anyone have intel on the boat market? It seems that the offroad toy market is at a stand still.... zero action. I know its also seasonal, but I'd say it came to a halt in Jan/ Feb which was still in season. Seeing a lot of people / Facebook friends trying to sell their 2021 & 2022 model RV's. Local RV lots are stacked with inventory and so are the local car lots.

The boat market seems to be doing pretty good honestly. I sold two boats a few months ago and watching the listings on the market things are moving. I feel like as long as the boat is priced somewhat competitively they will move. Those holding out for dam close to what they paid or close to what a new boat will cost are definitely sitting on the market. The offroad market was dead this past season. My buddy who sells boats and sand cars said it was one of his worst sand car seasons in a while. I didn't see many sand cars move. I tried to sell my in laws sand car for actually a really good deal and I barely had any action on it. I feel like the RV Market is also dead. Stuff is sitting for months. There are alot of nice coaches for sale that would be decent upgrades for me but I just put a decent amount of money into mine so the wife would kill me if I tried to get us something new

Sold two years ago for $389k and price lowered to $303k today. The trend is shifting in some area. 🤷‍♂️
2 bedrooms are not very desirable. At $389k, 2 years ago, this was one of the only sub $400k homes available in Havasu.

We got an offer on our TN place yesterday. All cash. A little low ball offer, with nothing but the house. We were hoping we would sell boat, tractor, sxs and furniture with the house. We countered and then he came back with how much do you want for the boat and furniture. We told him last night. We will see where this ends up.

If he buys boat and furniture and comes up 60k on the offer, we should be good. Have a buyer for sxs, but the tractor may be tough. It is probably worth 12-13k but who knows. Guy wants a quick escrow so I am looking for a consignment place to sell the tractor.
Where are you moving to?

Sarasota full time. We currently are in Sarasota for the winter.

Guy came back with an offer that wasn't much better. Told him our final price and haven't heard anything. We went as low as we could and still buy in Sarasota without a mortgage. Haven't had a mortgage in 7 years and not going to get another. Would rather stay in TN for the summer and enjoy it.

Good luck. Great place to spend the summer for sure.

Sand cars are dying. The cost to replace/service stuff and the headache of dealing with ANY fabricator or off-road related business is an absolute nightmare. These guys all operate like they are doing you a favor.

UTV's with easy financing, factory warranty, 4 wheel drive, etc. have pretty much killed the appeal of owning a sand car.

The custom boat market for 2012 or older is suffering big time. Very few lenders will lend on a custom boat over 10yrs old. The ones that do will only go 10yrs. They require a min 10% down, and will only go to "average retail" on NADA guide. "Average Retail" and listing prices usually have a large disparity. The buyer is forced to come up with the difference.

Sand cars are definitely dying for the average Joe. There’s no way I could go out and build a new sand car with what they cost today. Even having a used car is way more upkeep than a sxs if you don’t know what you’re doing or don’t wrench on your own stuff. With that said I’m a Glamis guy all day and there is no sxs that will compare to a sand car, I’ve driven them all and no one will change my mind lol my dads Pro R is a blast but still nothing compared to my twin turbo car.

I agree with your boating comment. I was talking more about the sub 100k boats that people typically pay cash for. Those seem to be moving decently. Anything over that price range and requires a buyer to get financing is definitely sitting for a longer time

Well well well. Guy came back this morning to take our final price. Looks like I will be busy the next 30 days. He does want to talk about furniture and tractor as a side deal. Only contingency is an inspection

Can ask why Sarasota ? FL is high on my list, along with TN, but it seems that Im priced out of lake living in TN anymore with the Cali influx. I have 4 more years to have my 30 in, starting to think heavily about my final destination.

We found our current winter place when full time rv’ing. It is an rv resort that also has park models (mobile homes). We have made so many friends here.

We also have friends from San Diego move to Sarasota. The new development we may buy in is where 2 friends have moved. Prices have gone way up, but it seams they are easing up. The big problem is insurance. We are going to be at least 8 miles from the beach and not in a flood zone. That usually helps with the insurance.

We like the gulf better than the Atlantic. It is warmer and shallower. Sarasota doesn’t have a history of getting hit by hurricanes. We had tree damage in our park from IAN 2 years ago, but power didn’t go out in our place or the places our friends moved as they are newer with underground wires.

If we buy a place there we will still go to our park in the winter as we are so involved there. Will probably rent the house to snowbirds. That would pay for the cost of the insurance on the house and our cost in the park.

You can dm me if you want more info or ask here.

Now that we are all back to work……. :)

I ran across this Harris poll Of 2,119 individuals. I think it helps explain why there is so much pessimism.

The highlights.

  • 55% believe the economy is shrinking, and 56% think the US is experiencing a recession, though the broadest measure of the economy, gross domestic product (GDP), has been growing.
  • 49% believe the S&P 500 stock market index is down for the year, though the index went up about 24% in 2023 and is up more than 12% this year.
  • 49% believe that unemployment is at a 50-year high, though the unemployment rate has been under 4%, a near 50-year low.

Under Contract. Only contingency is a home inspection. Close June 21. Damn I have a shit ton to do after I get out of this shitty place (Eugene Or) tomorrow morning.

Sold the boat yesterday. Got 4k less than what I paid for it in 2020, but I probably priced it to low. Had a guy drive 3.5 hrs to look at it yesterday. Wife put it on marketplace Monday afternoon. Had 6 people wanting to come and look at it that wife had on standby in case this guy didn't want it. Took him on a water test and before we got back to the ramp he said he wanted it.

Now to list the Polaris Ranger. New battery arrived yesterday and got it running. Need to clean it up a little today and list it.

Just had a house three streets down from ours, on the no “view” side of the street and no pool sell for $210K over asking. At this point my house will hit $2 mill soon 😳.

Same model as ours but missing the shop out back, the add on for the pool table room and the extra bedroom. Seems crazy to me

Anyone looking for a shack with a view?

Heck of a commission..

I know the street. It’s essentially between Mulholland Drive and Sunset on the west side of Bell Air. we use to drive “enthusiastically” down it, Stradella and Roscomere late at night back in the 70s..

It’s all relative. Paid $127k in 1986. Paid what the lot and pool were worth. At the time, we figured we could demo the house and come out even. Zillow 4 years ago was 550k, now Zillow is 750k, probably sell close to or over 900k now.
Our immediate area in Sacramento is now selling for 150 to 250k over asking. Mid 70’s tract homes 2k sqft 3/2 to 4/3. All have RV access and well maintained.
In my best weather forecast voice,“prices will continue to rise or drop with a strong chance of staying the same.”
