Me either but when mine goes I think I'm going there or BTS

You can't have 300k on stock transmission I lost my first at 130 second at 200k. I'm hoping with the 6.0 cooler it will live better

According to all records one was replaced at 150k with a HD ford tranny. And yes I have that upgraded cooler on mine as well. I have done everything possible to this beast.

One of my drywall subs got 435k on his original 4r100 in his 01 7.3 service truck. He takes care of his truck and doesnt beat it. I swear he polishes it every week.

The HD Ford tranny is a good unit. I believe they upgrade the torque converter on that one. Dad has over 100k on his and still runs great.

You running a tuner and towing? The main issue with the 4r100 is heat, Ford set those trannies up to shift beyond smooth, and that means lots of heat. You can get a tune to adjust line pressure and shift points a little, nowhere as good as they can do with the 5r and up, but it helps. 6.0 tranny cooler, a hd convertor and some increased line psi will help and wont break the bank.

also call hypermax in illinois if you want to hop up your 7.3....No one is more 7.3 knowledgeable then those fellers.

My 02 just turned 100k miles, I've had the Banks Trans Command on it since day one. They firm up/quicken the shifts and the torque converter lockup. Hoping that'll make my trans live versus a stock trans. The fluid is never dirty, but gets changed anyway, and the trans temp gauge on the dash has never moved above center (if it does, your trans is already done IMO).

Well I got the f5 Dp tuner. I got the banks cold air intake and I got the black diamond exhaust. I do change my oil every 5k and fuel filter every 10k

When I had the second built I told the shop I wanted the cooler upgraded. They put an auxiliary. It would normally run with load at 190-200ish. Last transmission I put on the 6.0 cooler and it never gets above 170

Summertime towing in western PA (hellacious grades) about 7-8,000 lbs i usually see no more than 160 degrees with the 31 row 6.0 cooler and a mag hytec tranny pan which puts the fluid total to something like 30 quarts. I am also running amsoil fluid.

Around town driving i usually see about 100 degrees

Edit: looks like i already made this same post awhile back in this thread :D

Nice. I've done afe intake, dp tuner, up pipes, 4" exhaust, stage 1 single shots, 38r turbo, modded hpop, regulated return, have the mag oil pan and rear, titan fuel tank, 6.0 cooler, aluminum bigger radiator, Detroit in the butt, 4.30 gears(wish I would've done 4.10) traction bars, bags with on board air, day star cradles, redhead steering box, and hi output alternator. I love this dinosaur[emoji106]

I am also very interested in ICON VEHICLE DYNAMICS 5" kit. Anyone have and opinions or supporting facts on either one? Maybe some photos of their lifted rig?

THE EXCURSION IS LIFTED!

I must say I saved some money by doing a custom hybrid kit, but it was still way to much! I am very please with the end product. It drives like it is suppose to. Here is how I did it.

Atlas 3" progressive leaf pack front, Atlas 2.5" expedition leaf pack rear, Carli suspensions track bar drop bracket, Carli suspensions front sway bar end links, Carli suspensions extended pitman arm, Carli suspensions front steering stabilizer, Icon vehicle dynamics adjustable track bar, Icon vehicle dynamics dual shock mount, Icon vehicle dynamics 1" front bump stop drop, PMF suspension stainless brake lines, PMF suspension 2.5" boxed lift block, Hellwig products rear sway bar, redhead steering gears steering box, Dynatrac ball joints. I still need to purchase and install the Carli suspension rear frame mount bump stop bracket. I used fox 2.0 shocks.

wheels are methods NVs, and the BFG KO2s are 315/75R17. So far I have observed no rubbing issues. It comes close to the leafs but I have not hit them.

Dang the 510, that truck looks great!

I like you kept the running boards and molding. The rims and the height are perfect.

Don't mess it up with those ugly square F250 mirrors!

Are you a member of Ford Truck Enthusiasts (FTE) Excursions forums? I didn't see your project over there, but I'm sure it would be well-received.

What's the consensus on the V10?? See lots of those for sale around my parts along with lots of reasonably priced diesels

On the way up to Havasu this weekend the I40 was completely shut down going both directions. The wife and noticed some off road trails on our GPS. We both figured we have a lifted excursion. So we hit the dirt at 5 mile road. Another SUV had the same idea. We basically paralleled the train tracks on a access road all the way to Park Moabi. Some pretty big hills, and a little bit of silt. We were pretty excited because we by passed all the road closures and got to off road!

Anyways today we took the rig and family up to oatman. I've always wanted to check it out. I've heard there is a lot of "ass" up there.

Sounds like a fun trip. Got any details on the trails you took?

Got off on 5 mile road. Took a right at the exit and then made an immediate left onto a marked trail. Went a few miles, but it got a little to intense. Back tracked back to 5 mile road. Made a right went over the bridge. The only option is to turn left onto the 40 or to go straight into the dirt. We went straight. Took the path towards the river/railroad tracks. Once we hit the tracks we followed what was mostly fire roads all the way to Park Moabi.
