriate home. I would consider taking her myself, but the way my yard is set up. My dogs have never jumped out, but there’s a section of wall near the pool. That’s only about 3 feet tall. My dogs look over the wall, but never leave.

I think she could be a good dog with some training unfortunately, my neighbor has been taking care of his wife for the last several years.

If nobody takes her maybe find a foster family
That's what my family does. We are a foster for a golden Retriever rescue.

If needed, we would go that route but he’s going to keep it until he finds a home for it and if something were to happen to him, I will make sure the dog is cared for. Might have to put some temporary fencing up, but it’s not going to the pound.

IMG_3136.jpeg

This sweet girl has found a new home.

@RiverDiva contacted me this morning and said a member/lurker was interested. I forwarded his contact information to the owner and she has a new home with a couple of acres to run and roam.

Thank you to the members who contacted me with interest, I hope you’re not disappointed. We just wanted the dog to have a good home. Thank you, everyone.

Dog definitely needs to run and needs training.

I'd take her, but my female Doberman is a super alfa dog. Her house only.

GSP'S have incredible energy and even a six foot fence is no match to some dogs. Sometimes the only cure is install rollers on top of the fence line so the dog can't get hold to leverage and go over. My 6 year old hops up my 4 ft retaining wall with ease.

Jack, my 8 year old leaps to the couch from 10 feet away, turns in the air and lands seated like a person. He has never shown the want to jump our 6 foot fence, but if he wanted to, he'd do it just for fun.

Not sure if it's a solution here but one of the best things I've done with Huck is put in a wireless fence, Boy has hound in him and wants to follow his nose.
Sure hope that good looking dog finds a family.

I've had good success stopping jumping dogs w/ a 8" long standoff mounted to fence posts with a 10ga. Wire run thru a hole near the end. Prevents them from reaching the top of the fence and pulling themselves over. They can be welded to wrought iron fence posts or bolted to wood/vynil posts etc.

I would bet a companion dog would help keep that dog from trying to escape. This dog needs at least an hour of high effort exercise twice daily to help calm it down and be happy.
