I have never ordered a truck. Do you pay in full when you order or just a deposit?

I probably need to wait until January to order so the truck don’t come in before my bonus does. Kinda need to time it around that.

I just gave them $500 down to order. I ordered just before Thanksgiving and it arrived February 10th.

With supply issues still it may run long. Finance the thing for a month or 2 if you have to.

Go through Costco referral, some dealers are below MSRP in this plan, I believe Caruso Ford in Long Beach is one.

Pretty much how my FIL did it. Deposit, order was made. They did all the docs by fed-ex. When I went to pick it up I called him on FaceTime and did a walk around with the dealer rep. He wired the balance and that was that. Super super easy deal.

If you order now you will be lucky to get it by March.

I would assume it depends on the dealer - I have never paid anything until the truck arrives.

500.00 deposit-When the truck arrives, you buy it, or get your deposit back.

My wife don’t ask for much. She only asks for no payment on cars. It would be wise for me to listen lol.
I financed some of the jeep and I’m still hearing about it.

7.3, 4.30 I get about 10-11 around town, 15 ish on the freeway. 8-9 towing a12.5k trailer. Tows really nice. I wouldn't shy away from F250 with 3.73 either. 10 speed trans is bitchin'.

Some dealer want a good faith deposit, others don't care. ~$1k seems to be the norm. And has been said, the deposit is fully refundable and is in no way part of a binding agreement for you to buy the truck.
The idling thing is an issue - from a poster elsewhere.
Must have been something wrong with those trucks. My build was from H2 2020 and is really smooth. High idle at startup, then starts purring. I am a member of some Ford forums and "rough idle" is not something that really ever comes up.

Best I have ever got with my 12k 5er is 8MPG (hand calc') and that was being ridiculously gentle on flat ground.

Regarding the rear end, there are 2 different rear axles that they put in these things. A Sterling and a Dana. The Dana is stronger and the one they couple to the Powerstroke. My F-250 7.3/4.30 Tremor came with the Dana. I am not sure if that is a Tremor specific thing or comes with the 7.3/4.30. I know for certain it doesn't come with the 3.73's and the gas motor on the F-250.

If you aren't getting a Tremor and can manage the extra length, the long bed is worth it just for the larger fuel tank. The standard bed comes with a 37 gallon tank. At 7MPG, that puts you at around 220 miles of range with a little reserve... which blows.

Dana comes with the 7.3 4.30 gas. The other gas ratios are Sterling.
Yep, gas tank is small. I did read yesterday someone is bringing an auxiliary tank for the short bed crew cab. 60 gallons, $2000.

That is only true for the 7.3. 6.2s all get Sterling.

Also, regarding the aftermarket tank size, the company is Transfer Flow and they have only committed to > 45 gallons and it will be north of $2k, plus install. This thread is kept up to date:

Thanks!

XLT or the XLT premium package, I forget.
Sticker was 56k.
Pretty sure its a package (chrome). My FIL didn't want the chrome wheels etc bc of the salt so the door handles are just black plastic in the normal XLT.

Yore right hitit, check out my edit!

Here's what I read yesterday on the FTE forum

I spoke with the product manager at Transfer Flow today asking about their forthcoming replacement GASoline tank. My question was do they know at this point how large it will be. And the answer is?
1f914.png

60 GALLONS! How cool is that?!
1f973.png
1f44d.png

It’ll become available around March and cost around $2000.
It’s only available for the F-250/350 SHORT BED. It won’t fit in the long bed, she said.
Nearly doubles the 34 gallon pathetically small OEM tank. Heck, my Tundra had 38 gallons! Looking forward to pulling my 11K fiver all day without stopping for gas until we get to our first day destination. Then I can unhook and fill up without the stress of finding a gas station while hooked up. I don’t have a problem maneuvering around the pumps, but sometimes it’s just too challenging due the layout or if it’s really crowded.
That you all would like an update!

Seems like that would not be hard to do since the 60 gallon tanks for the short bed diesels exist already.

One thing that kinda sucks about the XLT package is that the only way to get the 8" instrument cluster (I am not talking about the entertainment display in the center) is to get the Ultimate Trailer Tow package or (I think) 360 cameras. I didn't want that shit and the smaller cluster was the only thing that I didn't like about my build. When mine showed up, it has the upgraded cluster. Turns out the XLT Tremors also included the upgraded cluster and I was super excited. Note that Ford dropped the XLT Tremors.

1st post here shows a comparison of the clusters:

that 60 gallon option really opens up the possibilities for one of these in a short bed as my next truck, my driveway won't fit a long bed. Work from home now so don't care about mpg, wife has a hybrid that will be used for road trips where we aren't towing. We have tossed around the idea of getting a larger enclosed trailer (24-26') to expand our offroad toys. Definitely don't need a diesel, but also don't want to push the weight/aerodynamics of an enclosed too much with a 150.

This is a great thread, like the OP I have been browsing gas 3/4 tons, I really like my current ram and I like the new ram interiors as well. The 7.3 in the Ford is making a really strong case and I know the 10 speed is a bad ass transmission. I spec’d a STX f250 long bed for 50k which seems to be the best deal you are going to get, even used STXs are 5k more. I have at least a year until I’m ready to buy but I like to do my research early. Hopefully the 7.3s continue to be solid trucks.

Sorry the fear of loosing my job and having over 100k of toys kind of scared me.
My apologies.
I live with this thought process every minute of every day and while I cant ever be technically fired...it seems having a high Accounts Receivable and a thin bank account is just about the same.

We bought a 2020 f250 for the shop september of last year. I already have an f350 dually diesel for the big, heavy hauling and really needed a smaller truck that can tow most anything but still be reasonable for running errands and parts. We decided on a crew cab, f250 4wd, 7.3l with the 3.73 rear axle. My only gripe is the 27 gallon tank. Otherwise, I love it. As far as the rough idle is concerned, this is what i concluded. It makes 445hp from 7.3l and has a cam with over .600" of valve lift. Not sure of the duration but it has to be significant. It's sort of a hot rod with a slightly lumpy idle! I'm averaging 13.3 mpg which includes towing lots of boats. The ten speed is great but does take some getting used to as it will skip gears when upshifting. During normal acceleration it will go 1,3,5,7 and then consecutively. Just different I suppose. If you take the traction control off and lock the rear axle, you can drift it on dry pavement. This year at desert storm we used it to haul our Hallett 300 down from washington and it did great. We had a head wind coming from Salt Lake all the way to cedar city. That stretch on the 15 has you going up a pass (can't remember what the name is) to about 7000'. We never dropped below 70mph and I had plenty of pedal left. We have just over 21,000 miles on it and so far, it has been great!

2% Under Invoice on New Super Duty order

Hi, everyone My name is Zach and I'm the dealer principal at a Ford dealership in Granger, Iowa. Many of you are familiar with Ford's COVP program, and I view it as a huge opportunity for our store and anyone interested in purchasing a Super Duty truck. We are offering 2% under invoice on any Super Duty truck that is a retail order. There's no catch or gimmick. We view it as a huge opportunity to increase our market share locally and gain business we woldn't have had otherwise. To get a quote started just email a Build & Price from Ford's website to [email protected]

Just a few quick notes (because I know I'll get asked!)

1 - Our documentation fee is $180.
2 - There are NO mandatory add ons.
3 - There is a Non-Refundable $1000 deposit due at order.
4 - We will get you an electronic signature document with options, pricing, and details for your signature before placing the order.
5 - We do not participate in courtesy deliveries to other dealerships.

While, we cannot compete with the size of some Texas truck dealerships, we are the biggest Super Duty dealer in the state of Iowa for 2020. Current wait times for a retail order on a Super Duty are 4-6 months depending on trims and options. We are very familiar with this process as we are the biggest Bronco reservation holding dealership in the country.

We are offering 3% Under invoice pricing on F-150 retail orders as well.

I appreciate the opportunity and would love to be an asset to this community.

Thanks!

Chapman Horsham Ford - Pennslyvania

Anyone have the new 7.3 with 4:30 gears?

What do you tow? how heavy?

MPG? Not that I’m to concerned about it.

Overall impression and would you do it again?

I’m doing research for my next truck.
My first pick is the 7.3 f250
Second is 6.4 Ram 2500

I’m over the hassle of diesels and the crazy cost and potential repair bills.

I text Bobby at Sunrise and he can do MSRP
If I do a custom order.
My build on Fords website was $54,000
Long bed XLT
Is that the best deal available?
I just placed my f250xl crew cab 4x4 long bed order, it's the only way to go right now, a good deal for me was $500 over invoice + friends and family (way less then MSRP), if you want one off the floor expect $10k+ over MSRP, I am told a 90 day wait but it varies on the build, I went fairly bare bones, just heavy duty trans, locking axles etc....so it may get selected quicker as it's a easy build. The 6.2l with 3.73's made the most sense for me as the power difference between the 6.2l and 7.3l is minor and not worth it to me, 6.2l 411hp@434t vs 7.3l 430hp@475t, there is just a chit ton of stuff out there for the 6.2l (boss) that for a few hundred bucks will bring up to and past the power of the 7.3l and keep some sort of mileage am I am not sure of the 10spd auto trans "hunting for gears" nor is strength, normally I am a toss as big a motor in it as you can get, but in this case it actually made no sense to me.

I am not doubting that there were a few trucks with a problem. What I am saying is that it doesn't seem super common or that much of a concern. I think if you sat in mine you would agree that mine doesn't have a rough idle.

I find it hard to believe that Ford would be mass producing an engine that when functioning properly causes people to sell it because it idles too rough.

This is no doubt a great truck - but this isnt particularly impressive.

My 406 = 6.6L small block made more HP and torque and idled at 800RPM with a single 4 bbl.

I hope its not a thing.

Im super interested in this truck myself, but Ford already screwed me once. (well my kid anyway)

This is what people said about the focus transmission.

You could always, ya know, go drive one to find out. The motor has been out for over 2 years and has also been used in fleet/box truck/RV applications and there are certainly quite a few that have racked up some mileage. I haven't heard of that many unusual failures and have been keeping an eye on it because I was terrified of buying a 1st year motor and tranny. To be honest, I am more worried about the trans than the motor. The motor is a stupid simple old school pushrod/iron block/non-direct injection workhorse. They designed it to do work and not necessarily to wow people with power numbers. Sure, they could have fucked something up but this was a pretty low risk design.

Not sure if you are referring to the 6.oh-no fiasco but I would certainly be leery of Ford after going through that.

From what I had heard, the size was potentially going to be limited by the capabilities of the evap system in the gas truck, not real estate.

Yes good point.

My friend has a '21 he took deliver of in March. 12k miles on it, no idle issues. The 10 speed trans is really awesome.

GVWR 10800
15,000 Bumper
19,000 fifth wheel
GCWR 27,000.

Don’t know what trailer yet.
Probably a big bumper pull again. Just not many options for big bumper pulls. I won’t buy Forest River or Eclipse. So that leaves Hearland and Cruiser RV.
I really like the Genesis 27 but that’s kinda small.
I would go with the Godzilla and use the $10K you would save over a 6.7 PSD to get a little nicer trailer. The Godzilla F250 has better Towing and GVWR Numbers than my 2001 F350 7.3L Powerstroke Dually Crewcab that I tow a Genesis Vortex 3817V with no problem. You will however probably want airbags if yore towing heavy with an F250 to keep the ride level. That might be my next truck if I ever wear out my 7.3 PSD 🤩

There are guys at work with them, I really dig what Ive seen.

The trans was co developed with GM and very solid - the tune I dont know but its reported to be good.

Im referring to Ford knowingly putting a junk trans (power shift) in their mid sized cars, they lost a class action suit over it.

The 6.blow is another Ford issue. I know poeple that got screwed even with an extended warranty.

I was very happy with my F150 lightning and SHO taurus, so I'm predisposed to like and want Ford to succeed.

From the charts I’m seeing max 5th wheel towing for a 7.3 4x4 long bed is 16,300-16,900.

A comparable Ram is rated to tow 16,500 - 16,700. Pretty even across the board.

@bldrinker Yes expect to but a set of airbags on it. My friend with a 28' attitude bumper pull needed them on his '21

The one I sold had a 2.5” lift and it barely didn’t make it. So it should make it no problem. Yes it is a concern!

It will fit if you run 35's. I have the ICON 2.5" kit on mine with 35" Ridgegrapplers and it just barely fits. I think the size is perfect.

What's the difference between the 10 speed in the F-150's and the F-250's ?
