I’ve been kind of stewing on this all day, not wanting to be an asshole. Jumping over the fence was not an issue to my knowledge, not what was told to the original owner for reason of return.
The person who adopted the dog was also older, and I don’t believe anticipated the energy level and lack of training.

If anyone’s interested in adopting, PM me and I will give more details to the story. Thanks Tom

I would bet a companion dog would help keep that dog from trying to escape. This dog needs at least an hour of high effort exercise twice daily to help calm it down and be happy.
Agreed on the companion dog. That and getting it used to the environment before letting it off leash even in a backyard. Our last dog was a Jack Russell. Great dog but a pain in the ass and runner in 2 different houses. He completely changed when we put a dog door in. Giving him the option to go in and out as he pleased was a win/win.
Our GSP gets a short 1/2 mile walk every morning that I’m home. I do let him off leash for half and he runs his ass off. He blows off steam the second time after dinner. Throw a ball for 5-20 minutes and then he’s done. More work than most but not horrible.

I think she would do great in another home with a companion dog, she gets along well with my two dogs. When we visit, she sleeps good after we’ve left.

Whoever takes this girl needs to be an experienced dog person and know this breed and what they are getting into!

This isnt Costco. Poor dog keeps getting kicked out and returned.

I havent owned this breed, but even I know that they are high energy!

Such cool dogs!

send her to Ca GSP rescue, they have a great program and will determine a good fit for her. I can assure you our next one will come from them and possibly her. Don't recall, is she spayed?

I don't think I would have been able to keep the stray female Heeler that showed up at my house last year had it not been for my very very chill male Terrier. If she is anywhere by herself, she does whatever she can to escape (jump through the screen of an open window, dig under the fence, find a hole in the fence, etc.) She has had separation anxiety when her human leaves from day 1, but with him around she does not have the desire to go anywhere. Good luck finding her the right home @DRYHEAT

Was going over this thread again just thought I’d bump it, apparently I didn’t answer your question from before. Yes, she is spayed.

**Bump** this sweet girl is still available if anybody’s interested for a challenge. For those questioning, the fence yard she’s in has a wall that’s about 5 feet maybe 5 1/2.

She is an opportunistic escape artist. If a table or chair is left next to a wall, she uses it as a takeoff ramp to jump the fence.

Escapes that have occurred lately are due to human error, not being aware where the dog is at when opening a door.

She is still at home with the original owner, he doesn’t really want to put her in a rescue, but he doesn’t have the energy to match her needs.

Acre and a 1/4 in Bakersfield. 2 yr old lab at home. Surrounded by orchards. If no one says yes.
