FML. So I've been having some issues lately. Check engine light coming on randomly. Then a couple of weeks ago a ticking noise. Not a rod knock bit different. I take it to Bradley Ford. They advise me that the noise is internal. So out comes the motor. A skirt broke on number 4. Cylinder is scored. I need a fucking short block. Kicker is it's literally 2k out of warranty.

I'm hoping for some assistance from Ford since I've owned 4 new trucks in the past ten years and warranty is so close. If not I'm looking at a pretty hefty fucking bill.

So much for loving this motor and truck. Do yourselves a favor and get the extended warranty if you have one of these. [emoji107]🏽

You have had some pretty substantial issues with that truck.

The drive shaft deal was scary...I think the motor issues could be related;)

Be persistent with the outside CS MGR, I'd be shocked if they don't cover it so close to the warranty. Have u ever complained about this type of issue b4 the warranty was up?

You know it's been pretty trouble free. Randomly I'd get a CEL when I filled up, thinking its a vent issue, because it would clear itself after two or three starts.

The tapping went on for a couple of weeks before I had time to get it in. And it still drove fine. It's s V6 so miss fires are obvious, it didn't miss.

Couldn't there have been some bad vibration from the drive-shaft that was transferred somehow into the motor via the crank? I know I would be pressing pretty hard for them to 100% cover it and then extend my warranty. I would be bringing up all of the trouble you have had with the truck and let them know that if they don't fix this fast you are going to seek counsel for opinions.

I went back and looked at it. Asked the mechanic how many of these he's seen and of course it's the first one.

Interesting that they pull the cab to take the motor out. My truck is literally a pile of parts.

Ok. Good choice of words. On tomorrow's daily call to Ford I'll throw those in.

So you have had issues with this that COULD attribute to this problem? If so I'd do like Brandon said, ride them hard and if that don't work involve outside council, but IMO Ford Corp Cust. Service will step in if they have been notified and cover this.

I really didn't consider the rear end failure. But I am now. I'd be happy if they bought it back at this point.

Bummer, this is the first big problem I've ever heard with an ecoboost, I honestly think you just got unlucky this time.

I'll do some research and find a number.

Tell the Service Manager at the dealer that has the truck to give you the name and number, trust me they have it, this ain't the first time they have had to involve this person. I'm shocked he/she hasn't suggested this already to you, that CS MGR is the one that makes the call to cover or not.

Write Ford a letter and an explanation give them the service advisors name and contact I bet you they warranty it . similar thing happened to a buddy on a Navigator, they fixed it under warranty and then he sold it LOL

Damn Paul, sorry to hear buddy. Bad luck strikes again. And you thought your problems were gone when you sold the 6.0. My friend has an Eco boost, I'm gonna forward this to him. They should take care of you on that, when someone is that brand loyal they should reward that on something that close

I'll bet they step up due to your purchase history and only being 2k past warranty. If Ford has done all the service work then that's an even bigger plus.

Nope neighbor kid had the same thing happen just out of warranty but before he took it to Ford he rented a truck swap his cluster took it to someone one turn the mileage back. Mileage was good to go towed truck to ford. Ford replace long block. Had to jump through a lot of hoops but got it done

OD1, sorry to hear of your misfortune. My truck is a 2014 and did some crawling underneath it, after reading about vibration, on the Ecoboost forum.
My Super Crew has the short 5.5 bed. I assume my drive shaft is shorter than the 6.5 or 8' bed models and has no vibration at the moment. However, I crawled under the 2015 Ecoboost models at the dealership and found all of them now have the energy absorbing damper attached to the tailpiece of the transfer case. My 03 Navigator had a similar damper on its case and was smooth as butter at all times and rpm ranges. I think Ford heard a lot of complains about drive line vibration and did the mod to the 2015 models. Service writer at the dealership I bought the truck from is checking into TSB's if there's an upgrade available for the older models. If a piston skirt broke, it could have been caused by oil injector failure to cool the piston. Bummer

How is this possible on a new vehicle?
The odometer data isn't stored in the cluster...?

So I should just go get my instrument cluster from the dealership and swap it out? Lmao.

The milage is stored in the computer. Even if a cluster was replaced with a lower milage one , milage could only be erased from the computer by Ford IMO.

We have a standard v6 non ecoboost 2015 f150 at work and it has 12k miles and a pretty noticeable ticking noise.

From what I have read those motors are notoriously noisy with direct injection.

I'll do some research and find a number.
General number is 800 392-3673,
I played the loyal customer card as well when my 6.0 blew 2 months out of warranty but under the mileage.... (3) f150s and 2 PSD's in 10 years.... they didn't give two shits. Talked to an attorney about mine and really only recourse for you would be lemon law but basically needs to be in the shop more than 15 days for a single issue or same part fails 3 times...

Did you buy the truck at Bradley? If so the dealer has X amount of Factory goodwill they can pass onto loyal customers for repairs. Frank

No but I bought my Raptor there.
